Ireland Women playing the World T20I qualifier for the next 4 days - all games start at 1000 Irish time. Coverage available for free (registration required) on https://icc.tv

Currently we're batting first against Germany, and are 80/0 off 6. A good start on a very warm day.

Ireland finish on 196/2 off their 20 - century for Gaby Lewis scoring 105*.

Germany were not at the races at all - fielding standards very poor (for this level), catching abysmal (at least 6 drops!) and the bowling was distinctly variable.

Can't see their batters troubling the Irish bowling at all.

This game was never going to be the one Ireland worried about, but it's good to put a poor team to the sword and get that NRR up.

Yes. You can only beat the team in front of you. Germany is at a different level but it's fantastic to see a century in T20 for an Irish player. And still only 20 years old! Congratulations to Gaby Lewis.

2nd lowest Womens T20i total for Germany.

    Very impressive performance from Ireland.

Germany finish on 32 for 3 off 20.

A little disappointing for the Irish bowlers not to get more wickets, but the German batters never went for it - they did a lot of leaves, and several play-and-misses too. Good tight bowling from the Irish women to keep them quiet.

A net run rate of over 8 is a good result too!

Tomorrow will be a different kettle of fish, taking on a Scotland team who won their first match today too.

    Tweet from CI:

"For those asking where to see the match between Ireland and Zimbabwe today, we have been experiencing technical issues with our broadcast partner in Ireland / UK. We’ll update as soon as we can."

    118 the target

I'd drop the top 6. Stirling and Balbirnie included. They are absolutely useless when it comes to T20. Their batting isn't even associate level. Genuinely the worst batting line up since about 2005. Woeful doesn't describe it. It's sad that even 117 always looked to many for this excuse of a batting line up. Dockrell at 4 and Getkate at 5, in international cricket....the mind boggles.

No doubt Ford wouldn't change a thing until the fifth game, by then KOB should have scored another 12 international runs and Stirling a couple of breezy 17s, although at least Balbirnie is due his one good game every 5!!

Another defeat, the team is just so inconsistent, it wasn't exactly a big target.

So 65/5 turns very easily into a very likely match winning score. I've lost count of the amount of times this had happened in the last 3 years.

It's time to give up the T20s I think, they don't seem to have a clue how to play this version.

They're making Ryan Burl look like Ben Stokes.

Yet again McCarthy conceded at least one boundary in all his overs. He cannot bowl a boundary free over, yet alone a maiden.

Over his career he must have conceded a boundary in at least 80% of his overs. His economy rate is that of a club cricketer, not an international. Despite this Ford keeps picking him.

CI need to get rid of Ford, the team has been woeful for 3 years and he keeps picking the same line ups, series after series!

So Zimbabwe score 152/5 off their 20 leaving Ireland needing 7.65 runs an over to win.

Zimbabwe having defended 117 in the first game successfully will be pretty confident of a win today.

bit poxy that in this day and age of technical advancement and with covid that there couldn’t have been cameras even just to broadcast match online, maybe have ran a few advertisements to pay for it, you’d have thought that would have been doable. Even just basic broadcast with a handful of cameras.

Ireland ahead of the rate from the get go, 31/0 after 4.

Ireland going well at the moment, hopefully we won't see a collapse! 43/0 off 5.1 overs

    82/2 off 11 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,856 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    120/2.

we should take this home at ease. 5.22 the required run rate and 8 wickets in hand.

Hope you haven't put the kiss of death on it lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,856 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

We just need 24 from 27 and plenty of wickets so all good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,856 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Dockrell with three fours in a row off consecutive deliveries to take the win for Ireland... great stuff..

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,507 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Brilliant from Stirling 115 not out and Ireland 178/2

Ireland have Zim at 56/4. Have to be winning from here

Yes a couple of loose overs first up... poor fielding and loose bowling... but the wickets have for the most part pur the breaks on the Zimbabwe train.

Misfields have cost about 8 runs though, ireland wont be happy about that.
