Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Look at the message you were sent by the public appointments to inform you of you stage one scores there's a link for being familiar with the tests ... btw it's the verbal reasoning and the maths again ðŸ‘

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭Paddy 42

Does it give you the Same numberof practice questions in each assessment as the real test eg :
    Verbal Reasoning 17 minutes for 30 Q's
    Varify Calculation Test 10 minutes 20 Q's

Guys.. I am slightly jumping the gun here but I am wondering if anyone has any Idea whether a family member with a conviction will be an issue should I progress to that stage. I don't have a strong relationship with my cousins and some Aunts/Uncles for example so I don't know their backround too well. I don't have any issues myself, never been arrested or anything. Just wondering what criteria you have to pass for the clearance to go through. Cheers.

That wouldn't be a hit on your background.

If your nose is clean you'll be fine.

Just wondering is there many others out there going for stage 2 who live far from Dublin. Only wondering as I will soon be moving to back to Kerry from cork. I'm not sure wheather I am mad to even consider working in Dublin . I would be commuting to Dublin for the days I would be working. Then traveling home for my days off. The rota isn't scheduled as I would have hoped for with regards to rest days not being huddled together. The little extra I would earn compared to my current job would surly be wasted on flights, fuel and accomodation. Is anyone else In a simular position to myself with distance from Dublin? Thanks guys.

Are you saying you are planning on staying in Dublin a couple of nights a week and then heading home? Or flying from Farranfore to Dublin as a commute?!

I know there are plenty who are from outside Dublin but they all live up there and go home on their days off. Many of them simply end up relocating entirely to Dublin. The waiting list to get to Cork is simply too long. Could be over ten years at least...

    Hi people.

Does anyone know what dress code is suitable for stage 2. Should guys be wearing suit pants and shirt or would jeans be fine?

    Best of luck to everyone!

No dress code really for it. If you do get through this though and are offered an interview, don’t turn up in a full Barcelona tracksuit like someone did when I did mine.

The dress code today was pretty casual. Plenty of jeans and shirts/jumpers and a few in tracksuits surprisingly....

I would stay in Dublin on work nights and fly home then to Kerry for the days off. The more I think about it I feel as though its not a viable option. Doing it from ten years would have a serious impact in my family life.

How long does the orientation part of stage 2 last? I have a job interview the same day and I'm cutting it close. Would like to still go to stage 2 to keep my options open though.

Was is the same type of question for the calculations i.e , equations with multiplication, division, subtracting and a ? in the one sum?

I'm finding them hard to get my head around them. The examples in the practice test are no help as I can do all the easy ones lol it's when they get longer I go blank!
Did anyone find any YouTube's etc that help explain it 😣 Thanks.

Anybody got any other websites to practise verbal reasoning on other than the one public service sent us?

Yes, the same type of questions as in the first assesment.. u need to use BOMDAS for the longer equations.. if u google it, u should find somewhere explaining it..

The last day of the stage two assessments are on Monday the 30th April.
Did any of you guys who have already been and completed the stage two assessments in Dublin ask when the results are to be sent out
I'm assuming it will probably be second or third week in May?

Ahh right I guessed it would be late May alright before results were out
Is the verbal reasoning the same as the one we did in stage one 17 minutes for 30 questions?

Yes, and I’m sure some of the passages were the exact same as in stage 1, I def recognized some of them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭Paddy 42

Ahh right well it's just a matter of repeating the stage one proformance under little bit more pressure.so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭Paddy 42

So the journey home has begun.
Completed the stage two assessments this morning.
Cant do anything now only wait for the results end of May.

  • Registered Users Posts: 151 ✭✭Paddy 42

    Question guys.
How do they work out the pass(percentile) mark for each assessment?
Does anyone know how this is calculated?

What you mean like if you were 800 in results???

If that then there would be 799 ahead of you in results.

Hi yes so would there be a good chance of not getting through to stage 3?

Further down the less the chance.

I was thinking that but my friend got through to stage 3 last year and he was in around 700.

Yes but was that on last test online at home as it may well be different in the test in town and also some will drop out or not do as good at test second time round.

It's all depending on who gets through on interview also.

Following completion of stage two in Dublin your results will then be combined with your scores from the stage one on line assessments questioaire and job simulation .
This will decide what order of merit you will take on the panel.
There have been roughly 800 or 900 candidates called forward to stage two so far.
As people will appreciate passing stage two is still a long way off been offered the job.
Candidates then have to wait to be called for interview and once called the difficult task of impressing the interview panel that you have got what it takes to carry out the role of a Prison Officer.
You will see and deal with issues that you would never encounter outside of prison or very rarely.

Long time listener, first time caller.ðŸ˜

For anyone who has completed stage two I just have a few questions.
    1. Is the maths test the same material or close enough too what is on the careers services course?
    2. Is the maths a multiple choice answer or is there no choice of answers to choose from.
    3. Do you need to bring your own calcator?
    4. Was the verbal reasoning difficult and is it true and false or is it true, false and cannot tell?
    5. Does anyone know how close you have to get to stage one scores or is a pass sufficient?

Sorry about the list but any help word be appreciated.
I hope we all get the job.ðŸ˜

Hello, and I also love cake!

It's the exact same test as you took in stage 1, only this time it's supervised. They provided the calculator, pen/paper, PC's, toilets etc. all you have to do is show up with I.D, passport photo and booking confirmation. The verbal reasoning was the EXACT same (same paragraphs, same questions) as stage 1, so if you have photographic memory you're sorted. Don't worry about scores, do your best and try focus on staying relaxed and everything else will look after itself. Best of luck!

Hi how long do you get to do the maths is it 20 seconds and then 10 seconds to answer it? Or is it 20 seconds overall per question

    Same as passport rules really.

    Same as passport rules really.

I mean in the sense that my hair is quite long. Don't have time to get it cut by tomorrow. Having long hair in the passport photo they want wouldn't be a black mark against me?
