That's it in a nutshell. Paying anything for friesian bulls is madness. Sad, but it's reality from a beef farmers point of view.

Beef farmers can’t wait to throw some of their sfp to dairy farmers.

As regards why exporters are paying so much...it’s the big game.
The seasonal supply from Ireland is used to keep prices in the Eu depressed...later on when supply dries up from Ireland prices will rise. Simple as.

When prices rise for holx heifers, usually around May, I swap them out for holx bulls.

A dealer up my way is advertising fr bulls on done deal for 130€. He must be buying them for around 80€ as you say. Claiming these are out of British Fr cows!
I often wounder with lads like that..why do they bother? (Diseal,commissioned, cost of keeping them right and adds).
