Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Super snooker from Judd but good escape from Heathcote.

Ronnie was bigging up this Heathcote lad a few weeks back, so must be doing something right not to be lumped in with all the other trash.

Three frames in a row now needed or it's kiss goodbye to the English Open for Judd. Bit of an early shock on the cards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Think judds just got his worst frame of the season out of the way. That was a pure horror show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Judd 6/4 to win the next 3 frames. Not sure about that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Well the 6/4 looking a bit better now. Nearly fancy Heathcote want to get it done now as not sure i could fancy him in a decider, the way he blew it there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

One down two to go for Judd. Decent match this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Jesus Trump is doing his level best to gift him this match.

Can i still get tjst 6/4 on Judd :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

You'd have to make Judd favourite but who knows its a decider anything can happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

To be fair he's had more chances to win this match than any player should ever expect against the world No.1. Would like to see him get another, see what he's really made of!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Heathcote was a bit unlucky with the canon into the reds. And then if that long red had dropped he was nicely amongst the balls. But it's looking like a close shave victory for Judd. An early get out of jail card for the former World Champion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

That 6/4 did look very skinny when 1-3 behind but i guess this is why the bookies don't take chances or give anything away against the top players.

On the flip side, that 1/2, or close to it would have looked a bit generous for the other guy. Books got that one spot on.

Like young Hill i like this Heathcote lad and will look forward to seeing how he progresses. Nice to see some young hungry talent coming through.

Yeah you're spot on, bookies and their margins. On the exchange Judd was a lot closer to 2/1 which was a fairer reflection of his chances at that point I'd say.

Feel for the young lad, a bit more pace off that brown and he might have been well in. Being harsh at same time, he had some number of chances over the last 3 frames. A few questionable shot choices, but has time to learn too.

Needs to make the most of this opportunity here does Cahill

Off topic but anyone still using Windows XP gets my respect.

What a disaster for Mark Joyce. Surely the ball didn't vear off course so much over such a small distance? He really messed up there.

Joyce can stop shaking his head now as he got another chance to win that frame but missed two attempts at the yellow. Every time i seem to watch Joyce it's one hard luck story after another.

Judd immediately on the back foot losing the opening frame. Yuan in first in Frame 2 amd misses an easy red. Cant be missing them against Judd.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Judd has been throwing his arms up in dismay after three misses so far. Seems to be blaming the table for his shoddy play.

Whatever the cause, they're some serious misses. Yuan should be dead and buried at this stage and it's not good for Yuan that he hasn't capitalised on Trump's misses. Some seriously loose play by Yuan being let off the hook by Trump's misses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Looks very antsy Judd, for whatever reason. Yesterday too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Decent finish from Yuan there in the end. Can he finish it? Judd 1-3 down again.

    And Judd 15/8 this time!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Anyone get the feeling it might just be Judd's week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Great clearance by Ronnie there to make it 3-1. Playing some good stuff tonight. Long game in good shape for a change.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Yes typical Ronnie clearance. The side he had to put on the pink to get on the black was fantastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Selby 2-3, very slack tonight it must be said, chang should have been home and hosed already. Pity about Hill, would have had a big chance here.

Selby wins the decider. Not the first time that sentence has been written!

Bit frustrating watching these young players. Chang could have won that. Same with Heathcote last night, Yuan Sijun today. Seem to need minimum 2,3 chances to win every frame.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Thats incredible how the top dogs win so many close matches v the young lower ranked players, alright. In one way its nice to see the lower players doing well and taking a scalp while on the other hand you might get a Ronnie v Trump or Selby v Robbo match up or whatever. I never tire of the big boys pitting their wits against each other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

I'd have thought the top lads were a lot more vulnerable in these circumstances, just the whole weirdness and lack of atmosphere with the usual short format etc. In theory should lead to lots of shocks but not been that many so far. Same last month. Hill did cause a huge shock against Ronnie but it was top seeds who came through in the end. I suspect the same again this week.

Lilley should have it won already vs Murphy, but is facing a decider after losing frame 5 from snookers required. Having made a 72 break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Real surprise package this week has been Steven Hallworth with wins over in form Martin Gould and Yan Bingtao. Had 6 50+ breaks and a ton against Yan today which is fair going in a Bo7. Must have a look at him playing Anto McGill tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Was pretty ugly stuff from Murphy there. Heard him say earlier he hadn't been practising for some reason so may be off the boil. Well done Lilley anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,472 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Going back and forth to Dublin is turning into a disadvantage for Shaun these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Here we go again. Liang misses match ball and Selby clears up to set up another decider. How many times are we seeing this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

And quelle surprise, Selby takes it. Is somewhere back to his tough to beat best, but Liang had one, fairly straightforward, pot to beat him. Disappointing.

Judd finds himself trailing 3-1 for thd third match in a row v M Holt. He escaped the first two. I fancy he wont do it today. Would be a big scalp for Holty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Deja vu all over again. Holt already missed one decent trick there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

What a miss by Holt with the balls at his mercy. A ppor pink in last frame followed by an easy red here in Frame 6. Holt looks to be bottling it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Judds opponents have had eight attempts at winning the match winning frame so far. Will it be ninth frame lucky for Michael Holt?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Bit unlucky with the split. Might have used a bit more power.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Exciting final frame this. Both players had decent chances. Holt hanging in there.

What a poor shot selection from Holt there. His last shot of the tournament. Really silly. I think he fell asunder mentally. And Judd uses up his third get out of jail card to somehow stumble into Rd 4. Mad match.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Biy of a snooker treat today. Judd followed by Ronnie. Possibly Judd again later and maybe even.Ronnie for a second time too. Snooker Bonanza.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

The shorter frame matches were supposed to be a bit of a leveller against the top players but Ronnie has reached the quarter finals in 11 of 15 Home Nations events so far. He usually swats aside the lower players I think first to 4 frames is enough for the cream to rise to the top.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Chalk McHugh

Ronnie staring down the barrel here, losing 3-1 to Matthew Stephens. Stephens rolling back the years with some tidy snooker.

Was sure that red was destined for near knuckle and not going in.. Stevens' to lose now
