Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a scoop and I’m sure woods knew it was one to. Let’s be honest most of us who’ve done it would know when we’ve scooped it.

You’d find it very hard to move it far on such a short swing

What I’d give to go triple bogey, triple bogey, triple bogey, hole in one

Following Justin Rose's 3rd place finish at the weekend, the gap at the top of the world rankings has reduced to just over .01 - 9.9739 for Koepka vs 9.9607 for Rose.

Assuming none of the top guys play again this year (or leastways, not in a ranking tournament), I calculate that this gap will increase to .04 in Koepka's favour next week.

But Rose will then take over as world number 1 for the last three weeks of the year, with a projected year end average of 9.77 vs 9.63 for Koepka. This is due to Rose's result in Hong Kong in week 50 of 2016 falling out of the reckoning.

He should have been playing modified stableford scoring - those 4 holes would have been worth 9 points to him.

I see Rose is playing in Indonesia this week, defending a title he won last year. The OWGR website is showing the tournament as being worth 24 points to the winner, but hasn't published the field.

Assuming 24 points is correct, Rose will need to finish 16th or better to move back to the top of the world rankings next Monday. To finish the year as world number one, he will require a top 12 finish.

He was in 4th place going into the final round

    And then this happened ::

    https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/golf/justin-rose-s-indonesian-open-meltdown-costs-him-top-ranking-1.3733028
Justin Rose’s Indonesian Open meltdown costs him top ranking

Justin Rose failed to reclaim the world number one ranking after a final round meltdown at the Indonesian Masters on Sunday as Thai Poom Saksansin claimed the title for the second time with a three-shot victory.

Rose’s title defence was effectively ended by a third-round 71 but, starting the day in a share of fourth, the tie for 16th with one other player or better he needed to replace American Brooks Koepka at the top of the rankings looked straightforward.

The 38-year-old’s putting let him down badly, however, and he started with a bogey before adding a double bogey at the second when he twice failed to chip the ball up a bank and onto the green.

Worse was to come at the 12th when he had a birdie putt ended up with a triple bogey, which he followed with another bogey at the 13th.

The Olympic champion birdied his final two holes amid gusting winds as a storm bore down on the course but it was too little, too late and he signed for a three-over-par 75 which left him in a share of 17th on six under.

You are new to boards I see. Have a read of the forum charter before posting again or your time on here will be short. That type of post doesn’t belong here

The term "west brit" being used as a derogatory description of Master McElroy. Its just not Cricket old bean.

I'd say it's this one specifically...

    Discussing Players Nationalities
It is forbidden to post discussions about what Nationality a player is or who they should play for. This is purely the players decision and does not belong on this forum

We went through rant after rant on the whole Rory Irl Vs UK olympics etc so a good rule to stop the trolls

Justin Rose has a chance to get back to World Number 1 without playing this week.
Brooks Koepka needs to finish T8 to stay at the top but is +3 and 30th out of 33 players after the first round of the Tournament of Champions

Justin is probably taking the week off to practice with his new clubs, you won't be hearing the usual "Put the new Taylor Made Driver in the bag this week" It's the new Honama this and that he'll be talking about but retailing at around 700 euro for a driver,I don't know what market they'll be aiming for..

Is he changing to a Honma driver too? I thought he was keeping TM through the woods, and just changing the irons

If you Google Justin Rose Honma,it says that he is contracted to carry 10 clubs including driver, Funny thing is honma's chief club designer has jumped ship recently from Taylor Made so Justin will probably be playing an M5 M6 driver with a Honma badge...

59 watch on Phil tonight. 11 under thru 16. 2 birdies for it.

On another note, shocking start for Seamus Power. 3 over thru 10

Edit: Jinxed it again!! Another year, another jinx of the 59

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

Phil finishes with a 12 under 60. Better than some 59s I've seen.

Phil was brutal in the Ryder cup - in fact so bad was thinking it was the beginning of the end.

    He is unreal.

I think Phil played too much last year and fell off a cliff later in the season.
If you remember he started well last season too.
He is heading for 50 now and needs to manage his schedule better than he did last year.

Agree, I think the RC was a bridge too far for both Tiger and Phil

Watching the featured groups in the Farmers. Tiger can't buy a putt and is +1.
Rahm leads at -7 currently, Day -4. Neither of RAM and Day are in the featured groups which is annoying.

As I type the full coverage is just starting.

It is lovely to sit down and see Tiger back and so many great golfers in the mix.

One of the courses looks genuinely looks very easy.
    Little or no trees.

Going to be some season - with all these lads.

Mark Roe is a very tough listen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,656 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

I find him terrible. If he was a member in my club I'd avoid him like the plague. Its hard to believe he was/is actually a top golfer with the sort of sh1te he comes out with.

But then I just went to Wikipedia to see how good a golfer he actually was/is and while he must be pretty good the first line is this :D
Mark Adrian Roe is an English professional golfer, best known for being disqualified from the 2003 Open Championship for a scorecard error.

Starting to get a little interesting. Rose faltering a little with some uncharacteristic shots from him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,997 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Not sure what is wrong here.

Sound of crowd not right or no atmosphere.

Top leaderboard, but so many of these us events, feel like picking up a pay cheque.

Not a fan of Rose myself, so probably not helping.

Just feel you need Tiger or Rory at top to make these rather boring US events.

    Course looks very average too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,961 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Rose is boring for sure. If Rahm got going there would be a bit of excitement but he looks down on himself.
Runaway leader, Tiger on the other side of the course, no Phil, Bubba, Bryson or Dusty.

This course is average?? Seriously. I’m not sure what you want from a course. It’s a top class golf course.
