Can I try narrow it down a bit; is it a feline?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Sid_Justice

    no clues

  • Registered Users Posts: 620 ✭✭✭aidoh

    Damn.
    I'm thinking it's a mustelid now, anyway.
Would I be poking in the right direction if I guessed Hog or Honey Badger?
    This is a good one.

It is interesting alright the skull ridge hints that it could have a powerful bite. The canines arent huge either.

The whopper zygomatic arch is confusing me. It better be a sickeningly cute animal, with the chubbiest cheeks ever.

Is it some kind of domesticated dog, because that will take forever trying to figure out which one.

    Man, this is tough!!

    not really

guesses so far have been, is it a dog, is it a cat, is it a hyena, is it a opossum

it's obviously a skull from an animal in the order carnivora, you're crossed off most of the groups, all that are left are the pinnipeds, mustlelids and the bears. it is extant, if it was extinct i would have said so.

    Is it a panda?

  • Registered Users Posts: 620 ✭✭✭aidoh

I thought it looked like a bear as well until you said no to Eddy's guess.
I also went fishing for a clue when I asked if it was a badger, but, is it a skunk?

Can we have a better look at the jaw, Sid?
If it's hefty then it might be a pinniped, if not then we can probably rule them out.
