Downloadan now. Steam name is jesusjim, just became a pc master race so im a little new to the scene but i should be playing alot of this from sunday on if anyone wants to add me

Yeah lads it would actually be a decent idea if people who are interested in banding together stick there steam Nickname on here and we add each other and when were up for a game we can see who's online. Mine is same as here : Fawkon

Myself and Balkie just spent the last few hours roaming around. Got some good guns, and managed to replace the backpack that disappeared from my gear when i went swimming. Stumbled upon a ruined castle on the top of a hill, with some people sleeping and stole all their stuff. We pretty much took everything, and legged it. Was hilarious. Then i somehow dropped my flashlight and all my rifle ammo and it disappeared. Camped out now for an hour or so break.

By god it's good fun. So tense at times, and when it works its fantastic. If we can get a server for ourselves, it will be brilliant :P

I probably won't get a chance to play until tomorrow evening, but I'm completely free then until Wednesday so I can play 72hours straight if I want to.

About 8pm tomorrow does anybody want to team up with me? I'll be needing someone to teach me the ropes if I want to survive more than 10mins.

It's been a very long journey and from nearly giving up last night with no bullets and low resources to now having a companion, healthy resources and bullets, I feel like i'm now ready to take on the world!

Jelly that last blue circle is approx where we are now located which i think is heading toward your group. Let me know what server you will be on.

Thats close to devils Perch which i believe is the ruins mentioned about, there an airfield nearby

Got this game installed and can get on a server. However when I spawn I have no sound,hud and cannot move. I am just stuck in a forest unable to do anything. If i press escape and respawn I can move around but cannot interact with anything. Anyone else have this problem?

The server is running something you dont have.

Then ensure you have them or join one running only @dayz

That was happening on any of the european servers i tried earlier. Get on one of the US ones with low ping. NY1 had around 110ms earlier, and ran perfectly.

I'm close to that blue circle but won't be on until later tonight anyways.

Was wandering around in the wilderness for ages and found shìt loads of stuff in a barn: Map, compass, matches, watch, hunting knife, loads and loads of winchester ammo, enfield rifle (didn't take it), big ass backpack, far too many bandages to carry, loads of frank & beans, etc.

For once I felt ready to take on the zombies who I was dropping like flies as I came across them..........though a few did scare the shìte out of me on a few ocassions. Had 16 chase after me into a building at one point, I was freaking out so much I could barely get in the door as I heard all their screams get louder :pac: Good thing they slow down indoors.

Was out in the wilderness for ages when I came across 2 guys on the main road, tried calling to them but no response so I didn't want to take any chances with them. Got to a small town close to that blue circle where some guy got swamped with an army of zombies. No idea what happened to him but I wasn't going hanging around since the zombies were everywhere.

Had some epic game earlier. Managed to pick up a sniper rifle in a barn and moved on to a church in a big town to get supplies. Next thing I know a guy comes right through the door and looks at me, I say I'm friendly and then just gun him down as I didn't want to take any chances.

A guy on chat says he heard a shot and I said to come help, a bandit was shooting at me, as soon as he walked thruogh the door I blew him away and then had plenty of supplies.

Moved to another end of the town and climbed up a tower with the sniper rifle, caught a bandit in the middle of the street, it was epic. Eventually got gunned down by 2 guys as I tried to move on to the next town. I've had some of the best gaming moments ever playing this!

Think we are trying to head back towards Zelenogorsk so won't be too far away once your online. Seem to be a bit lost at moment though we have a couple of maps but no compass. Also its getting dark so i'm expecting us to lose each other in the woods as someone lost the flashlight

Tried joining you but it says not same version? i have the latest. Pity woulda enjoyed roaming around with a few irish lads for once

You might not have latest version of Arma 2 OA.... a lot of the server use the latest beta patches.

You can get them from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
Latest beta patch is ARMA2_OA_Build_92612.zip (which quite a few servers use).

The best thing this is the patch has backwards compatability

If you want to get it working let me know as you need to edit the cmd file (quite easy) or else we can come join another server though we have been having difficulties

I used that launcher myself, can i use the beta with it and treat it like an expansion/add on? Also is it usual to wait long for SERVER RESPONSE TIME when i get into a lobby?

I've added you there... its balkieb btw.

In case someone else wants to join you just run the update file in the zip file that you downloaded.

Once it updates you will see _runA2CO_beta.cmd in your steam directory (Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead).

Right-click and edit this and scroll down till you see the :run part near the end of the file and copy this over it:

:run
call "%_ARMA2OAPATH%\Expansion\beta\ARMA2OA.exe" "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca" "-mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=@dayz"

Now just run the game from this cmd file and you will have access to the server.

You need to have ArmaII Operation Arrowhead aswell, if you have it then just follow the steps laid out in the last few posts

So what is the best way to for us to ensure that as many as possible of us play together? If Fairy can get a server then it'll be a lot easier but I was thinking of either a Steam group or using a "team" in gametracker.

I'll post a link to an online file where we can list players boards, arma and Steam nicks and we can get something together.

It would make it easier to identify some potentially non-threatening survivors.

That US5 server was fun but it was hardcore mode (no 3rd person and no crosshair) and still early daytime so hopefully can find one that no either of those things.

theres an option to point it to the betas.

For patching just patch Arrowhead to the latest most servers running beta batches so the launcer sorts out a lot of poop.

Personally I prefer the hardcore ones.

I think we should choose a couple of servers that will be the primary ones rather than choosing random ones. If those are full then of course look elsewhere.

Which should be impossible as I was in middle of forest in middle of nowhere!

6 of us (with boards tags) online but in 6 different servers.

I think that with the goal that we all try to get to play together, we should decide on a certain area/town and head there (no matter what server we are on) to make it easier once we're on the same server.

Do you need to use the username as [boards] before your actual username or can you assign a prefix manually after registration? Ill rename my ARMA profile to [boards]Cravez also

Also guys, does anyone know how you can bring your humanity up or how to change from bandit to survivor? I relogged back into my character (didn't know it saved your gear and location) and I only noticed I became a bandit after shooting the guy (from my first experience story here) that was shooting me and I killed him in self defense.

Yeah that would be great. Would love to try and get a car going. I must download a copy of the map as I haven't a clue where I am half the time.

I'm connected to US5. Worked straight away, but its 1st Peron only with no crosshairs. At least I can play though.
