Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What are the risks ordering a bottle of Whiskey from Amazon using parcel motel?

    Always works for me anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 284 ✭✭steves2

I got bottles through PM before, never was aware there was an issue.

Cheers chaps. Ordered a bottle anyway so we will see how she goes.

The more posts about bringing it via parcel motel etc, the slimmer your chances lol, I wouldn’t chance it on a bottle of whiskey because losing it would annoy me for weeks
I just ordered a second box of beers from beer52 but that’s only 6 quid lost if customs take it

Why not? Why could it be stopped? If its coming from within EU VAT etc has already been paid, albeit at a different rate

    Excise duty.

    It's similar with tobacco products.

I just got an email from Amazon this morning that my Laphroaig has been posted (via PM) so I have my fingers crossed.

24x500mlx5% grolsch is 20 in tesco

My tesco had loads of the jameson boxsets with 2 glasses, also 20euro

Very good deal is using the vouchers in the papers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,362 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

Got 3 slabs of Bulmers for 50 euro in Tesco using the voucher from today's paper.

Under 70 cent per 500ml can, a personal best.

They also had Smirnoff for 17 euro but I see in the paper that Supervalu have it (and Gordon's Dry/Pink Gin) for 15 until Sunday the 2nd.

    FYI.

The SuperValu I was in, the Pink Gin stand looks like it took a hit I would get in early.

Picked up, Heino, Pink Gin, Vodka and Baileys 60€

Have the 10€ for Tesco so they will be getting hit. Present and the tins for myself :pac:

So not mentioned here, Jameson 70cl for 20€ in SuperValu.

Also not a wine drinker myself, but Centra have bottle of Yellow Tail on offer 3 for 20€.

Also number 2, in IT today, Blackrock Dunnes opening this weekend, they'll be giving out 5€ off voucher when you spend over 50€ T&C

I did it and it got seized by customs. After some forward and back I got them to release it as they understood it was an honest mistake, but once it was flagged to Parcel Motel they wouldn't deliver it! So a bit of a nightmare.

Tesco up North have a special on Whiskey at the moment- if anyone is travelling north of the border.
E.g. 15 year old Glenfiddich or Redbreast @ £30 a bottle- and many many more........
Sale is on until the 3rd December

indo/star & daily mail have tesco vouchers again today, 10 off 50. These can be combined for 1 shop too, i.e. spend 100 get 20 off.

Surprised to see heineken & guinness down to 20euro with these vouchers about.

    2 x 25 =E50 (48 cans)

on delivery note it was priced as 25 singles @1.99 =49.75(same value)

somehow got a 24 for 20 discount of 28 eur, probably based on single cans.

    not sure, not complaining tho

    Slightly off topic!

Looking to stock my own bar (wedding) in late Sept, 2019. Stock up now on alcohol and store?

If I buy 5x24 cans off Bulmers @80e (100e - x10e vouchers), that works out at 66e a can! Will it last/worth the effort of storing?

my bulmers, bought several weeks ago in tesco, has a BB of oct 19. So the ones in stock now should be that date or later.

So it will "last" in the sense of BB dates, but will it last without being drank?!

There's surely some irony to asking people can they remember stuff on a thread that is exclusively dedicated to trying to find cheap booze

There have been some very good deals lately across all the major supermarkets and it wasn’t this good last year, all depends what kind of drink you’re after I guess

Tesco have slabs of Coors for €20.

Not much storage space left, considering this for overflow storage out back...

25% off 6 wines in Tesco. Incidentally evening echo has a 10euro a 50 euro spend. I spent 300+ quid and the lady on till told me to buy 5 evening echo papers to get an extra 50quid off (post discount). Wine was practically free!

The small bottles of wine count to your 6 bottles, as do bottles of port. Sandemans 3star is currently €14 and with 25% off it is €10.50.

The small bottles are handy when you get a 2 for €5 deal which puts you up to €15 for 6 less 25% is €11.25 for 6 x 18.7cl bottles.
