Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    He doesn't mention AP in the ad, which seems strange.

    I think you've already explained it to me before, but if the box is there, it means AP1 hardware is installed and AP is working by default and you don't have to pay Tesla to switch it on?

    I wouldn't be too keen myself on buying a Model S without AP. It's a Tesla, you've got to have AP :p

    Yeah I roughly know about the different versions, but what I'm interested in is what early-ish (2014-2016) Model S sold in the UK (before AP2) had or had not AP1 enabled. I know you can recognise if it has the hardware. But is it always enabled when the hardware is there?

    Answer is no for private sale cars. But the hardware is always there and therefore Tesla can conveniently enable the AP on the CPO cars before selling them.

    looks to be a CPO car. Anyone know this guy, is he a boardsie or on the Tesla Owners group on facebook (they only let actual owners in so I can't check myself!)

    Just be aware that the 4 year warranty is only valid for 80,000 KM so that part is almost expired, it's at about 76,000 km now.
    Does look nice but I'd wonder how often it's charged to 100% as it is in the image, not the best way to maintain the battery.
    I'd also query the 1 previous owner statement as it's already registered in Ireland and a UK import :rolleyes:

    Wasn't it yourself that ordered from the UK site?
    I'm thinking of doing the same, as you can see from my posts, seems there are massive savings to be had vs cars sold here. Of course I want to close the deal before end of month. (brexit)

    Yes I see that and the pathetic CPO warranty of ~10k km , but sure if I werent buying from Tesla direct there would not be any anyway.

    Will be giving some serious thought tonight about taking the credit card out of cold storage for the deposit tomorrow!

    It's a really tempting car for the price ELM327. Just add another 100k on it over next 3 years and still have two more years of unlimited mileage battery/motor warranty left.

    That's more like it. 2 year Tesla warranty with it. If you do 3k miles per year. In ELM327's case the warranty would run out in 3 weeks :p

    AP1 or AP2 dont sound like they'd be worth €2k.
    Apart from auto park and summon (which I'd put in the gimmick box) all AP seems to do is primarily smart cruise and lane follow assist which is standard in lots of cheaper cars now?

    Is there more to it than that that would justify paying thousands for it to be enabled?

    Autopilot is great for staying in the lane. Like cruise control, once you've tried it there is no going back. It's definitely worth a few thousand euro.

    Right, but its just LFA, which is becoming standard now in other BEV's. Its not a USP for Tesla anymore.

    e.g. a €38k new Niro has SCC and LFA. A €28k Ioniq from 2017 has it.

    Once you have had it, it's very hard to want a car without it.

    I have just asked Tesla Ireland how much it is to have it enabled. If they reply, I'll post it back in here :)

    His car wasn't calibrated optimally. My own car was the same until my front windscreen was replaced and Mr Windscreen, who did a better job than Hyundai and since it has kept much better in the middle of the lane

    That said, I have also driven Model S with AP1. Not only does it a better job than Ioniq, but it makes a lot more sense to me to have both systems come on at the same time and leave no choice of the level of assist to the driver

    I had it in my 171 Ioniq. A great system, and probably the best non tesla system out there (once it's set correctly)


    However even AP1 is much much better.

    No just a regular S90D, subzero package and high fidelity sound along with "security package" whatever that is
    The only option on my list that it didnt have was air suspension - but as I plan on having this over 200k km perhaps that's a positive as one less thing to break!!

    Plumped for this one over the performance spec as I wasn't expecting a facelift model to be in budget.

    I'm expecting a 2-3 week delivery timeframe.

    AP1, 2016, 90k miles (so very limited CPO warranty) but when the competition was all non-tesla stock with none at all every little helps!


    Cost £40k + VRT so probably 50k all in, will have to colletc in UK

    Not interested in the model 3 unless I got the performance version, and this was cheaper!


    Choice 1 was my dream car, model X P100DL - obviously out of budget :D
    Otherwise it is always a compromise, short range model X, CPO model S, non Tesla second hand model S performance, or model3 performance, or the relative cheapest option, model 3 sr+


    I considered all of the above, but when a facelift S90D popped up in budget it was too hard to say no.

    Great value for the spec and you still have a bit of bumper to bumper to get any potential issues looked at. And then that unlimited drivetrain warranty to get you towards that 200k mark.

    As I said a few pages back sounds like a perfect combination for your use case as you don't need to be precious about the mileage going forward. Now just commit to drive this until 2024 at least.

    I think the high miles was actually a positive, I was only saying this to herself
    When I move on in 3-5 years, I'll have added around 200k-250k km anyway so the car will always ahve "high miles"

    Plenty of very high mileage Model S in the Netherlands (hard life as Schiphol airport taxi). The early Model S had lots of quality issues, mostly sorted by the time your car was made. It's a facelift model too, is it?

    I too thought that car was very decent value, particularly as it is CPO so the car will be near mint. And you know I am exceptionally critical (tight) when it comes to value for money :D

    Facelift yes that's what sealed it. Was considering the red P90D nosecone model in Yomac Cars but this being ~10k cheaper, newer and facelift sealed the deal.

    Plus mine has the subzero package, the mrs approves :P

    I got one email from the rep in NL yesterday with a walkaround of the car, a couple of highlighted blemishes (so small that it took a while to work out where the blemish was)

    I emailed back 2 times since but have had no response.

    I don't mind anyway, gives me time to sort out finance etc, and think about when I can fly to the UK. In fairness we can't exactly complain when they profess to having domestic sale only!

    Congratulations!! Very jealous!! I'm also potentially considering a 2nd hand model s as I have 3 dogs and children so the m3 doesn't suit.

    I've put the deposit down, if they cancel the sale then I'll get the deposit back and I can buy something else here. This was substantially cheaper than the nonsense prices most places charge here, so it was worth the "risk". The absolute worst case scenario is that they don't return my deposit but say I can use it on any Tesla. In which case I'll probably get an SR+ model 3. Not ideal but sure if it's meant for you it won't pass you. I've been looking on the ROI tesla inventory site and they only have new inventory stock, 80k, probably just a tick out of budget. (if it was for a model X I might have pushed it, but they are above 90)
