Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

From memory, you just have to register with an email address when purchasing. I have had Vodafone accounts in the past, so I just registered with a dot missing from between my first and last name of my email address, so it registers as a completely new email as far as Vodafone are concerned.

Nope, not letting me. Not able to sign up as it's saying I need to put in a valid Customer/Account number. Argh.

Don't select where it says 'Vodafone Customer', leave that unselected. Just go down to where you choose which plan you want (which you don't even actually have to purchase).

    Ok, done that.

Again, sorry for the Qs but just keen to get this ordered before midnight.

I have it in the basket, but the €20 every 4 weeks topup is there too.

Do I give my number if I plan on staying with 48 and how do I avoid this top up cost? I assume I just pick 'Get a new number'??

You need to select that you want a new number (not keep your existing). Select whatever plan you want, but you never have to actually top it up. When the phone arrives, just put your 48 Sim in it and throw out the Vodafone one that comes with it.

Pulled the trigger on Vodafone. 10mins and no email follow up confirmation - that normal?

Yes I got none but phone arrived quickly and completely unlocked

That's good - was worried they weren't processing it until today and the confirmation would be after the offer.

Seems my phone got pulled by customs, UPS are delivering it, apparently they are known for charging you a customs fee when delivered, anyone else get pulled or have an experience like this?

Why would you get a customs fee? It's come from within the EU.

That's what I was thinking, as I have never got one before, but figured it was worth asking since I know family members have had to pay a fee before.

Where does your tracking show it coming from? Might have been picked at random to ensure contents were as listed.

Says it was sold by Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

My only big issue with this phone is the quality of photos taken by 3rd party camera apps. Snapchat, instagram and WhatsApp built in camera options are completely useless. Snapchat especially is horrendous...

The Galaxy s10 I had never had this problem so I'm genuinely hopeful some sort of update comes out

Yeah, that's always been an Android problem.

Thankfully Whatsapp is the only one of those apps I'd use, and I'd always take a photo with the native camera app then share into Whatsapp.

Anyone seen any actual 5g coverage anywhere? I spent the day in town today, working bang in the middle of one of the areas Vodafone are bragging about coverage but didn't see it once.

Does your account support 5G. Sometimes you have to request it with operator's.

It's the Vodafone red max plan. It said 5g ready and I only switched over to them recently so you'd assume it does.

But that's a good call - I'll check with them. Not that it matters really as it seems plenty fast as is.

Got my phone today after no movement since Friday in the Netherlands. Finishing setting up now and off we go. I'm moving from the Pixel 3 so not that long of a set up.

Which town? I'm about 75% certain you mean Dublin city centre but just to be sure.

NO sign of any new batches getting delivered from Google at the moment, from the sounds of it.
My delivery date is still listed as Nov 11th after ordering on Oct 4th.
I had the money returned to my account again at the weekend also

Yeah, I ordered a good while ahead of you and have the same delivery date.

My P5 ordered last Thursday via Vodafone is out for delivery today.

Yeah seems like if you weren't in the original batch at the end of last week, then you'll be waiting, which is disappointing.

So I've had mine for 5 days now and I must say I think this is a great phone.
The battery life is fantastic. I put my phone on charge this morning for the first time since Mon afternoon. It was at ~25% remaining when I did and I was approaching 8 hrs SOT. (Mostly Reddit, web browsing and Youtube)

As has been heard everywhere the camera is great, a massive step up from my previous OnePlus 3.

I don't game on the phone but performance has been perfect for my normal use case.

I bought a thin hard case from Amazon, the original delivery date was set for the end of the month but it arrived on Monday and the tempered glass screen protector likewise arrived yesterday. I also got myself a couple of wireless charging docks. Never had wireless charging but it's really handy.

Given all the recent news about OnePlus starting to preload apps and install Amazon app via OTA, the dodgy screens and reduced update schedule I'm glad I didn't get the 8/8 pro when it came out.

