Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yes.

Turn on VPN. See post 311.

You may also need to temp disable some security stuff ( I found Ghostery blocked access on one laptop ). Once thru login all OK even tho reenabled.

I wonder if that intentional.. like they don't want to give it all away for free?

Edit - are you all trying it with the real library card number or a fake one?

Got it working, set the VPN to united states and you can get access to a lot more.

Working for me ( windows with firefox )

Follow post 311 ( Java needs to be enabled, some security / anti virus programs may need to be disabled for the logon phase )

I'm sure Adrian reads these threads, so it gets back to the Indo.

The issue really is whether the library could pay for better access for us. Given how little service they can give in the current circumstances.

Is there an other way of getting the Irish Independent free online. The press reader doesn't have the article I am looking for as a page is skipped.

Revolut are currently giving 1 month free sub to the Independent via their rewards section.

Is it just me or has most newspapers been removed, Irish times and the examiner is gone?

    I’m using the PressReader App.

    Many thanks

edit: never mind...went back a few posts all very sad!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,898 ✭✭✭KOR101

I'm assuming this page was never updated and is wrong..........

Irish newspapers are available when you access Pressreader using the Wi-Fi in any public library and you can retain access by using the app. This means that for the next 5 days you can continue to access new editions of Independent News & Media Group Limited (INM) titles without needing to go back to the library.

There's a guy in Carrigaline sitting in his car opposite the library, every day, clearly using the library Wifi to connect his laptop.
That must qualify as their "little service".

Wouldn't like to be offered a seat in that car of an evening, even more so, when on occasion he goes for a run before driving home.

    Having issues reading papers now
Use a VPN and the random 8 digit number. I can click to the front newspaper page, trying to read it or inner pages, it reverts to the homepage

    Solution?

Strange if you are able to get the front page but not the whole newspaper. Maybe try a different browser or check if your VPN is stable.

I’m having issues today. I’m trying to log in with libraries account at sign in page it keeps redirecting back to sign in each time after entering details. It’s the same with VPN turned off and on.
I have double checked my library card number , it says waterford library (offsite) when I select that library.

Does the pressreader app work with the 90000000 login ? i know it works on a laptop website . thans

Yea and annoying to find out what’s going on. I made a new registration with libraries Ireland and same thing. Keeps jumping back to subscription login. No info on Facebook either

The 900000000 barcode has stopped working on PressReader from this morning 11/03/2021

VPN set to any country makes no difference. Has anybody else noticed this ?

Funny that. I never get the Irish Independent. VPN or not.

So, the last question is which library or do you use the generic number at the start of the thread?

Usually with VPN on and before you sign in with barcode you had a choice of 82 publications when you pressed "select title" for Ireland.
That has now gone down to 54 since Tuesday 13th, losing The Irish Independent, Sunday Independent and others. So the choice has nothing to do with signing in. A shame.
