Doesntreally say if you can buy replacement battery

I'm sure once it's released you could get a battery. As we all know a 10 year old could easily handle a mi drone :) if you want it before Christmas I'm guessing it will have to be the mi drone 4k..

The 25 mins flight and then potentially a 2-3 hour charge time would be an issue

25 minutes, if true, is a fair amount of time when flying - can get lots footage in that time - and it is of course a removable battery - "Battery: 11.1V 2000mAh 3S LiPo Battery"

But the quality of the image and signal quality remains to be seen - so I would hold off that one until a review of that is in...

Oh he can fly the mi drone. But the phone requirement is a draw back. He actually wants a Dji Mavic Pro Drone but I talked his Dad out of that because from wat I can see it is similar to Mi Drone but with a couple of hundred quid added to price tag

There's a small chance you'll get hit. I think only one or two boardsies have had any duty to pay. Not sure how much they got charged..

No mate, same link as previously. It's now 382e so I'm guessing gearbest put the price up every hour???

Showing as €382 for me...

I did see they had a promo where you download their app, put the drone in your basket using your general interner app (or desktop in my case), then get the app, sign in, and use the app to complete the purchase, and they'll knock $30 off (which would bring it in line with the price you're seeing).

So I did all that, and i still didn't get the price. Will have to get onto Customer Support and see how I get on. These drones hate me. I crashed two and cant even buy a 3rd one without hassle.:p

    Maybe drones aren't for you.

My battery got the blues. I accidentally left it on charge for 2 days, and when I went flying with it, it was on full charge. Did about 2 minutes and got a low battery warning, land immediately. Happens all the time now.

So I'm I'm in the market for a new one. Gearbest right now have them for €58.74 Plus €5.43 shipping. BUT.......Ship between: Dec 24 - Dec 25 . I'm not in a panic, but would like to have something shipped closer to me having paid for it.

Edit: It's this one Original Xiaomi DC01FM Mi Drone 15.2V 5100mAh Battery - WHITE . Not sure if it's 4k compatiable

Edit edit: It's the same code ( DC01FM ) that's on my battery so it must be compatible

Ah I just use them a lot, and often under time pressures. Sometimes I get unlucky. :(

Though to be fair, i actually worded my post wrong, I've only properly crashed one.

I find sometimes when landing the drone, it'll 'bounce' a bit, and go a little sideways when it does. Usually easy to counter but last time it happened i accidentally sent it under the car, where i had to emergency stop it, but by that time it was already after killing itself, pretty much.

Other drone was in the back of the car when I was in a car crash last week. Impact of the crash fired the drone forward, smashing the camera clean off it and causing one of the propellers to break off.

Although the one I lost in the car crash had an issue with a 'twitchy' camera, that meant it was useless for video and you'd to take 5 of the same photo to make sure you had one decent one. So maybe having to get a new one will serve me well in the long-term anyway.

Fingers crossed.. They're a great drone. Just wish Xiaomi would give it a rest with their 'lol' style of customer support (it's not officially sold in your country, so we don't care' is their general response to issues).

Interesting.. I thought if you left it on charge, it'd just turn itself off when it's full (I know the lights on the battery turn off after a little while of a 'full charge'.

I've often left mine charge overnight and never had an issue. i'll be conscious of that now, going forward.

Yep. Was surprised that happened, really. I know not to let a battery in a discharged or dead state, so was charging it, so when I took it off charge, it would be in a charged state. Whatever happened, it did something to knacker the battery

Naturally, that offer has expired, and now Gearbest are saying that offer never existed in the first place, so won't honour it.

    I give up. :rolleyes::P

Looks like my extra battery has arrived in the Netherlands but the drone itself is still in unconfirmed tracking limbo!

That's a good sign on the drone, usually you hear nothing for weeks, then it arrives in the UK and you get it two days later. Annoying, but worth it in the end..

“The international shipment has been processed in the parcel center of origin“ is today’s update on the drone. I hope that means it is stating Germany is the origin country!

Hope so, but could be anywhere! The tracking system is useless until it gets to the UK.. :(

I’m using 17 track rather than the GearBest tracking so hopefully it is a bit more accurate.

You'd hope, but based on personal experience Asian tracking is terrible. Hope it arrives soon

Sorry for asking a question unrelated to this particular drone, but as most in this thread would be familiar with the offerings...

Can anyone recommend a drone for less than €45 that can connect to an iPhone to take pics (and will arrive in time for Xmas) ?

spotted this one on Amazon, but I think the reviews are fake: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ATOYX-Quadcopter-Altitude-Function-Beginners/dp/B07HH7W9VT/

Not sure in that price range although the one you found is definitely not fake, just very basic. It will be fun to fly around indoors but don't expect any decent footage :)

Would it not be much good outdoors? Or am I looking at one of the larger ones for any sort of basic wind resistance?

I'm guessing it's quite small, but flying one of these little quads is a totally different experience. I'd say it will not be much good indoors too, but will probably be fun.

Something like the tello, would do the job at a basic level, but is double your budget

At least there's lots of reviews to watch on YouTube. Can't see anything for ATOYX.

You really need to spend above 150e to get something that flies well in the wind, with GPS and altitude hold. Like the new Xiaomi or hubsan h501s etc. Then if you want something with a decent camera, you are starting at the mi drone or DJI spark at around 400e.

Aye that's out of the budget I'm looking at alright. I was gifted a Lidl drone last year that was around €40 and took some pretty decent low res videos, so thought there might be an equivalent that can connect to an iPhone specifically. The Lidl one just recorded using an onboard memory stick.

If you were brave enough to attempt to disassemble it yourself you might be able to see who is at fault, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGLKi08rW7w

Two motors should be wired Yellow,Black and Red while the other two should be wired Black Yellow and Red. By alternating Yellow and Black wire gives you direction.

Just to close out this earlier discussion, I managed to disassemble myself using the above video. If anyone decides to go for a motor replacement it is fairly straightforward but a bit time-consuming. Also, the screws are hex nuts which stumped me for a while but I found some very small allen keys and these did the trick.

Anyway, it was unsurprisingly a wiring issue which is now fixed. I hope to get the frame reassembled tonight and finally get this back up in the air. I just wanted to thank @spiller9020 for his assistance with the links and pictures to help me get this sorted.
