Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you own an echo or echo dot you can connect to sonos1 using the sonos app. Place the play in best position for your music and place echo device in best listening position.

I have the Sonos Play 1, not the Sonos One

Yeah you have to get an echo dot for that. The play 1 doesn't have any microphones

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭NellyMcD

Yes. Apologies you need an echo dot or similar to get this to work. It does work very well though.

I don't mean to drag this off topic, but I have the Play 1 and I have an Echo Dot, but I'm told they can't be linked in this territory. Any "how to" guide out there?

    Sorry for the confusion

Just update your Sonos software to the latest and it should automatically recognise the Echo and Play:1 are on the same network. You then say something like 'play the Rolling Stone on ****' The stars being what you have named your Play :1 device.

You need a premium Spotify account for this too.

You also need to link them in the smart home section of the Alexa app

Richersounds now have it at €149. My order with Littlewoods is still "processing", despite the website indicating today as the delivery date. Might be an issue.

If these were wireless I’d be all over them. I want something that can be moved effortlessly around the house so I might go for a Bose Soundlink Colour.

The sound off these is amazing to be honest, ive two of them in my kitchen setup as a stereo pair and its fantastic. I dont have a google home so cant compare but id imagine its better than just one google home if you had two linked. Im going to get a few more to put in different rooms.

Is there a benefit to getting the Sonos One over the play 1 and an echo?

If you would like voice control and don't have an echo dot device then Sonos One is the way to go. The Sonos One will also support Airplay 2 soon if you have Apple devices.

If these things aren't important to you though get a Play 1

Currently i have a dot and a few sonos.

Id like to get another for the bedroom. Is there an advantage of getting the Sonos one over getting the play 1 and the dot. it is cheaper to buy the devices seperately than buy tyhe Sonos One.

If you do make use of the dot and it's not in your bedroom then I would go with the Sonos One. It's likely to support newer tech more than the Play1 anyway. I say that as the owner of 2 x Play 1s

They are, other than the mains cable

    Think he means battery operated.

Yeah, that’s what I mean. I know it’s irrelevant if you’re buying a few and networking them.

If you're going for one with an internal battery, go for a UE Boom, or WonderBoom. Sound quality is prob better than the Bose one you mentioned, but nowhere near a Sonos.

    Thanks. Will check those out.
