Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I seem to recall MT saying the temps would rise slightly around this time before the siberian cold took over. So far he looks to be on track

1cm of snow and the city will grind to a halt...

    Fixed that for you!

Agree with Weathercheck, (albeit I am reporting from city centre) if this can so readily change to rain then I wouldn't fancy much in the line of 8 inches of snow in Dublin. The alert really should have reduced those amounts firstly, except for the highest ground along the east coast. Secondly there's one airmass arriving over the east coast which is a bit warmer and this will only last until tomorrow morning. The 30-hour warning they issued should have been split into two different warnings about pre 10am tomorrow and post 10am tomorrow weather.

I suggest that people don't get carried away with their hopes for snow today in Dublin city and surrounding low-lying areas. There's tomorrow to look forward to;)

Snowing now in South Meath. Started off as rain, turned to wispy sleet, now seems to be getting more snow like. Big thaw on here, so I dont think this is going to stick.

So can we expect Dublin airport disruption early tomorrow morning ? Thinking of moving flight to tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Whatever happens at the moment or later later, it's worth pointing out again I think that Met Eireann are only forecasting a risk of heavy snow to begin tonight/tomorrow.

snowing heavy here now but the thaw is ongoing. The radar isnt showing much more in the Irish sea, have my doubts about met eirann's 1980s style forecast for the next 2 days. Temps are rising very fast. now 3C in most parts of Dublin.

Important to keep in mind that the Met Eireann weather warning only applies to tonight and following through tomorrow. Its not applying to this afternoon.

Just got about 15 flakes of snow in Crumlin and then it stopped again :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

Inland (over 12km) spots should expect snow showers that will stick, when the M2 buoy reaches about 5 degrees perhaps or a bit less? The dewpoint will also need to head to 1 degree or below.

For coastal parts of Dublin, I'd want the dewpoint no higher than 0.5 degrees and the air temp into the 3.x degree range.

Meanwhile, it looks like the folks will be getting plenty of snow currently, NRA Dunleer just about has negative dewpoints and there's a a nice cluster of snow heading into the south area. I imagine it will fall as sleet in Drogheda itself, the higher surrounding ground may keep it as snow or wet snow.
