Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that the TA game of 2010 will currently be at Sennybridge on the 29/30 May.

This will be using the new BattleSim format and will center around the Chernarus Conflict created by Bohemia Interactive Studios in the PC game ARMA2. I have obtained the permission from Bohemia Interactive to use the storyline and the factions found in the game, which is based around a civil war in a fictitious eastern european country.

Many of the rules are being revised with updated medic cards (which will now be issued to everyone), in game mortars with realistic shell scattering, and tweaked airstrikes so that players in buildings surrounding the target area will be concussed but not killed.

This is just a few of the great new features.

I am also launching a new website in the new year, which explains the difference between the two new game formats, BattleSim & TacOps, as well as a complete description of the Chernarus Conflict and factions. I am also introducing a new gaming guide sections that contains guides on preparing for the weekend, command, communication etc.

    I will keep you updated.

You can also find updates on Facebook and Twitter

    All the best.

    Ian

If this is anything like PR3 it'll be great., :D I should be there.,

    Cheers mate.

The BattleSim games will be very much focused around the type of gaming you experienced at PR3, as opposed to the other PR games.

Realism is always important to me, but with BattleSim, gameplay will not be sacrificed in the name of realism. The same can not be said of TacOps :D *** evil sadistic laugh ***

Hell yeah. The first of the TacOps was great, dying to try Sennybridge and the BattleSim format too. I should be there unless my feet are nailed to something too heavy to lift.

On that note, any idea of when the next tacops event might be wormbyte?

At the moment this moment, no.

I was hoping to take it back to Swynnerton around July but its smack bang in the middle of camp season.

March and April is a no go for me personally with the new baby due.

Another alternative is to use Sennybridge and extend the playing area out in to Area 3 (the valley below the village).

July is the preferred date for me but its a case of finding a venue.

Since you have "artfully£ sidestepped the question, one assumes that you are in fact attempting to take a swing at me. So, you can kindly take your passive-aggressive nice-guy routine and stick it where the sun most certainly does not shine.

It would seem pretty clear to me that he's talking about Pudding in a light hearted way due to him playing for the other team.

So can everyone kindly relax. This is certainly not the place to be airing personal bull****.

Sweet baby jesus! After reading what was written on the other thead about PR3, I have to go to this. It would be great of all the Irish could get on the same side this time and really carve out a reputation as an Airsoft nation to be reckoned with. I will make it my goal in the New Year to be on this Jolly Boys Outing, even if I have to put herself on a corner in Merrion Square to get the funds.

considering the story line arma2 should give you a few idea and points to very conventional look, but depends what grand design ian has :), i would imagine its a bit early for details like that thought,

if it can be arranged and the plans work out we could see a strong representation of russian themed milsimers heading over 'finger crossed'

Start here, then read this. That should get you started. There's a kit list in the PR3 thread and the Berget 7 thread.

ian actually posted some more information today over on the updated forums

    Chernarus Background
    Background Details

Chernarus (Black Russia) is a fictional post-Soviet country.

The country is in a state of political unrest, with a western backed democratic government trying to hold onto power from pro-communist rebels. After many months of civil war, the communist rebels failed to overthrow the current government and set up the Socialist Republic of Chernarus. The Chernarussian government asks the west for help and the United States sends the U.S. Marine Corps via an Expeditionary Strike Group off the coast of Chernarus. The campaign starts when the U.S. Marine Corps' Force Recon is deployed to Chernarus to quell the civil war.

Civil war has now been raging for two years after a long period of political instability, caused by conflicts between a pro-Western coalition and communist-nationalist Chernarus Red Star Movement (ChDKZ), aka "Chedaki". After ChDKZ was defeated by the democratic wing in the 2008 elections, tension escalated during the so-called September Crisis.

With wide support from ethnic Russians in the Northern Province of Chernarus, insurgents attempted to reunite Northern Chernarus with Russia by force, but were defeated in the counter-insurgency operation "Northwind"“. By the summer of 2009, remaining insurgent troops retreated to hideouts in the northern mountains.

In the autumn of 2009, "Chedaki" surprisingly launched a major assault on government forces, led by infamous supreme warlord, nicknamed Akula ("Shark"). In a few weeks insurgents seized most of the Northern Province, and declared independence from the Chernarussian government.

After negotiations to join Russia resulted in dismissal by Moscow, insurgents installed their own government and declared martial law, continuing to advance to the western part of the country. Government forces suffered heavy losses and the situation became critical. Alexander Baranov, the prime minister of Chernarus, asked NATO forces to assist in restoring peace and order in Chernarus.

The Alliance alerts its rapid reaction forces in the Euro-Asian theater. It is decided to send Marines to the area to prevent further civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict between "Chedaki" and remnants of Chernarussian Defence Forces. A Marine Expeditionary Force is deployed to take control of the situation.
    Event Specific Background
    Background Details

The civil war has been waging within Chernarus for many years now and all parties involved are adapting to the new style of warfare being fought.

Most of the fighting between the chDKZ (Movement of the red star) a.k.a "Chedaki" and the CDF (Chernarussian Defence Force) has been taking place in the northern regions of the country. So the small town of Gorka which is controlled by a Ivan Dekorski, a local CDF commander, has been fortunate so far to avoid scars of war.

All that is about to change though as events bring together the forces of the chDKZ, CDF, NAPA and the USMC in to a desperate situation where the stakes are high and there is much to lose.
    Event Details
    The Venue

Sennybridge is the venue for CC1. This is a medium size FIBUA training village located within the Sennybridge training area in Wales.
    What is BattleSim

BattleSim is for players that want a faster pace game with nested sub-missions. But at the same time, BattleSim will still hold to the core basic values of MilSim (team structure, strong communications, low/mid cap magazines and limited ammo).
    How to book

Tickets will be available at the end of March 2010. Bookings can be made for individuals or as a group booking. A £55 non-refundable deposit will be required WITHIN 7 days of making your booking. The balance of £30 will be required in cash at the event.
