Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is this discussion just for complaints? No congratulations or thanks for a well run service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no well run service to begin with.

Platform announcement blamed a tech issue, driver blamed low rail adhesion for that delay. Three has been significant leaf fall but it wasn't even close to the first train of the day

What well run service? People at my stop still unable to board multiple trains due to overcrowding. Not an issue prior to the new timetable so they've messed this up. Not a huge surprise if people aren't thankful when they have made it worse for many.

I never see a message from you about the dozens of journeys that start and finish on time!
What a very odd thing to say

Do you work for Virgin trains or something?

what's your point in asking that question? because if you are suggesting he is saying that irish rail is the only operator who has late trains and all other operators are perfect, then you are mistaken.
    Yes mistakes happen but

mistakes happen, but no communication as to why the train is late, or that it's even delayed is unacceptible, indefensible and inexcusable.

I never see a message from you about the dozens of journeys that start and finish on time!

so? why would people comment if their train is on time? all though on time in irish rail land is 10 minutes late.
Is this discussion just for complaints? No congratulations or thanks for a well run service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's not surprising given it's not a well run service. some of that isn't the operator's fault, but the lack of communication most certainly is

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words.

At this stage it's obvious that there is no new timetable. It's just pot luck what time a dart will come. When it was every 15 mins they could make a fist of maintaining the schedule but every time ten minutes is completely beyond them. I'd actually prefer them to go back to what it was, at least I could make some kind of plan around it.

This is it, can't make accurate plans because who knows what time one will arrive.

Similar case on the Maynooth line this evening where the next station should have been castleknock but was showing grand canal dock

my going home Dart was cancelled today, I'm not too bothered because I only get it because it consistently runs late.
The Northside dart at Pearse was pretty full which was shocking considering the one I got on going the other way was half full, even after the cancellation

First Sligo service late at Maynooth as usual yet actually comes in to Connolly on time - on the wrong platform! 1 instead of 4, people having to run for connections particularly if they'd placed themselves for the right door and are now multiple cars down P1

Beyond a joke at this stage , the Maynooth train to Bray should be AHEAD of this.

I had a quantum 29000 that was on the Midleton, Waterford and Rosslare lines all at once according to the next station signs and announcements while actually heading to Maynooth.

Station was different in Irish and English at that

Cancellations tonight as per Irish rail Twitter:

    17:30hrs Malahide Bray
    19:25hrs Bray Howth
    20:45hrs Howth Bray
    22:10hrs Bray Howth

    No driver.

I think it's quite obvious that the 10 minute Southside service could easily give up a few rush hour carriages to give to the 20 minute Northside service but Irish Rail don't seem to want to do this.

I think you have the tip of the problem.

How are the trainee drivers getting on? Have they finished their stint with a mentor or are they still being trained?

How long is this expected to take before they are available to drive solo?

Would there not normally be? Obviously there weren't yesterday but is it not normal that there are spare drivers?

that's because they can't do it, because there are no carriges to give up. the 10 minute service is between bray and howth junction, and then trains serve malahide and howth on a 20 minute frequency. there are no carriges dedicated to the south side only, all go north and south.

I think what they mean is that the trains heading south at the start of peak rush hour are longer than required. These obviously become the later northbound services.

There is possibly some adjustment that could be done in having the larger trains heading south even earlier so that they are northbound trains by the time of the rush.

Southbound DART left Pearse 1min early.

A 29000 all the way to Sligo lovely. Will that set overnight in Sligo and work the first train back tomorrow?

I'm sure people on the Maynooth or northern line will be saying the same about the little intercity train they'll be getting in the morning in place of the 8 coach 29k they usually get.........

Thats what I was wondering so it will overnight in Sligo and leave a commuter short tomorrow was it a 4 or 8 car set? It really highlights how stretched IE are stockwise. Do NIR have anything that could be loaned or are they as tight?

Yes it will overnight and prob a 4 car. I think they are extra tight today after tree and cows getting in the way over the last few days.
they don't have any spair stock either.

They do but its irrelevant to the equation. Surely they will have an extra 2900 around.

How often is that happening and can they generally get on the next train? I've seen no mention of it say on Irish Rail's Twitter account where people are, rightly, tearing into Irish Rail but it's all been Northside.
