Spot on. Not impressed with McNulty this game. McCarthy either.

McCarthy is a kid. Still 18. I've solid hopes for any player that manages 2 seasons at this level.

He was brilliant last week, a bit headless chicken tonight but that’s just youth I’d imagine, very physical.

Scotland vs England U20s was streamed on Youtube by SRU. Scotland pushed England all the way but England edged it in the end 21-17. They play Ireland at home next and they must be favourites for mini grand slam. Italy likewise pushed France but 2 late scores saw France triumph 31-19. Ireland still have to go to France. Despite our 2 opening wins both with a bp and being top of the table I think 3rd place is probably our finishing posiition.

Ach, I'm not writing anybody off. They're just kids. He just wasn't very good last night.

Not a vintage year group for Leinster really... Despite the large number of players.

Of this age group only Hernan, SOB, Smith look like possible Academy additions.

U19 age group on the other hand..

Clarkson and Deeny are already in the academy on top of the lads you've named who could be in for a spot, I wouldn't say it's a bad crop for the u20 age group but it's probably not as strong in terms of standouts compared to other years.

Didn't say it was bad but that it wasn't a vintage age group for Leinster which is fine.. Given the heaps of talent at u19 level.

I remember watching quite a bit of the inter-provincials for this year group and Leinster didn't seem that far ahead. Speaks volumes about how well they are developing players (both schools and clubs) compared to the other provinces.

Luis Faria may be a little small, but I really like the look of him.

Yeah it's a weaker group than usual.. Much weaker than 19s
Munster pretty weak this year too outside of lock and outhalf.. While Ulster weren't great either outside back three and McCann/Finlay.

Hernan a doubt.. Anthony Ryan(DUFC) lined up at 7 against senior team and looks the most natural fit to replace him

Just as likely that Soroka and/or Prendergast being drafted in

    And SOB to 7?

    Yeah that's the two options.

Both sides have struggled at scrum time. We seem to have few options at loose head. I haven't seen our last match v Wales , but Scotland really got on top of us at scrum time.
Hernan looks like a good prospect. He was impressive v Scotland. He has a good engine and is quite fast around the pitch.
I thought the locks looked very good v Scotland. Deeny was really good and got through a lot of work v Scotland, Ahern is a great athlete, explosive in open field and McCarty at u20 really looks like a workhorse. I think he's a u19.
But the back row was really impressive, each of them carried really well. But, I have only seen the 1st match!

Part of the reason McKee went to Leinster.

Part of the reason McKee went to Leinster.

Ulster are definitely going in the right direction with their academy, getting players involved in the setup from a younger age is a smart move
