There are a lot of be friesian's about but when You go to look at them they have more in common with the jersey isles than mainland Britain.

That's it in a nutshell. Paying anything for friesian bulls is madness. Sad, but it's reality from a beef farmers point of view.

Beef farmers can’t wait to throw some of their sfp to dairy farmers.

As regards why exporters are paying so much...it’s the big game.
The seasonal supply from Ireland is used to keep prices in the Eu depressed...later on when supply dries up from Ireland prices will rise. Simple as.

Ireland are not the only other country in Europe that produce calves.....I happily take whatever price is on offer for my calves. Lads just cant keep their hands in their pockets at the ring. Only people to blame for tge price of calves is the fools paying stupid money

Exactly.

When prices rise for holx heifers, usually around May, I swap them out for holx bulls.

I find the first few weeks there can be a share of autumn calves in which would make a good price, also 2 weeks ago there were a share of calves pictured in the mart that were Jan 18 born but looked a bit well developed shall we say
