Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do you happen to be near inshannon / bandon?

The reason I ask is I see there was work recently done there on the airwire twitter page

I seen that. But no. I'm east cork. I changed dns server to opendns but no luck with that.

Don't think it's DNS. DNS seem to resolve quick enough.

Getting 2mb/s to blakcnight at the mo

Yikes, I am getting 2Mbit to blacknight also and normal upload.
But it's fine on some other servers outside of Airwires network.
Perhaps it's the fault of whoever blacknight get their connection with.

I tested some servers in London and the speed was fine to them.

Interesting one tuxy, yeah to london or Manchester is grand. Gaming on xbox live is rubbish though. As is IPTV.

Their port seems to be down in inex cork or echo replies disabled.

I wonder if that's impacting here.

I think it may be a problem with traffic routed from Airwire through inex

As far as I know Airwire have a 10gb link, so should be able to give you 900+

We have no presence on INEX Cork at all. You may confuse that with a provider of similar name, who are present down there.

That is correct. We have 10 Gbit/s links on both INEX Lan#1 and Lan#2. Lan#2 is currently down for maintenance, but that should have no affect on traffic across INEX, as there is ample of spare capacity.

I'm exactly same as liman. Airwire, ftth. Speedtests to airwire = normal. Anywhere else down to about 20-2mbs. IPTV and games all lagging/buffering. It's been the same for past couple nights. I think it's fine during the day. But havnt checked rigorously. I'm in Cork.

If you send us a mail (to support@airwire.ie) with hosts that you specifically have problems with, we're happy to look into what sort of routing they are taking.

Sometimes it's an upstream issue, but we try to engineer our routing for best quality.

But there must have been some reason that everyone was getting normal speeds for traffic not routed through INEX and about 2 Mbps for traffic that was. It's not a big deal, it didn't last for long but it would be interesting to know what happened.

We would need an email with a list of specific hosts, that this is happening on, while the problem is ongoing. Especially, when there is a good chance, that it is a problem outside of our network.

Otherwise it's very difficult to reproduce or track the issue.

I did some traceroutes but didn't save the results. :(
All the ones that showed INEX as a route had problems with speed but not latency.
It would seem the problem was outside your network.

Let our support desk know anyhow, if it happens. If it's a bigger issue, that can be identified, it can be solved by sending traffic for the relevant peers on a different path.

Especially if it is an issue that lasts longer. However most networks are fairly quick to solve their end, if they spot bottlenecks like this.

Not really, maybe slightly. I get 134 Mbps to the Digiweb server when I normally get 144

What exactly are you having problems with and I might be able to confirm with a test.

generally i'm wifi so was just testing tonight with hardwire.

hardwire to bk i normally get solid 900+

    tonight it's 300, but 900 to airwire.

granted nothing near as bad as the 2mb seen yesterday

getting 800 or so on uk tests.

    maybe something up with bk?

I normally get 142-144 with every Irish server on speedtest without fail.
just now it's all over the place sometimes 144, usually closer to 110 but sometimes 50

Yea it's weird, testing out some wifi devices that can usually hit 2/300 to bk or most irish servers and they're getting 50/60

    But to airwire always "normal"

    something is amiss.

Just trying to figure out what's going on with INEX, which is not really an Airwire issue.

I've always had issue with INEX, for example my ping times to Irish servers routed through INEX are higher than servers in the UK that are not routed through INEX. Nothing terribly bad but shouldn't my latency be lower to Irish servers?

I would have thought if the issue was at INEX Headshot should see it too on the same tests as EIR is peered there also

I don't believe Eir route as many connections through INEX as airwire.
At least things look like they take a very different route now than when I was with Eir.
Ping times are excellent to UK servers and the rest of Europe but much higher to Irish servers than when I was with Eir.
It's not a real issue, sub 20ms is still perfectly fine for what I need, just curious what's happening.

Here you can see how unstable it is to ping an Irish server compared to a UK server, it's consistently like this.

This has been the case since I joined Airwire a few months ago, UK latency has always been lower than latency to Irish servers.
Not a real issue as I use more UK and German servers than Irish ones. I just find it odd.

Good point. But the first hop when pinging UK servers is also 10ms and I get lower latency to the UK than Ireland, that's what I find confusing.

Actually I think all these UK traces are bogus. I believe there may be some CDN going on where it is routing to Irish IPs. This would be more typical of a UK route for me:
