Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who are the stand-out players at u19 level?

Alex Soroka, Joe McCarthy, Lee Barron, Will Hickey, Chris Cosgrave, Jamie Osborne, Josh O'Connor, Tim Corkery to name a few

Not a vintage year group for Leinster really... Despite the large number of players.

Of this age group only Hernan, SOB, Smith look like possible Academy additions.

U19 age group on the other hand..

I remember watching quite a bit of the inter-provincials for this year group and Leinster didn't seem that far ahead. Speaks volumes about how well they are developing players (both schools and clubs) compared to the other provinces.

Luis Faria may be a little small, but I really like the look of him.

Yeah it's a weaker group than usual.. Much weaker than 19s
Munster pretty weak this year too outside of lock and outhalf.. While Ulster weren't great either outside back three and McCann/Finlay.

Hernan a doubt.. Anthony Ryan(DUFC) lined up at 7 against senior team and looks the most natural fit to replace him

Just as likely that Soroka and/or Prendergast being drafted in

    And SOB to 7?

    Yeah that's the two options.

Both sides have struggled at scrum time. We seem to have few options at loose head. I haven't seen our last match v Wales , but Scotland really got on top of us at scrum time.
Hernan looks like a good prospect. He was impressive v Scotland. He has a good engine and is quite fast around the pitch.
I thought the locks looked very good v Scotland. Deeny was really good and got through a lot of work v Scotland, Ahern is a great athlete, explosive in open field and McCarty at u20 really looks like a workhorse. I think he's a u19.
But the back row was really impressive, each of them carried really well. But, I have only seen the 1st match!

Part of the reason McKee went to Leinster.

Part of the reason McKee went to Leinster.

Ulster are definitely going in the right direction with their academy, getting players involved in the setup from a younger age is a smart move

Been by far the better side for 15 minutes. Should really be about 10-0 up rather than 7-3 down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,189 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's a great try. Multiples instances of forwards taking the pass at pace and getting over the gain line. Lovely finish from Soroka.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Well deserved 8-7 up 20 played

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Great effort from Ireland there. Deserved to get a try from all the attacking play.

That England number 8 is some unit

Soroka looking the biz here. Carrying disrupting tackling. Good all rounder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

What’s Soroka’s background? Where’d he come from, was he a prospect from very young?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,967 ✭✭✭✭The Lost Sheep

What an offload. Hope that's a try!

This is the best 30 mins I’ve seen from an Irish 20s side ever I think. They’ve been absolutely brilliant

His family are from Ukraine, moved to Ireland when his brother was young. Alex could well have been born here.

His brother is Ivan Soroka, who played a couple of games for Connacht a few years back and is with Clontarf in the AIL now. Both went to school in Belvo.

Thanks I knew I recognised the name from somewhere before

There are some monsters in this Ireland team. Such a talented team, some of these players need to be moved to the senior team sooner rather than later.

The U20's are fantastic. Getting over the gainline with their carries and in the following phases are accelerating through with the backs.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

This is great stuff. Incredible rugby to watch.

I think this team is better than last years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

This maybe the best rugby I’ve seen from any Irish team.

    Sensational stuff so far
