Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There has been a bit of a lull in the wind since about 2am but is starting to pick up a little now. Not heard any thunder.

Lull in winds here in West Limerick since my last report.

The course of the night was pretty much in line with the forecast as far as I could tell.

It seems almost to calm in Derry here to warrant the yellow/amber warnings from Met Office UK. To me this is just a typical winter day with nothing out of the ordinary.

There is the odd squally shower, but that's all I've seen so far.

Stuck inside a room with no view now so won't be able to see anything until end of the day.

The 0700 reading from the K5 buoy is giving a wave height of over 52ft:eek:

Waves up to 15.2m at M4 now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 186 ✭✭shmaupel

Strongest gust of 76 mph in the last hour. Hail shower at the minute.

Will peep out later for some photos of waves!

    (South Donegal, on the shore)

Since I moved from Mayo to Southern Poland, I'm jealous of these Atlantic storms! I have to put up with hot sunny summers and cold snowy winters here:-) Has this storm panned out like forecast or is it a bit of a let down? It looked quite impressive on the charts!
As the front moves across Europe (Currently over Germany) it should hit our cold air (Currently -5c) and produce some more snow to top up what we already have!

Well I live beside airport and the wind was stronger yesterday, maybe it will get stronger

Speaking of Sky News, Adam Boulton was reading the headlines at 8pm last night and he said over a sequence of high waves...

"800 m.p.h. winds due to batter Britain!!" I suspect that woke a few Scots up :D

Meanwhile the larger Ferries are leaving Dublin as normal at the moment, wind gusting F:9 on the bay, I suspect Holyhead will be a welcome sight

It's cleared up into a half decent day in Galway.

Quick Q wind wise for Dublin? Should I walk or cycle to work, wind's grand now but slightly concerned about the speed of them later.

No, the aircraft will be torn apart by a tornado. Bring a parachute and a spare pair of underwear.

If you're not used to strong headwinds, your arms may get a little tired....

Have you considered taking the trip aboard an aircraft instead? I hear they're the latest thing. You arrive at your destination far less tired than if you fly the route yourself ;););)

Still very wild here in Donegal there doesn't seem to be any let up, impressive storm, I didn't think it would be this bad to be honest.

Unless you're heading for the outer Heb's Maxine, it should be fine.

I'd take the lucky rabbits foot, bag of salt, water from lourdes, gps watch, garlic, something new, old and blue just to be on the safe side all the same.

Currently experiencing strong Easterly winds .... thanks to my weather station rotating 180 degrees! Not overly fanciful of getting up the ladder to fix it either!

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Very rough trip. A lot of very scared passengers. We had a wing tip strike - practically a minor crash ! Not sure why planes are allowed fly in such dangerous conditions.

Literally no let up in Castlebar for over 24 hours now, still getting very severe gusts.

Just about to post that all had gone quiet on Inch Island, Donegal when the hail started again.

    Nevermind.

Usually only English people call Ireland Eire. It makes them easy to distinguish from people who know Ireland well.
