    118 the target

I'd drop the top 6. Stirling and Balbirnie included. They are absolutely useless when it comes to T20. Their batting isn't even associate level. Genuinely the worst batting line up since about 2005. Woeful doesn't describe it. It's sad that even 117 always looked to many for this excuse of a batting line up. Dockrell at 4 and Getkate at 5, in international cricket....the mind boggles.

No doubt Ford wouldn't change a thing until the fifth game, by then KOB should have scored another 12 international runs and Stirling a couple of breezy 17s, although at least Balbirnie is due his one good game every 5!!

Another defeat, the team is just so inconsistent, it wasn't exactly a big target.

  • Registered Users Posts: 729 ✭✭✭wicorthered

So 65/5 turns very easily into a very likely match winning score. I've lost count of the amount of times this had happened in the last 3 years.

It's time to give up the T20s I think, they don't seem to have a clue how to play this version.

They're making Ryan Burl look like Ben Stokes.

Yet again McCarthy conceded at least one boundary in all his overs. He cannot bowl a boundary free over, yet alone a maiden.

Over his career he must have conceded a boundary in at least 80% of his overs. His economy rate is that of a club cricketer, not an international. Despite this Ford keeps picking him.

CI need to get rid of Ford, the team has been woeful for 3 years and he keeps picking the same line ups, series after series!

So Zimbabwe score 152/5 off their 20 leaving Ireland needing 7.65 runs an over to win.

Zimbabwe having defended 117 in the first game successfully will be pretty confident of a win today.

bit poxy that in this day and age of technical advancement and with covid that there couldn’t have been cameras even just to broadcast match online, maybe have ran a few advertisements to pay for it, you’d have thought that would have been doable. Even just basic broadcast with a handful of cameras.

Ireland ahead of the rate from the get go, 31/0 after 4.

Ireland going well at the moment, hopefully we won't see a collapse! 43/0 off 5.1 overs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,800 ✭✭✭county

    82/2 off 11 now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    120/2.

we should take this home at ease. 5.22 the required run rate and 8 wickets in hand.

Hope you haven't put the kiss of death on it lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

We just need 24 from 27 and plenty of wickets so all good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Dockrell with three fours in a row off consecutive deliveries to take the win for Ireland... great stuff..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Brilliant from Stirling 115 not out and Ireland 178/2

Ireland have Zim at 56/4. Have to be winning from here

Yes a couple of loose overs first up... poor fielding and loose bowling... but the wickets have for the most part pur the breaks on the Zimbabwe train.

Misfields have cost about 8 runs though, ireland wont be happy about that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

7 overs remaining and 10.85 runs required by now by Zimbabwe, I’d back Ireland, Zimbabwe now 104/7... too much to do with only 3 wickets remaining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

So a seriously comprehensive and some 41 run victory by Ireland...over Zimbabwe placed 1 place above us in the ICC T20 rankings...great job, it never really looked in any doubt barring a couple of stray overs with the ball from Ireland.

only other criticism maybe would have been some indifferent fielding that cost us about 15 runs over the Zimbabwe innings but something to work on... overall very impressed with the win from the point of view of ball and bat and general intensity of our play.

Gonna take a monumental screwup not to take the series win from here. Is this not available to watch anywhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Was streamed on twitter by cricket Ireland same the last couple of games and I presume the same Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Zim won the toss and went for a bat. They are 50/3 at the half way mark of the innings

125 the target for a 4-1 series win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

ODI series is up and running, crucial world super league points at stake. Ireland won the toss and put Zimbabwe in, currently 47/1 after 10 overs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

A badly needed second wicket, Taylor out for 49

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    103/3 after 22 overs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Can’t seem to locate a stream, are cricket Ireland facilitating this broadcast of this does anybody know ? Thanks.

zimbabwe run rate is conservative at just 3.97 after 34 overs... they’ll be happy enough though with their total so far given they’ve only lost 3 wickets and both batsmen well set. They should have the ability to put the foot down.. that said a couple of quick wickets going down and Ireland become favorites.

zimbabwe only scoring a boundary’s every two overs.

Sean Williams the 4th wicket. 150/4

Its on BT sport Extra, also if you have ahem access to Australian Fox, its on Fox1 there or ZA Supersports Grandstand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ervine out but Raza well capable to doing serious damage here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Tail is nicely wagging, had looked like we might limit them to 250 or slightly under.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Josh Little was expensive his 9 overs cost us / him 78 runs.

Similar Sing bowled 10 over, 2 maidens, just 22 runs conceded and picked up 1 wicket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ireland been v poor in the field today. Unusual

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

267 the target. Not going to be easy

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,812 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

So 267, one of those chases that could really go either way. Lot of runs conceded in the last 8 overs though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Ireland will be probably disappointed with the Zimbabwe total, it was looking at about three quarters through the Zimbabwe batting innings that Ireland would or could limit them to 230-245 but they probably wouldn’t have been too perturbed at the beginning having to chase 267 which will be a RRR of 5.34.

fist six or seven overs if Ireland can start on or over that RRR quickly it will be perfect...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    64/0 after 15

    And Stirling out 32

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

A decent start with a reasonable run rate. If there is a criticism maybe there have in the Irish innings been many dot balls the last 5 or so overs which is encouraging the run rate to creep towards 6.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

After saying that, a single from the last over, after four deliveries Balbirnie needs to throw caution to the wind, 9 wickets in hand, no point in being conservative.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

About 12 runs off the last 4 overs, that’s absolutely dreadful even allowing for two wickets falling.... from being just ahead of the curve to being well and truly behind the 8 ball.. we need almost 9 an over, couple of overs ago we needed just over 6...

no boundary for 7 overs..piss poor to be fair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 729 ✭✭✭wicorthered

Absolutely awful performance. They lost every single key passage of play. Time after time the let games go from good positions. They consistently let teams off the hook after taking 4/5 wickets and the batting collapses every single game. I really can't believe how poor this team has become.

Don't be fooled by the T20s, if Zimbabwe hadn't rested their 4 big hitters with these games in mind, they'd have walloped Ireland 5-0. Zimbabwe will go 2-0 up, then Ireland will win a consolation game with Balbirnie getting his obligatory one good score every 6 games!!

Passports, the only hope for Ireland is passports because the players aren't in Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,789 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Over 40 delivery’s since there was more then a single scored, wtf is that all about ? We are going at 4.65 runs an over, more of a test run rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ireland 100/1 after 28 over. Fine going.....

    For a test match

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Super knock from Tector heading into the final few overs. Around 70 runs now from the last 7 overs or so. Hopefully a few more boundaries now at the end can get them up to 280+.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭VillaMad

282-8 in the end. Good score after a sedate start. Looks like rain may intervene in the second innings.

Todays match is optimistically set for 42 overs a side now. Ireland bowling after winning the toss and have just taken the first wicket in the 4th over of the game, Brendan Taylor in his final game for Zim
