Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Guys I'm sure this has been asked already, and apologies if so, but could anybody recommend a good website to buy a charger cable from?

    Imported the car from UK, came with Granny Cable so all good there. Just looking for the public one, type 2 to type 1 I think?
    Main dealers here charging a fortune.

    I bought this one and used AddressPal for delivery. I wanted a coiled one and I figured I should go for 32A, even though 16A is fine for the Outlander. There was only £10 in the difference.

    hi, may i ask where you are and who you have for servicing your ampera ??
    i just fixed a charge door problem with a garage in wexford as vauxhall has no one in ireland to
    deal with an ampera. this is a major headache for me, and something i never researched b4 I bought it.

    There is just a shocking amount of buttons full stop. I’ve got a top spec GX5hs and it has blanks too. The interior is just a bit of a letdown. There is no on screen controls a la iDrive, and the satnav is a bit of a disaster, but it’s well speced, comfortable and cheap to run (assuming your commute is within EV range)

    On the lower bank on the right hand side there are buttons for LDW, front parking sensor sensitivity, electric tailgate, collision avoidance and pedestrian warning sensitivity. The 3 above that are dash menu, stability control and something else (I forget). In front of the gearstick are 5 switches and the centre is the only one that is used on mine - for heated steering wheel. There are other options in other markets like a 230v inverter and a block heater, so presumably there are blanks for those models.

    Only the later models have carplay/andriod auto. From 2017 onwards I think, and initially it was the base model only. I'm tempted to go aftermarket, even if I lose some of eco info.

    Big benefit of going aftermarket is that you can use Android Auto wirelessly (from Android 9 / Pie) if you get a unit supporting this

    My Ioniq comes with Android Auto / Apple Carplay as standard, but I don't use it. I have refused to plug my phone into anything for many years now, unless I absolutely have to :D

    Will carplay and auto only work when plugging in phone? I thought it would work over bluetooth?

    Not in any EV in any standard headunit afaik. But you can get aftermarket units. Mind I'm only commenting on Android Auto, I don't know anything about Apples :)

    35-40 mpg at 120kph. Worse if you have a heavy right foot. Better if you can charge at your destination.

    Ok for occasional use but if you do a lot of long trips you’d be better off with the diesel. Actually you’d be better off with a different diesel. It’s really only worthwhile if the majority of your driving is in town.

    My missus does occasional trips down the country with work. My mpg per tank ranges from 40-85 mpg depending on whether she’s been driving or not.

    On Wednesday I did 100 miles @95mpg with half a charge in the middle, but half of that was in town.

    Yes. In the outlander it runs the engine to charge the batteries. At higher speeds it drives the front wheels in addition to charging. It works best of your daily commute is within the EV range.

    Using Save mode on the motorway and battery in traffic should get you reasonable mileage if you know how to drive it. I’d say <4l/100km is possible.

    No, you need to add a concentrated mix of toluene and triple distilled sodium benzoate to the battery. Make sure to add the liquid before the battery reaches 0% charge or you'll be stranded.

    Just to let you know, My father bought a new Outlander a few months back and we have been testing/learning

    Going from Cork to Dublin via motorway (doing 120 most of the way)
    From Cork, with a full charge, we averaged around 7.1
    From Dublin to Cork, we did not charge it and just drove down we got 7.6

    Outside of these types of long trips, my father has only filled the small tank once in 5 weeks - he has a charger at home and every night plugs in it (mostly every night!) and finds he is getting 25 miles if needed each day with the option to drive it as a normal hybrid outside of this

    Great car - -would love one myself

    Some real world data - my monthly mileage figures from PHEV Watchdog app. It varies a fair bit when the wife goes down the country with work, but it's still averaging better than my old toyota hybrid (5.5l/100km)

    It's a full size SUV, so the boot is a good size. The Diesel comes with 7 seats, so the boot is likely not great with all seats in use.

    If you pop the seat bases up before dropping the seat backs then it’s a flat load area all the way to the front seats.

    One of my favorite things about the PHEV is that it still retains the cupholders in the boot for the non-existent third row

    So if you're carrying a dog/cat/mother in law in the boot then they can have a drink.
