Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering if there are many others aiming for about the 3:05 mark?

Wouldn't mind running with a few others on the day.

There's a 3 hour pacing group - worth trying to hang onto them for as long as possible. Good Luck!

Based on the 3.16 for 22m you are being conserative even going for 4hrs, you ve only an extra 4.5m (if we assume you ll clock at least 26.5m) so you ve 44mins to run them. Id say go with the 4hr pacers and you should be able to pick it up and finish around 3.55 if those lsr's are accurate. And I havent even taken into account the fact that lsr's would be slower than race pace. Have you been doing them a bit too fast?

I wouldnt let one bad half marathon put you off.

Thanks Kennyb - the lsr's measured on garmin so hopefully accurate. Felt very comfortable on them and hr was about that recommended aswell - I just seem to have no ability to 'up the pace' on raceday!! :) Yeah it was the half-marathon time putting me off going for 4 hours, but I really really suffer in the heat so I'll put it down to that and follow your advice and hope for the best on race-day!! :-) Thanks again great to get a bit of advice from those with more experience!

This one. Having done your long runs about 45 seconds slower than this pace, you should be all set to run that time in the marathon (assuming all the other training elements went fine).

...and I get the feeling that's the answer you want to hear!

I agree with this, I'm in the same boat as yourself and have decided to aim for a 4:15. :)

Defintitely anything bar no. 1 or even the 4.07 option. People will often say double the half time and add 10mins but that would generally be for sub 3 guys, i think it was shown a year or so ago on here that its doubly your half time and add 14 - 25 mins for most over the 3 hour mark. obviously it all depends on training and other factors. Id say go with # 3 as peckham says.

Thanks All and yes, that was the answer I was looking for but in a "this is what I was thinking of doing am I mad" kind of way. 4.15 it is.
jcsmum and ilovetorun - good to see some familiar names from the novices forum in here - hope all goes well for you on Monday :D

It's all out of my hands cause I'm running along with a friend to provide a bit of moral support (not pacemaking obviously!). He's hoping to get under four hours anyway. Imagine you'll be going for something a bit faster!

Seems to be ok since Berlin, I did the Cork to Cobh run the w/end straight after it but have been lazing about a bit since :)

Not sure where im at TBH..Had chest infection ( unreal I tried to give up the cigs...only when I went back on them it went away ) and found it hard to clear ..Might head off with 3.15 pacers and c how I feel.. c u afterwards for pint hopefully

I hope the wind dies down for you guys before Monday. Just in from a longish run and the wind knocked the $hite out of me. If it's the same on Monday try and get some shelter from the pacers or other runners.

So, not only are we expected to lead people to their PBs, but also 3 of us are supposed to act as a windbreaker for a couple of dozen people! What have I signed up for? Next I'll be told that I'm not allowed to drop out at UCD and hop on a bus back into town

Right...This is a taper question...I know from what I read that you can feel sluggish etc. during the taper period but does anyone else feel exhausted? My legs feel 100% but I feel like I could fall asleep all the time, literally!! I'm putting it down to the taper OR withdrawal from alcohol.....:)

Reading weather forecasts make a poor substitute for Friday evening wine, but here goes:

yr.no - I'll take this. Maybe even with a sprinkle of rain during the race.

RTE - meh, the usual "everything will happen today"

BBC - Pretty good, glad its not on Tuesday.

I'll be stationing myself at strategic point(s) making noise and generally trying to keep everyone in chipper form. :D

Hope ye all have a great day, enjoy the experience and achieve your goal for the day. Might even see ye after...

Best of luck to everyone for Monday - hope you all have a great run and get the times you want !

First time in 6 years that I won't be lining up at the start - ran Berlin last month and promised wife and kids that we'd do something this mid-term (other than "watching Dad run the marathon - again !") so heading to London tomorrow for a few days - will be thinking of you all on Mon. morning !

Way too many logs to post on individually so best of luck to all the boardsies running and a massive fair play to the pacers for giving up their time, legs and voices! Enjoy

The very best to everyone on Monday, that includes pacers. Its a great thing to do for people.

If not following a pacer Do not go out too fast.

Been great following this thread. Hopefully we'll have some good results afterwards. Enjoy.

Well its nearly that time of year again for the DCM, i've enjoyed reading all the brilliant posts from the first timers and experienced runners alike. The very best in running to everyone taking part and I hope everyone achieves their goals and most of all enjoy the occasion in coming up that home straight with the cheering crowd, no feeling in the world like it. Wrap up well on monday morning as it should be a cold one and good luck in running.:)

Damn, I knew I should have stayed away from this thread - I'm (almost )jealous of all those running on Monday.:D

I'll be at the six mile mark, cheering loudly, and McGrattans later, and I hope to see lots of you at one or other - or both - locations.

Best wishes to all running, I hope you all have a wonderful experience.

Good luck to everyone running Dublin on Monday! I hope you all achieve your goals and enjoy the day.

I'm hoping to run with the 3:15 pacers so if you see me say hello. I'm number 871 and will have a black/green vest and cap and a Camelbak.

I wouldn`t nomally jump in but felt I had to..:o
There`s plenty of water on the course (usually every 3 miles) so I`d strongly suggest not wearing the Camelback, its an added kilo or 2 that you have to carry 26.2 miles which is quite something when you`re "hoping" to run with the 3:15 pacers...
Now if you prefer having your own brand or flavour of isotonic drinks then fire away and the best of luck with it! Just remember to body glide your entire back - mine has ripped the back off me on a few long runs :D
