Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about my place for 2019 as I deferred, but very very interested to know how fast I need to run next April to secure a place for 2020. I've currently got a time 6 minutes inside if I had needed to apply for 2019, but my time that would currently count for 2020 is only 3 minutes inside which I think would be cutting it a bit fine.

If I can run the same time next April though as my current time I'd gain an extra 5 minutes inside the qualification band just by then being a year older. Adds a bit of jeopardy to the marathon running which is kind of "fun", as in next April do I bank a time or risk the 3 minutes being enough for 2020. Possibly getting a bit carried away with the planning two years in advance admittedly. :)

That was quick. GFA entry verified but not confirmed if I got a place yet. Have a 7 minute buffer on the qualifying time so hopefully I get the confirmation email on 15th Aug.

    Here's the reply.
"We are pleased to advise that your application for a 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon Good for Age entry has been verified, and you will be entered into the selection process. You will be notified on the outcome on Wednesday 15 August. If you have not received an email with your outcome by Thursday 16 August, please contact our Helpdesk team on 0207 902 0200. Please be aware that it is each runner’s responsibility to make contact if they have not heard from us."

Application for London Marathon has gone in, I am hoping I hear back but I will have to raise money for Charity if accepted

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 highlandcow

GFA entry for verified but not holding out much hope. I only have a 34 second buffer. Worth a stab anyway. I'll let you all know how I get on for future reference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭bigslice

Entry in with seconds to spare on Friday and then a follow up email yesterday with the bank statement I couldn’t find on Friday but got email yesterday to say information verified. Have 15 minute buffer, so should be good and have 4/5 others from Club making trip it seems.

Had no intentions a few weeks back but once a few started talking about it, seed was planted!

We should find out tomorrow what the cut-offs were.

The GFA is only for people with British address?? Correct

I've not seen any GFA rejections posted on TwitterBook yet, but looks like someone with a 2:57:26 time has got in with a sub3 time required for their age group.

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭bigslice

Not received any confirmation yet. A poster on runners world got under the 3.05 with 15 seconds to spare.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,118 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Do you know if it was a male or female poster?

If male that basically should mean that everyone got in if they applied.

Edit: Just found that post and it was for a MV40 time band they scraped under by 15 seconds.

I applied with a 2.59.26.....Not heard either way yet.

Awaiting a load of emails as well after getting verified
All well under the target time
    Still a tad nervous

    Nothing yet!

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 highlandcow

Just saw on Twitter that someone in the under 40 category got in with a 29 second buffer. Looks like all that applied got in. Still no confirmation for me though.

If you've not yet had the email then give them a phone call, seems that everyone who applied got in as have seen further posts for people with only 5 seconds under the time getting confirmations now.

Got my email confirmation at 10:59…had tried to call the number but not connecting. Looks like they are a bit behind on the emails but glad to get the green light for my 1st London Marathon!

Think they have admitted to there being email issues at their end now and have stopped answering the phone. If you are able to login and pay via this link then that means you are in regardless of the email coming through:

Was only a small thought this time last week!

Yeah, same here. Didn't really think my time would have given me enough wiggle room to actually get in. Delighted.

Eagerly awaiting the annual London rejection email this week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 251 ✭✭noelearly

Totally forgot about this. Such is my confidence of getting a place. Think I had to wait until the Friday for rejection last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 216 ✭✭blueberrypie

Just came across this thread. Awaiting my email like the 40,000 others!
On the taper for the DCM!

Two red packages just landed on my doormat, although we both deferred so knew we were in anyway.

Aaaagh, I just want to hear if I got my spot or not
Making me wait is just making me want to take part even more. Smart lads these London folks.
Go back a week, and I'd have been terrified of getting in, but now I have a serious dose of the FOMOs

"This entry has not been successful in the ballot" :pac:

And there was me believing I might get beginners luck! :o

I didn’t get an ‘unsuccessful’ mail, is it a case that you get that or a successful notification in the post?

I used a uk address (my mothers) that is not on the mainland so wondered if I may get something in the post in the coming days?

I didn't get an email either. I used this. https://www.realbuzz.com/accounts/login/

You need the email account and password you used to enter the ballot

Where in that site do you see if you were successful? Could see yesterday but can’t find it now

There’s a tab for ‘entries’ I clicked that, clicked London marathon and there was a big red warning sign stating ‘this entry was not successful’ or similar

Ah my annual rejection from London. Twill be renamed Brexitland by the time I apply for next year's rejection.

Guaranteed entry into Edinburgh with your London rejection S! I can sense your love for another marathon training cycle.

Rejection again for me. Might do Donedea then.

If the spread of numbers is the same as last year it looks like I've been bumped to the Green start with my deferred fast GFA entry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭thomas anderson.

    Rejected x2 again this year.

Well if all you guys are getting your rejection email, and I haven't heard anything yet, I'm going to presume that I got in 8)

  • Registered Users Posts: 257 ✭✭colin32

Well I checked realbuzz and got a big fat no again. Lost count of how many rejections that is

If I survive dcm, I had Manchester as a back up for London anyways