Mind me asking if you have Bluetooth enabled when getting this battery performance?
Do you have battery saving enabled?
    Dark mode or Bright?

I got some days of amazing battery, another day of gone by 9 pm..
I wasn't taking note of what I had enabled/disabled the days it was really good. I know Bluetooth being on will always use more but id prefer to leave it on for smartwatch notifications.

I had 10hrs at 1% battery and something like 46hrs on a single charge over the weekend, I don't recal having BT on/off.

For me it's almost a day and a half phone depending on usage throughout the day. It's early days though and once the excitement wears of it will normalise a little but still very decent and I hope it will consistently bring me 36hrs on a charge (plugging it in every other day at night).

If anyone else is uneasy from getting no emails from Vodafone since ordering and the tracking page not working... if you create a MyVodafone account with the same email address you'll see your order listed under your account. Phew!

Yeah, they're rubbish with emails. Anyone who has ordered the Pixel 3a knows the score with Vodafone. Mine still shows status as submitted, but has updated through all the phases of being picked, ready for collection etc, and eventually with the An Post tracking link.

That's good going. Mine just arrived today as well. I think if you order early in the week it's usually fast.

I'm glad I got my case and screen protectors a couple of weeks ago, but the screen protector doesn't have a cutout for the front facing camera :(

I went to claim the headphones but you need to wait 14 days from the order date before claiming.

My spigen screen protector is the same but I'm assuming given its glass this is probably better rather than having a cut our collecting dust/dirt in the corners

I'm loving the phone so far but have to say it's very slippery in the hand. I definitely need a case.

Nowhere near as slippery as my old Pixel 3! I have one of the Google cases and really like it. It has a cloth covering but is quite rigid. Machine washable too apparently. I've always used Spigen clear cases until now, but every one of them has turned yellow after a while so looked for an alternative.

    Yes, Bluetooth is enabled 24/7

Battery saving set to kick in at 15% (I stuck it on charge before then so not a factor, but I'm sure it would eek out even longer)

    Using dark mode

2 Pack UniqueMe Screen Protector. Cost me £11.

Good thing there were two in the pack as I balls'd up the first one

Strangely the phone came with an older version of Google Photos, easy update to get the new interface and features you might have seen in reviews.

Any of you guys who already received the phone using a Pixel Stand? On the tech specs for the Pixel Stand it says "Up to 10 W charge for Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL" so I'm not sure if it's compatible.

Tried out the astrophotography camera mode this evening... mind blown. Clear sky but city light polution and still captured some amazing shots.

The display is a thing of beauty.

Main gripe so far is the fingerprint sensor is a bit close to the camera lenses. Very conscious about trying not to smudge the lenses.

A couple of software related things I've noticed.

I don't have any battery stats, it just says battery usage data isn't available. My phone is also sticking up around 100% for a long time. I'd say I have between half an hour and one hour SOT, and I'm still at 99%.

Another thing is that developer options are enabled by default. I thought that was a bit strange.

I'm also getting used to not having 2 button navigation as an option. I'm trying to get used to the gestures, they're starting to grow on me.

Overall, enjoying it so far. The 90hz refresh rate is definitely noticeable, which is nice. Phone is a good size, I think a 6" screen is about perfect.

Fwiw, my battery stats are slowly beginning to settle down a bit. In the beginning it was showing 100% for up to 4 hours before starting to reduce, now it's only 2 hours. I suspect it was using the battery calibration data from my old Pixel 3 that I transferred everything from and it's taking a while to recalibrate.

I had that on my Pixel 3. Took some amazing photos of the Northern Lights in Finland, superior to any of the other people there with me with expensive DSLRs. Also took some amazing photos in New Zealand last year of a completely cloudless sky with no other lighting apart from the stars. You do need a tripod of some sort if doing the really long exposures though.

I was going to ask actually, what kind of gimbal or tripod to use for this sort of thing as I wouldn't be one for carrying big clunky tripods with me. Or could you just lie it on the floor with the camera facing up?
