What a mental league. Just three weeks ago it was being said on here it was two of YM, Shannon and Terenure in relegation places and Terenure were favourites to go down as people couldn't see them winning both their last two games. Fast forward to today and UCC were dragged into the playoff, Shannon went from 4/5th to bottom since Christmas. 1B is crazy but 1A wasn't far behind

I think it’s a ahame that such an exciting league format is basically overlooked in Ireland now, given the successses of the provinces. I’ve been to a good few AIL matches the year and I love the quality and spirit on show, load of mistakes loads of tries lots of action!

Perhaps Thornleys pieces The IT draws another eye to it.

Big win for Clontarf, considering everyone had Lansdowne as the favourites.

Clontarf were full value for it and played some excellent rugby. Very disappointing from us and gives Clontarf the edge in terms of the semi-final. We have a lot of work to do.

Well done to Terenure staying up - huge effort since Christmas and a fitting way for James Blaney to bow out. Commiserations to Shannon - am sure they will learn a lot and will work hard to get back up.

I thought the 1A/1B play off was second from 1B (Old Wesley) against second last in 1A (UCC). Is it second last in 1A and second, third and fourth in 1B in semi finals and final to see who gets that one spot in 1A?

    20th April
    Cashel v Navan
Tough one for Navan, would love to see them get on well. Home town and caught some of their games over the season, some really good rugby played.

Saw them play few times during the year. Play some real good rugby. Will find it difficult up against Cashels pack. Nenagh had them in trouble quite a bit at the weekend I beleive and Cashel will be more of the same

A good opportunity for him. Isn't doing it for the love of the game either.

Huge game v Sligo at the weekend for Blackrock, and Rainey/Greystones in the other side. Could very easily be 2B next season.

You can say that again, dropping down the divisions has been made very much worth his while

    Lansdowne win senior cup 49-22

    Very entertaining game

Some great rugby from both teams

Trinity clearly resting a few players for Fraser McMullan final and AIL but gave a very good account of themselves

How many guys involved in Fraser McMullan would have been involved with 1sts?
    Did Lansdowne rest/rotate many?

Garryowen won Bateman Cup. 45-21 win
Really good game. Garryowen forward dominance got them huge platform and the win. Very impressed with Armagh though. Willie Faloon got them playing very good brand of rugby

Was in pub watching Munster and looking at twitter for updates but had to leave to go to work

    1B/2A playoffs
    Buccaneers 24 Queens 30, Cashel 3 Navan 7
    2A/2B playoffs
Blackrock College 28 Sligo 27, Greystones 20 Rainey Old Boys 23
    2B/2C playoffs
    Skerries 22 Malahide 34, Midleton 28 Bruff 38

So Buccs relegated to 2A. No Connacht club in Division 1 now
    Next Saturday
Clontarf v Lansdowne 1A semi final
UCC v Malone 1A/1B playoff semi final
Queens v Navan to decide final 1B spot
Blackrock v Rainey to decide 2A spot
Malahide v Bruff to decide 2B spot
Seapoint v Clonmel to find final 2C spot
    Next Sunday
Cork Con v Trinity 1A semi final
Old Wesley v Naas 1A/1B playoff semi final

Anyone know why clontarf winger mckeown hasn't been in the squad recently

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,967 ✭✭✭✭The Lost Sheep

If Trinity make the final it will be first season since 13/14 that final isnt made up of 2 of Clontarf, Lansdowne and Con. Marys in 11/12 last winner outside of the Tarf, Lansdowne, Con.

    Predictions for this coming weekend:

Clontarf - Lansdowne - tight game I'd say, Tarf win.
UCC v Malone - UCC win, back them to stay up this season and win the playoff final as well.
Queens v Navan - Queens on a great run, Navan squeaked past Cashel away - Queens for me.
Blackrock v Rainey - Rainey to do a Dublin double after beating Greystones last weekend.
Malahide v Bruff - Extremely close to call, long trip for Bruff but back them to get the job done.
Seapoint v Clonmel - Do Clonmel even want to play Senior? Seapoint playing for their lives, hoping for a Clonmel win.

Con v DUFC - Con win.
Old Wesley v Naas - Naas in a thriller.

Yeah wouldnt be sure Clontarf Lansdowne will be that tight. Certainly will be a closer score than their game the weekend before last but think its Clontarf by over a score.
Malone are going for back to back promotions. Might struggle up against a 1A side though exams are starting next week in UCC which could impact them
exams in queens like cork starting very soon so that could be factor and squaking past Cashel in Spafield shouldnt be any reason to discount Navan. Highfield were only side to win there apart from that Navan win.(Cashel won 23-7 first time they played this season in Spafield)
    Will agree on Rainey.
Not that long a trip for Bruff but will agree think they'll get the win.
Clonmel definitely want to go senior. 4th time in round robin in 5 years. First time in playoff. Won all they can in junior rugby. Have backing of a large town and got plenty backing in terms of facilities. getting their club underage in order and finally properly using the town population to win east munster underage and challenging in munster cups at older age groups. also have school in town and putting big resources there and are playing all the rugby schools at every level each year.

Should the Malahide and Bruff game not be on in Bruff as Bruff finished ahead of them in the table?
