Ok, let's check with the words of the rest of your post:

So then.. people can not have known and indeed have posted in the middle of our discussion.

    So.. back to the test..
    - as I read it, you're implying you agree that people can not have known
    - but your saying that .. saying it wasn't all over the place.. so as I mention "people can not have known".. is wrong?

Yeah i said most, not all, you're obviously not in the most category.

To summarise, i was saying it was everywhere, the trailer and any promotional plugins/interviews that were done in relation to the movie, revealed that Arnie was a good guy.

And you're implying the whole time that this info was scarce, as if most people wouldnt have seen this stuff, as if nobody back then had a TV

We defo had NBC, it was mostly NEWS shows on it throughout the day, but it had the interesting talks shows on it in the evenings (not that i watched many of them at that age), very rarely you might see the odd good movie on it..

And eh, we've had MTV well before 1997, i remember watching alot of Beavis and Butthead on it at a young age..

Was it normal for cinemas back then to let 8 year olds in to see 18 rated films? Because I remembered being turned away from Barb Wire in my early teens and that was only rated 15s.

Terminator 2 was 15's, i got in to see it with my father and two brothers, in a cinema in wexford, think it was the one in Gorey... In 1991... Yeah nobody cared :D

Now if it was 18's and it was a movie littered with tits and gore, I'm sure there would have been an exchange of words :pac:

Promotional releases do nothing for me so I didn't give a crap about them releasing the first official image consisting of 3 women. It's great to have Hamilton back and Davis is an actress with so much potential so I'm just happy they're in the film.

Don't know where it leaves John Connor and Arnie but I'm fine with sitting back and letting things unfold.

    Fixed and you bet! ;)

But seriously, I accept and am envious you saw the movie spoiler free. But i stand by my belief that most people wouldnt have had the same experience as you with the amount of exposure the movie got on TV/Radio/Magazines, it was everywhere..Heck i havent even touched off word of mouth :pac:

Hah yeah i did feel lucky getting into T2 at the time, and that was only 15's. Fairly certain there was a lot of standing in front of or around me so not many people would see me until we got to our seats.

I was unsuccessful getting into Demolition man in the square with my bro a few years later. Lobby boy wasnt having any of it.... Bastard

It was called CNBC, but had mostly NBC talk shows in the evenings, not quite the same as the current CNBC variant.

MTV was in Ireland long before 1997. We had it almost from the start of MTV Europe broadcasting, although for the first few years it was a night time channel, coming on after one of the others finished. It was a full time channel by the early 90s at least, as it was there all through my college years.

Pretty sure it was on around the clock, it just played music videos throughout the day, no presenters or people talking really. MTV just playing music, crazy right? :P

I was 15 at the time of release, but even then looked very young so myself and a mate were ****ting ourselves we'd be refused entry on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was amazing at the time, first time going to see a movie without parents and what a movie to go see.

That old chest nut, i done that in the later years when just with friends, but back in the day they always had people waiting at the doors to check and show people to their seats if needed, also a lot of cinemas back then were pretty small, and didnt have many screens.

Couldn't do that back then, cinemas actually employed more than once person once you got past the ticket office and tickets were checked, and were shown to the seat, at the screen entrance.

edit: yeah, Nix just said that.

Can't say i'm looking forward to this installment, or any other one unless it is about the 'future war'.
Cameron being EP does nothing for me: he gave Genisys a glowing review and it was a poor film for the most part.

The poster of the2 women and cyborg/whatever has been causing people to lose their mind and i think thy're right to be sceptical. Cameron has said he likes having female heroes/strong female leads and he can write and direct accordingly but given the current climate in Hollywood, i think it could be pandering.

It's a single photo and the only piece of media officially released for this film: any scepticism is ludicrously disportioncate against the actual information available. People losing their minds only confirms what ironically 'triggered' snowflakes internet folks are, those who'd otherwise rush to decry anything 'SJW' that might offend delicate sensibilities.

What are you on about? The studio purposefully released the pic as a promo/first taste/set a tone and because people don't like the look of it, they're triggered? People can form opinons on topics based on the information available.
I'd expect such a promo for a charlie's angels film but a terminator film?! Gtfo.

It's one photo. how can anyone possibly tell the tone from a single promo shot? Cmon. My reply isn't necessarily aimed at you, but the kneejerk outrage is out there and pretty ludicrous and tedious; so the cast are female, so it's clearly jumping on a trend, bif whoop. Let's wait for trailer, it's not like Terminator is a barn storming franchise being undermined by trends.

Okay, if you didn't know what the terminator franchise was about, what kind of film would you think this would be based on the promo? Who would it be aimed at?

That promo isj't a random photo - it was deliberated over and okayed. They are setting the tone already.

They look like flesh wounds, not bad enough to expose metal. Similar shots in Genisys. Plus, it'd be all done in post anyway no?

    Also this from James Cameron.
This is a continuation of the story from TERMINATOR 1 and TERMINATOR 2. And we’re pretending the other films were a bad dream. Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multiverse. This was really driven more by Tim than anybody, surprisingly, because I came in pretty agnostic about where we took it. The only thing I insisted on was that we somehow revamp it and reinvent it for the 21st century. #T2

Some bloody cheek of Cameron to snark about the other films as a 'bad dream', considering he couldn't praise (for instance) Genisys highly enough - he was part of that films own promotional vids. Man's recommendations are obviously easily bought.

I used to rate T2 as better than T1, but on reflection T1 is the superior film. There's a brutality to it that is missing from the bigger budget sequels.

I agree with that point. Overall though I think T2 is superior. I like how the story developed, the T-1000, the characters - particularly the direction they went with Sarah Connor, the f/x, pacing, everything. It's a masterpiece.

Linda Hamilton’s performance in T2 was incredible.

To go from her character in T1 and change so much in T2 was brilliant

Wasn’t noticed as much because T2 had so many good things going on.

The T-1000 made up for that by upping the Terminator with guile and new tech.

It was like going from early, slow zombies to the zombies from 28 Days Later.

T2 is a stupid movie. Dumb and loud.

Not that 'The Terminator' is going to win any Mensa positions any time soon. But, it's a far superior film.

But, while T2 is irritating, it's watchable. The sequels just get progressively worse and worse though. We're at life support now. Time to put this nonsense out of its misery.

    Just no.

It's done everything a sequel should - developed the story, the universe, the characters, introduced new ones central to the story, drawn a conclusion (to a point). But it's an action sci-fi movie so it conveys and builds all this around brilliant action scenes and cutting edge effects for its time.
