Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know if there's any/many bass guitars in stock? and what makes they are?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭Smiler

Website will be up in the next while. There's four of us in here working on it, and were working like lunatics. We'll let ya know soon.

Electric guitar brands were doing are Gibson, Fender, Cort, Ibanez, Peavey, Music Man, Aria, Epiphone and Squire.

Looking at getting Gretch and Eastwood in maybe.

Acoustic guitars are Taylor, Takamine, Tangelwood,Ovation, Martin, Collings, Alvaro, Lowden, Craftine, Garrison and more I'm sure I can't remember.

And not to be smart but we probably have the best selection of Basses in the country. ;)

That should be starting from next week - so drop it into us when ever ya like and Eugene will have a look at it for ya

I was in X-Music today. I think it will be great.

They're aiming to compete with Mr.T and if the Irish shopping public care to support them we'll have no reason to go to the internet except for pics of ladies .......

It's still early days but they've good guys working there, a fabulous store, give them a few weeks to settle in and we'll have our own very Superstore ...

  • Registered Users Posts: 715 ✭✭✭_sparkie_

i was there today as well, it is a really great shop especially the staff. the were some of the nicest people i have ever meet.
the cymbal room is under construction, the meinl cymbals were put up today so by next weekend everything should be up. there are also some very nice kits there, spuan, pearl,dw,pdp, gretsch and roland.

but the best thing about the place is the head selection! we finally have access to a more then decent selection of heads.(evans and remo)

all in all i love the place and will be back soon enough to pick out more bits and pieces.

that's great to hear. I know from experience when it comes to buying software stuff (especially digidesign stuff), it's essential to have good customer support if you're not an uber-geek (like me)

I've a good few purchases planned over the next few months, and I think Mr Thomann will be missing my annual 3k+ business. Now all we need is a nice coffee shop in xmusic, and all us degenerate music-heads will have a place to go to argue about truncation, intersample peaks, and maybe the Blizzards!.

what kinda of repairs will he do, just the standard stuff, or will he do the full on luither job ? I've a strat ive been meaning to get put together for ages(neck needing to be drilled in , and p-ups to be wired, maybe even a paint job), If he did the full thing in shop that'd actually be savage.

Eugene has his own site - http://theguitarworkshop.net/
He works out of a garage off South Circular road.

Any idea what the prices will be like ? Is there going to be a price list for setups, pick ups changes et cetera? It always bothered me that there wasn't one in Musician. Many guitar shops in the UK have their services prices listed on a sign.

Along with being a techno producer, I play drums, guitar, piano and dj so I'm always buying stuff.

Last thing I bought from them was a laptop stand! But that was only to get the order up to 200 for free delivery (I was actually getting a UC33e).

Suggestion for the X-Music guys....why not talk to Boards.ie about getting a commercial interaction forum set up like these guys?

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=241

Unless it's something you plan to do on your own website, it'd be a great way of interacting with your customers here.

    That sounds real cool...
I'm saving up to buy a Fender Highway One Telecaster.
Anyone got any idea how much that'll be for in that store? Cuz most other stores in Dublin seem to be selling Fender guitars at ridiculous prices...

If this store has a decent price, it can save me the hassle of ordering it from dolphinmusic.co.uk.

Ironically,Dolphin is €104 (subject to €uro conversion) cheaper than Mr.T's €666 so it would be interesting to see Mr.X's price on it. And furthermore,it is €899 (a whopping €337 more expensive than Dolphin) from Waltons. In terms of simple economic comparison, this is laughable and should be addressed immeadiately.

    I hope you are watching,Mr.W......

And and for those who work at X....Gretsch Guitars = DO IT! A Jet Baritone in February pleeeeaaaassse.

Well i no that thomann sell an m-audio axiom 49 for €269
i asked in x music and the guy said its the same price as thomann...€268
and on dolphin its a little less than €190 thats nearly an €80 saving on dolphin........i was intending on buying it from xmusic because i love it but if i can get it €80 cheaper ;)...even with postage its only €200
....even if the keyboard was slightly more than dolphin like €10-20 i would prob buy it from xmusic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,171 ✭✭✭af_thefragile

I've bought a good loads of stuff from dolphin in the past. Although they charge delivery cost and like to take their time to send the delivery, i've never had any problems with them and they seem to be pretty cool and helpful guys there. So i wouldn't mind knocking on dolphin's door again.
I wasn't really expecting to find the Fender Highway One Tele €218 cheaper than Thomann (€600+delivery in Dolphin while €818 in Thomann and €899 in Waltons), but Dolphin seems to be really doing a great deal with it (hoping its a proper Made in U.S.A. Tele).

Hopefully by the end of Nov i should have managed to save up for it. So if this X-Music place can do a better deal than Dolphin, i can get it from there. But if its more expensive than dolphin, i'm just gonna stick to dolphin. I've got good loads of stuff from them so even though they charge a delivery price, i trust them more than Thomann.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭tubedude

Yeah I agree about Dolphin. They would usually be my point of reference when buying something, they usually have the best prices and service to be honest. So I would be interested if xmusic will price match dolphin and digital village aswell as thomann. But that being said now I will always turn to xmusic first and I dont mind paying a bit more to keep it in the country, as I think everyone should. I will be spending around 1500 on some gear in coming couple of weeks and I'm hoping xmusic will be able to get everything I want.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 cianjg

Yeah i wonder if xmusic would match the price of dolphin and digital village cause they have the same price for that keyboard im looking at.......???

However i well be buying a keyboard stand from xmusic cause it was actually cheaper than thomann and its just around the corner from me so if they have it in stock ill get it straight away :D

    SM58 - €109 with x-music €94.20 with Dolphin
Focusrite Voicemaster Pro - €499 with x-music, €416 with Dolphin
    Boss DD7 - €135 / €118
    Boss DS-1 - €49 / €44
    Microkorg - €395 / €314

I wouldn't mind if X-Music is €20-30 more expensive than dolphin. If i can save the hassle of ordering it of dolphin, it'll be worth it.

Anything more than that, i wouldn't find worth it...

Anyway, ya guys know when this store and its website is gonna be up and running properly?

Yeah i totally agree i would happilly pay the an extra €20 just for the convenience of getting it straight away if its in stock and being able to return it easily as well but if there is a difference of €30 or more i would prob buy online instead
