Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah yes but I needed to learn the lesson myself through buying these cars :pac: Should have kept the Megane ah no tbh I don't regret the Audi at all do actually like it a lot. I am frugal enough in most areas so a nice car is one of my few luxuries.

So when are you planning on getting one?

    :pac:

Anyone recommend someone to repair rust ideally around the Stillorgan/Blackrock area? I discovered a small patch of rust under the boot handle on my Mk5 GTI & want to sort it early.

I would also be interested in hearing what others have to say, I have a rusty rear driver's side wheelarch that needs to be sorted out eventually (it's not really noticeable at the moment but I'd like to do it reasonably soon all the same), I'm happy to pay more for a high quality job. I had the arch repaired before but it's rusting again so I don't want a repeat performance this time.

Also willing to consider places in Cork if it's worth going down there.

Saw a fairly tatty navy 2006 Volvo S60 (I think), with a car pulled on the Dock Road in Limerick yesterday, the possibility of it being a cop car wouldn't have crossed my mind when it was new never mind now. Proper low-key.

The other day I got overtaken by an unmarked 2012 Audi A4, navy on the N7. Blues and twos flashing, siren on.

One would never suspect, I sure didn't!

Seen a car pulled in by a 171 unmarked navy kuga with very discreet blues inside the rear light cluster on the n4 a few weeks ago. Doing speed checks in a layby on same stretch for 2 days after. I would never have guessed a kuga.

The other half got a text from dealer this morning saying her new car was due to land with him in the morning and that it would be ready to be collected on Monday evening. I'm wondering would she be liable for the tax for July if we leave it until Wednesday to collect it? I know you can do the tax for a new car online but does it go by the date the car is registered (assuming it'll be registered in July if it'll be ready for Monday) or by the date that you tax it?

Tell them to hold off registering it until August 1st.

Leave it until Wednesday to collect, but declare it off the road as soon as you get the Reg/Chassis using the online system, and apply for tax from 1st August the following day.

They could make a nice few quid at an auction. Wonder what the plan is for the building and all the stuff. Was in westport and achill the last few days. The cycling/greenway business is booming. The whole area seems to have alot more tourists now than 10 years ago.

I wonder did AGS get donations of ex uk traffic cars? I think the MET gave a few specialist cars a few years ago.

I feel like that’s unfair on some level, if there is no cars anywhere in the vicinity except a knackered Volvo 200m behind you should feel free to express yourself without thought of consequence.

If that's true, that's so embarrassing.

As far as I know it was a once off for one reason or another but I agree

Not half as embarrassing as the various scandals and cover ups involving AGS. most of which we've quite likely heard nothing of.

Lads, I have a B License but not a BE. Would that cover me to drive a Ford Ranger with a double axle trailer?

I've tried googling this and I think the answer is if the combined weight of the jeep, trailer and contents of the trailer is less than 3.5t then I'm ok?

The trailer plus the load it can cary according to the plate must be less than 750. So probably not any twin axles.

According to the link I posted from the RSA, the trailer can exceed 750kgs but the total combined load (vehicle + trailer) cannot exceed 3500kgs.

Its actually 3500 plus 750 for a 4x4 or a large van. Its all worded badly and pretty confusing.

Is it personal usage, or business usage?

While that's a UK article, it's European legislation so applies to Ireland. "Technically" any Ranger with a Tow Bar that is used for business purposes should have a Tacho fitted. Same goes for big vans and the likes of a Discovery where GTW is over 3,500kg.

Not 100% sure, but I think the driver should be C/C1 licenced as well.

It's the maximum load they're certified for that counts though, not the actual load at the time you're driving.

That said, putting 3.5 tons behind a Kadjar rated for less than half of that can be.... amusing.

Always had a nagging doubt when I bought the Superb that never really went away. Was never really happy with it so had been looking around for a bit.

Put a deposit on this today, pick up when I get a chance next week. Missing a few bits of spec but the 6 cylinder is a huge improvement on what I'm used to. Handling is on another planet.
