Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Picked up a few bottles of my usual fragrances in the Arnotts sale last week, quite pleased with the saving, though I need to expand my range so this thread has been quite useful for recommendations. I tried CK Obsession and CK Free which I was recommended and really didn't like either, I guess my nose must be broken as they seem to be loved by many.

I'm quite surprised Diesel Plus Plus hasn't gotten a mention here though, I love the refreshing sweetness of it and it's not overpowering at all.

I've used Cool water and Hugo Boss but the last couple of years i've settled on Armani Code.

Have a number of aftershaves atm that I'm fairly pleased with - 1 million, Armani code, Le Male, Channel Allure Sport

I'm thinking of getting a small bottle of Lacoste Red however - I miss that fragrance, haven't had it in ages!

Not sure if I should be going for slightly older fragrances atm however - nearly 24 and want to move away from teenage fragrances - feel this is what I might be going back to if I get Lacoste Red

    Any Suggestions?

    Gucci by Gucci is disgusting.
If you want an older fragrance go for something like Chanel Bleu

If you're in Armagh Niall you're closest one is unfortunately Victoria Square in Belfast.

That is actually only about 5 minutes from where I work and 30 minutes from where I live, quite handy, never thought to try there, cheers.

I used it a bit when I was younger than about 3 years ago my gf at the times parents bought me one of the huge bottles.

I never really liked it the first time round and that bottle is still 90% full.

Not a fan at all, never had anyone comment on it either to say its nice or otherwise.

Had numerous comments about it when I had it when I was younger so I find that odd tbh

I hate having huge bottles of aftershave unless it's a firm favourite!

Recently got a 100ml bottle of Bleu de Channel and I think I've found a fragrance that I will be using for some time - absolutely love it.

So that leaves my collection at:

    Blue Channel
    Armani Code
    One Million - Paco Rabane
    Allure Spore - Channel
Le Male - Jean Paul Gaultier
Only by the Night - Hugo Boss

Hugo Boss is nice and women seem to love it.
Women also seem to love jean paul gaultier le male. Don't like the smell of it myself.

Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver. Uber snazzy stuff!

(I posted this in the Facial Hair and Hats forum but maybe it should have actually been in here)

I am looking for a good cologne but would really like to test some. Some sample packs would be great, the more the better really.
I don't want to go into a shop and smother myself with different samples. Would prefer to wear them for a day.
I am happy to pay for any samples.

    Any ideas?

The one in the green box is my choice, been so for a long time, and yep they love it

But I tried a yesterday morning the one in the black bottle, just a sample, it was nice and could still smell it late last night

One Million is very nice alright but wouldn't wear it daily more of a going out fragrance.

212 Sexy man is a cracker though!

I picked up a bottle of the new JPG called Kokorico in heatrow airport last week, its very nice, had numerous comments about it already!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,573 ✭✭✭2ndcoming

The top two for me would be Bleu De Chanel and JPG - Le Male.

Honourable mentions to Chanel Allure Sport and for a more old skool vibe my fave is Paco Rabanne original.

One that I used to always wear was Hugo Boss: Energise. Came in red packaging. That was my scent... Needless to say my scent has been discontinued.

Sorta just making my way through the hugo boss collection now, some I like but none that stand out!

Boss Orange is smashing. Very sophisticated and smart. It's a great with a suit.

Can anyone recommend a "supermarket" type fragrance under Euro 15 that is pleasant?

Don't ever use fragrance but got a couple of functions coming up soon. My hand would fall off if I paid over 20 euro for a bottle of anything, not into designer/label type stuff!! Cheers guys!!!

Next have a number of Fragrances for men that are around the €15 mark iirc

One is called Terrain I believe and is similar in some ways to The One by Dolce and Gabanna which is a very nice scent.

They have another one that is also similar to Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier which is also quite popular

Just bought a bottle of Paco Rabanne - 1 Million, very nice fragrance I must admit. It was quite easy choosing it over most of the other options available in the shop.

But sure, what do I know? I'm only the guy who'll be wearing it, the real test is when the ladies get a whiff! :D

    Expensive stuff though

I have one friend who tells me it smells like I've been smoking when I've been wearing it!!

Most women seem to love it though.

I like Happy for Men by Clinique and The One by Dolce and Gabbana. However hands down my favourite is Red by Lacoste. The women who've got close enough to smell it haven't complained either

Favourite would be Issy Miyake - L'eau D'issey, with Davidoff Coolwater and Fahrenheit a close second.

More to add to my ever extending collection which I got this week are D&G The One. I freaking love it and so do the girls but it just doesn't stay on my skin long enough.

The third in my YSL L'homme collection "Libre" was picked up last week. Expensive enough like the rest of the range but equally good. Very summer smell to it.

    .

Found that myself too, even after a shower the fragrance doesn't last all too long

Been using Davidoff Cool Water lately, quite nice. A well rounded fragrance.

ye, my dad has that one. its really nice! hugo boss orange is nice too! but it really depends what you are into (i know this is obvious) Also, it might be worth it checking with your girlfriend (or friends who are girls) to see what they like.

Abercrombie fierce is what I've been using for a while and both guys and girls really seem to like it. Girls have commented on how good I smell so you can't go wrong with it tbh;)

    Tom Ford's Oud Wood

I used to work with a guy who made me feel weak in the knees every time he passed by me. Not because he was particularly attractive, but because the way he smelled. I had to ask. It was Ultraviolet (Man) by Paco Rabanne.

I bought a bottle and started wearing it myself (the Ultraviolet for Women is nowhere near as nice). I can't tell you how many times I was asked what perfume I was wearing by strangers (usually women sitting next to me on a bus or a train).

There is something incredible about that fragrance, something... mmmhm ;)

    Now there's an endorsement!! :D

EDIT: Hang on, you bought the mens one for yourself? What's it smell like?

:D Yeah. The look some of these women gave me when I told them it was a man's fragrance. I felt a bit pervy *giggles*

What does it smell like... it's really hard to describe. I kid you not when I say it made me feel week in the knees, I mean it literally. I just looked it up and it says on some website: it's "an interesting masculine fragrance, more intense and provocative than the feminine version". Intense and provocative. Yeah, that's quite accurate. In a gentle and non-imposing way though. Magnetic is also a word I'd use to describe it. One of a very few material things that resonates with me on a... below the belly button level... if you know what I mean...

I swear to god I'm not paid for saying this (I probably should be though!) :D

Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch. Yummiest smell on earth!

Very expensive though, can't find it for cheap or even reasonable anywhere! :P
