Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Guys don't like to be called cute. :p

I'm from Sligo. It's different to Dublin meaning! ;)

Overall though, it is politer to just reply saying thanks but no thanks, you're not my type. I've ignored a few people who've messaged me, and they continued to message me, so I had to mail them to put them out of their misery :p

Guys don't like to be called cute. :p

    In a message:

    me: You're cute
him: I choose to take that as a compliment.

So yeah, why are guys iffy about cute. Cute is a good thing- where I am from at least. What's the Dublin meaning that Chaterpillar is talking about?

Cute often gets used by girls to describe men they are not attracted to in a relationship way, they say the guy is cute like a little brother or good friend relationship. If a guy is attractive to a woman they are more likely to be called handsome or good looking rather than cute.

That's the generalisation anyway. One step up from cute is adorable, worst thing to hear from a woman you are interested in.

I was thinking it's a very feminin type of compliment more so.

Feminine is good. Dudes need to connect more with their feminine anyway. ;)

Although I don't think it's a bad habit. I think guys should appreciate and even own this- it makes you more 'relatable'. :)

Don't want to start a war on this thread but any woman I have ever met that says guys need to connect with their feminine side I have always found they eventually dumped their boyfriends for not being "man enough". Be careful what you wish for! :P

OK well "adorable" is definitely friend-zone territory!

I think that maybe the Dublin - well, Irish - meaning of cute, is similar to "adorable" - cute like a puppy dog! I don't mean it that way though, if I describe someone as cute, it means I think they're hot/rideable/yummy/etc. :pac:

if I describe someone as cute, it means I think they're hot/rideable/yummy/etc

So if Jackie Healy-Rae is a cute Kerry hoor, then you think he is hot/rideable/yummy or is this an etc?

Hm never thought of that - very direct way that of letting someone know I'm not interested :o

Me too! I tell guys they are cute, means I like them, but am too shy to say they're gorgeous or gimme butterflies in the tummy feeling :o
    I'm a shy girl around guys I fancy :P

Jackie Healy-Rae is certainly cute, but definitely falls into the "etc" category of the definition! :pac:

God, this shyness thing, I really need to learn it! I really don't know how to be shy ... I have no shame! If I fancy a guy, he knows it! :o

A girl messaged me "Hi how u"
That doesn't usually warrent a response from me, I had a look at her profile anyways. My god but some people need a good shake sometimes!
    First off..txt spk..she's mid 20's, grow up.
Second off, (now bear in mind it was written in txt spk but this is pretty much what I could make out)..she wants someone to be with her all the time and when he is not with her, to be emailing and texting her, and wait for it...thinking about her when she's not with him.
I mean for effs sake, Needy MacNeedyson! "G'wan out of that" says I..to aul Mr Brennan..(rant)

Ah no, you're just right, I think I'm just afraid of rejection or being laughed at, even if it's plainly obvious they like me too! I guess my body language would give off signals though.. Sometimes after they hold my hand or kiss me I tell them... :D

Only your first? Dispite only seeking women I get about one e-mail a month or so from guys looking for "straight" guys because its more fun which is pretty weird when you think about it.

Aaaannd cue a load of guys staring disappointingly at their screens.

I see OKCupid has changed their site a lot. Apparently I get 13 views a week. Not bad, I guess, considering I barely go on there now.

Just got back from the date. He was exactly what I expected. Funny and cool and I still don't fancy him. :-( Now I don't know what to do. He was so nice and when he asked me if I wanted to go out again, I said yes. :o He was so nice- I couldn't say no. Now I feel like a ****ty person.

Imo I wouldn't go out with him again, it's not fair to string him along I think. Not your fault if you don't fancy him though!

I hate being asked that at the end of dates though, I mean you sort of have to say yes then don't you?
(Or at least if you're cowardly like me you do... )

Definitely! would be unfair to ask them on the spot at the end of the date imo.
