  • Registered Users Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭Colking

Has anyone managed to get Now TV to work on the Firestick 4k version ? I 've tried a number of them and can't seem to find a working one. I went back to version 10.4.1 ad no joy unfortunately

Anyone oblige with a step by step on how to put the rte player on this? Want to put the toy show on for the kids. I've searched but can't get it to work.

I have it on my stick but it doesn't work, has anyone else had any joy?
I sent it across from my phone using one of those apps to fire thingys.

Have you tested the phone apks for those?
try asking in the nvidia shield thread in the Android forum, might have more luck than here

Virgin player works OKish with firefox but when you go full screen, the bar at the bottom of the player won't disappear, very annoying.

The tg4 app on the amazon store is useless too, tried it there recently. Hasn't been updated.

Nevermind, Netflix is noticing it's a VPN too and not streaming anything. Seems even UK content isn't working.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.

What exactly do you want to do?

Get access to American Netflix and UK streaming services.
I got the Netflix library but it detects I'm using a proxy, Other UK streaming sites aren't working either.

    I'm using KeepSolid VPN Unlimited.

I had problems today for the first time with VPN unlimited.

com.twentyfouri.tvbridge.rte.apk is the apk file, this is not a link.

    Heres what I did

Download apk file to phone. Here is the link :

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/qs19ckwk78ycisw/com.twentyfouri.tvbridge.rte.apk/file

    Install cetusplay on your phone

Use the cetusplay app on your phone to transfer and install the apk file to the firestick.

I looked into this a few days ago. AFAIK a sideloaded now TV app is never going to work, there are extra Sky blocks on them, think you have to wait for an official firestick release...which may never happen.

VPN seems to be working for me in general but the firestick and vpn aren't working.

Has it normally worked for you through your firestick?

Hopefully it's just a temporary issue then and I've just been unlucky with when I started using it.

Try getting a different IP address from the VPN if it won't play anything. Just reconnect until it changes, then remember that one if it works

And you don't need a vpn for all4 if you didn't know

Just downloaded this to my phone, and sent it to my fire stick through Easy Fire Tools. No ads & some shows are HD it appears, watching toy show now.

Cheers, yeah, meant ITV and BBC really. Tbh though I have the US one sorted now. I changed my amazon region to America and a few other things. Might see if it's possible to get an APK so I can get UK apps too if thats possible.

They have to change a setting.

For prime video on the stick After doing all the address/card(revolut)/one click etc changes to uk you need to ask them to set your Prime video territory to uk and you’re done.

    Right.
This yoke arrived last week and I just plugged it in.
All updates done, and it’s registered to my Amazon account.
So what would recommend I install now?

Kinda bought on impulse as my OLED already has Prime, Netflix, etc.

Have it powered from one of the USB ports on the tv, but when I ask Alexa to turn on/off the tv, it says there’s not enough power or something.
Do I need to plug it in?
I’ve seen an adapter on Amazon to take power from the USB to power it. Will that work?

Take a look at the installation instructions, it clearly states you power the stick via the power adapter.

    I know that.

But all my sockets behind the tv are full, and I’ve seen the usb power adapter thing on Amazon.
So it’s currently being powered by the usb, and has done all updates, etc. through that.
I’m wondering if it had more power (from the power or usb adaptor), would it turn on/off the tv via Alexa.

And more importantly, what to install.

Shouldn't be hard to test based on your setup should it.
You need to enable cec on your TV assuming you have it. I'd reckon that's the issue.
From what I cud see 5W power was needed mainly for video processing and other stuff needed less. So more power for streaming h265 probably.
I have an option on Alexa for this too and it doesn't work. I'm guessing it's because my TV likely isn't cec.

Re what to install, depends what you want to do. I mean you can install Skype if you want to call people or pornhub if you are into adult material. Why would you ask what do I install. What do you want to do?

    This:

    For £21

    or this:

    for €3.25!

    Your choice....

I plugged mine into the USB Socket of my Sky Box and it is working perfectly. Read it on another forum and tried it and no issues so far
