Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Signed up over on Jamma+ forum, there is a lad on there who does them, gunblade his name is on the forum. he serviced it, replaced the caps and the lopt and fixed a hair line fracture in the board. top class service, was back and all within a week! it cost a bit more because i had to get the lopt changed but feck it, it was worth it!

I have a nearly flat monitor in the donor New Net City cab which has some screen issues, I think its just the chassis that needs TLC so this might be an option for me.
How much was the service in all if you don't mind me asking?

    Edit:
    Just found that lads thread

yeh thats the guy, it was 55£ for the work\service\caps\fixing the crack in the board. and 45£ for a new flyback. then the postage. reasonable i think considering the work he did on it and it works perfect. a weeks turn around on it aswell so cant complain at all.

Grand, mail sent to see if he can work on the chassis I have that I believe needs some TLC. Its a Nanao MS-2932-S chassis I believe...need to confirm that though.

Perhaps a neat little board to use in a hyperspin setup?
It's just the board I'm talking about, the case in the link is just to show how it would look inside one. They will be sold as bare boards and full systems.

MAME would be fine as would emulation up to N64 and PS1 level but some of the higher end stuff might need a proper graphics card.

I'm keeping my eye out for a board that can run PC games like street fighter 4 but fits in an ultra small form factor case. This looks perfect but the graphics wouldn't be up to spec. Shame. It's a cool piece of kit.

I have a tiny amount of space in my hyperspin bartop. It currently has a P4 in it on a board I got from a HP small form factor machine running just integrated graphics, no card, and even that board is squashed in there with no headroom or width to spare. I'd love to find something that would fit in the cab but still run all the games I want without having to spend stupid money.

That little PC is still $400 too.
I'm looking out for something in a small form to pop into the Ikea cab.
    Mentioned this before.
I figure I can blow the money on a 3DS:XL, PS Vita or pimp the Ikea cab....
If I don't do it soon I'll wind up spending it on a WiiU!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,472 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

It's a perfect size alright but $400 is pretty steep I think. You still need to fork out for an OS too.

So, as a cheapskate like me, what are my options?

Buy a powerful little netbook, like the Samsung NC10. It'll run MAME perfectly and fits in the Ikea cab with room to spare.

And for a solid state drive, which isn't cheap. And if you want to avoid the usual paddy tax you'll need to pay for a delivery from at least as far as the UK.

    Could work out being pricey...

I've got a €180 xp netbook I got from Harvey Norman that runs mame and all my 8 and 16 bit emulators without any problem at all. Cheap machines like that are perfect for barebones mame setups unless you're looking to emulate more advanced systems. All you need is a couple of USB ports, an audio out jack and a VGA port.

    For a Mame machine? Nah....

I think the integrated HD 4000 graphics in the new i3 and i7 procs might surprise people.
You'll run Street Fighter IV no problem on them as you wont be playing in 1080p if its in an arcade machine. I've seen Street Fighter IV running well on the HD 2000 graphics so the 4000 should run it perfectly in sub 1080p resolutions.

Here's COD Black ops running. Not mind blowing but decent for intel integrated graphics.

    GTA IV

    NFS Hot Pursuit Online

Remember, you wont be running the latest games on this thing (except maybe some new fighters/shmups and they don't usually push the graphics that much) and certainly not in 1080p on an arcade machine. If you're using an LCD in an arcade machine or cocktail job then its probably 1280x1024 resolution at the most.

    Edit:
Here's SF IV on the older HD 2000 graphics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,885 ✭✭✭Steve X2

Looks nice and neat, but stick up a few non fisheye pics.
Also looks like you got a 161 in 1 mvs cart as well, yes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭safetyboy

Had the fisheye lens on the camera sorry :) didn't use the marquee as its empty, so will try source some artwork for it.

Yeah got the 161 cart but no slot that i paid for nearly 2 weeks ago.

Not used the jamma yet as I'm waiting on the MVS slot, I have a Jamma spiderman board but cant be arsed to take it out of the old machine, and yeah amp built in and using the ps360 padhack. Enough to keep me busy for a few days, I'll take some proper photo's tomorrow when I'm less excited.

Ahhh how did you manage to get one of those ps360 boards..they seem to be like gold dust.
Also are you running the 360 with out a Jamma board attached.
I've heard With out the board taking the load your PSU will give up the ghost fairly quickly

Ronnie has a Neo 19 for sale? I cant imagine that'll last long! if it isn't gone already that is.

Woohoo, excellent stuff! I love AWSDs. I would have bought one from him if he ever replied to my emails at the start of the year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Yeah. Monitor on this one is supposed to be in excellent condition.

Panel is only one player (only ever made one player) and cab paintwork wouldnt be amazing and little bit of rust at bottom near coin door.

    Otherwise it looks the business.

Hope to seal the deal tomorrow all things going to plan. Nearly afraid to talk about it in case I jinx it!

I literally sold my Egret 3 player panel to a guy on the other side of the world there last week. Originally bought it for my own AWSD. Shame I didn't know, would have held onto it for ya!

Was actually going to post up some pics of that CP the other day only I got too lazy, decided to take out the custom 2P one and pop back in the original. Cleaned it up beforehand. Wiring needed a little adjusting since the Start button is miles away from the rest.

@Safetyboy: Congrats dude she looks lovely!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

My plan would be to convert the panel it to a 2L12B layout. Even trying to locate a repo one is bloody tough.

Anyway. It's not immediately essential but I do have a list of mods in mind for the cab so it will be a project as well

Hope to blog it all with photos etc time permitting

As a matter of interest, are you going to leave that AWSD monitor horizontal or are you going to rotate it?

I still have yet to see one of them rotated vertically in person. Must look absolutely huge!

People are probably sick to death of me posting pics of my own cab now :D but we completely moved the sitting room around today. Manged to get a **** load more space around the candy. Was finally able to take a proper photo of the whole thing.

That's similar to the type of comment I used to get when taking photos of consoles. Ciderman used to call them 'boudoir shoots'.

Funny thing is, they were taken in my old apartment.

Why does every house I live in end up looking like a porno set?:confused::confused:

Yeah got it off Ronnie, he added the ps360 for 95€, could have hacked a pad myself but I just wanted everything working when it landed. Had to take the front door of the apt of the hinges to get it in. Worth it though :)

I have the Hori arcade stick for the 360 that i can gut for the 2 player. That Toshiba trisync looks sweet. Looking forward to hooking up the dreamcast for some lightgun axion too.
