Level one now? It will be a level three for sure if any of these maps verify.

Please note, my policy during this no doubt hectic period will be to post only in the technical thread, I will be reading this one when I can, but as the other thread is likely to be adding pages at a more leisurely rate, people can find my posts easier there, and this thread won't get the additional volume of quoted MTC posts. Over there, I will ask people not to quote my posts, just comment or ask a specific question, but we can help keep the volume down by adopting this policy in general with some of the other posters who often get quoted. In particular, try to avoid quoting maps. One way to quote without volume is to say something like MTC today at 21:27 said ... and just pick out a few key words.

Sunday evening forecasts should tell all I think.

But no harm getting a few provisions in just in case.

If the worst happens, will you have the powerbanks and kindles charged up? Will you have grub that does not need cooking if the electricity goes? Will you have a few bottles of water if the pipes freeze?

    Things like that.

Prepping is good, all that stuff will be used up anyway in time.

Below is my very first post here in this forum from back in 2004... every year since then I've lurked/the odd contribution at various times during the winter months to see if any chance of snow, likewise on Netweather. Except for 2010, every other winter has been a disappointment - looks like next week will make up for it, absolutely cannot wait!!!

Oh and I now have a 13 year old daughter (she was only 2 months when I posted the below) who is equally obsessed and messages me in work about the latest on GFS, ECM etc... So another snow obsessed person in my family!

Love the weather forum, I don't post, but pop in every day, and appreciate all the info given, it's fantastic the time and effort given by you clearly knowledgeable folk. 😀 But I'm sorry snow lovers, esp those in the south east, I'm praying it doesn't arrive. I live in a hilly area, 15 miles from work, my auto rear drive car does not like snow or ice, im alone in the office so not turning up isn't an option. Plus 7 rescue cats who depend on me feeding them, when I get to work. I still shudder at the memories of Dec 2010, don't want to experience that again. Sorry again to the snow-hopers 😉

I sadly missed the thundersnow of November 2010. :(

It must be a truly amazing experience!

It is sryanbruen, experienced it in 2010,it was a Saturday morning in the bathroom brushing the teeth and boom, frightened the life out of me, didn't even know about thunder snow before that

Good forecast there from Joanna and throwing in the possible Red Warning which should make the lay man sit up and take notice. Going on their own criteria it will be a Red for sure.

The risk of downgrades has subsided after the model that was holding out this morning has come in to line this evening which means solid cross model agreement.

My in-laws are facing -20 this week based upon on the charts I've seen here
Thankfully all their sheep are still in.

I think those charts are for 1500 m above sea level. I seen one for - 14 in Mayo and I said no way. But I seen a post from Kermit also about the 1500m
