Had a mad craving for dumplings over the last while so I got a pasta maker that does the dumpling shapes and made some pork and prawn versions for lunch!

Rice noodles with an Asian broth (really just a vegetable broth with some soy bean paste, soy sauce and sriracha), and some kimchi on the side

^ You making your own kimchi now Shenshen? How does it compare to your sauerkraut?

Not yet. That was bought in an Asian shop here in Cork on the weekend. But Eur 4.50 for a small jar was eye watering, so I will give home made a try fairly soon.

I don't think it's all that similar to sauerkraut, if I'm honest. It's much more tender and spicy, and less fermented. But I love both! :D

That was Mrs Beer's inspiration to start making it, too!

I suppose it was more lunch than breakfast, so here's Sunday's brunch. Mushrooms and peppers with garam masala, a sliced avocado and a boiled egg (I can't poach them for the life of me!)

    St1TLar.jpg

Drizzled with sriracha, because I can't have eggs without.

    More breakfast than lunch :)

First attempt so go easy! :D
Hollandaise sauce, as you can see was a miss.......didn't actually measure anything out (Ramsey Video). Next time........
Never poached eggs, a dark art also....it worked.
    Muffins down on hot pan.
    Streaky.

So, my son who is studying in Cathal Brugha St., just in the door now, asked me how I made the Hollandaise.
"In a Bain Marie" i told him.........but .....my mistake was having the bowl IN the water! He said it should be ABOVE the water.
    Good. Live and learn.

We Love "The Ramen Bar' S. William St.

So, she tried, again, first time, a ramen bowl. Had it all, pork, pork dumplings, egg Seaweed etc etc......but to replicate their stock......almost impossible in a domestic setting, however, it was nice.
Chili flakes but didn't shine through as much as i'd like.
