My search goes on. I am sticking with the Joye and I'm off on holidays for 2 weeks on Saturday so I'll have to go with it while I'm away. Just got a 5ml sample of the Halo Tribecca which seems good. Early days though so I can't give a great description.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,476 ✭✭✭Samba

I don't understand why they suddenly changed, did someone lose the recipe? :pac:

    Anyway enough chit chat -

Review of old and new Joye Tob.

The old recipe reminded me of smoking tobacco from one of these but with very light fruit tones, whereas now I get the impression I'm vaping walnuts

I find it goes down well mixed with their menthol, but on it's own I've grown sick of it having vaped 2 bottles of the new recipe.

i just got some joye menthol from thevapourstore... it smells so minty.. kinda scared to try it

    --edit
oh my god, this is like vaping toothpaste

    the pain.. the ****ing pain
can't fault it for throat hit though

What strength did you get? I'm on 6mg, have tried no less than 10 other mints and menthols and I swear by this stuff, most tooth paste is mint/menthol flavoured :p

Reminds me more of Fox's Glacier mints imo.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

    i got medium, i think it's 11 or 12mg

i'm slowly, very slowly getting used to it.. i kinda have to since I filled my entire mega cartomiser with it so i'm stuck with it until tomorrow but it's still.. not great

i'd never tried any menthols before as i wasn't sure i'd like them, but it was you saying they were like vaping glacier mints that got me curious :) at least now I know menthol isn't for me. might be something I can dip into every now and again, if I run out of other juices.. but as soon as I'm done with this current fill.. it's being filled with something very very different

A good rule of thumb is to use the small LR DCCs for testing new liquids

If you're finding it too strong, try mix in a bit of tobacco flavour with it, that calms the menthol down and gives it a bit more kick.

Failing that, I guess it's just a case of different strokes but i'm also starting to wonder if they've gone and changed another recipe

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

it's more than likely just different strokes :) not a huge menthol man even though I do love my mint sweets, i'm vaping it as much as i can atm so I can use a load of it up andthen add in some joye tobacco flavour :)

    --edit

oh, right.. I just blew out the atty and most of the menthol juice just flew out onto some tissue paper :)

    now for my dktb

Joyetech eliquids are now produced by DEKANG ;) and two or three other factories.

And so my list of reliable liquids just got smaller :)

I've 8 samples arriving next week, if I can't find something I like by then I think I'll cry, or maybe just stop vaping ;)

Thanks for the info, explains a lot, I assume this applies to the Joye and joyetech range?

Yes, I got this information directly from Joyetech http://www.joyetech.com/product/liquid.php and also from other Dekang reseller in China.

Sisters bf just got his first e-cig kit. A joye 510 aswell. He got 30ml marlboro 18mg. I stole a cart full off him lol.

Quite a nice flavor. Tastes nothing like a marlboro though lol. Kinda like the tabacco flavor but with a sweeter after taste. This was off e-cigIreland.com

I just ordered 4 different 10ml flavors off Thebestshop.eu so will report back when I have them

Joyetech menthol - Is Dekang Menthol.
Savlon with a few mint leaves thrown in. Mmm.....Mmmmmm.
I don't dare put this in anything, I know already what it's like, this is the proper atty killer, Digby you don't know what bad menthol tastes like yet!
    2/10

    3smoke Range
    Marlboro New Forumla 14mg.
This is either the same recipe as the old/new Joye Tobacco and the only clear liquid I got, unfortunately I don't have the the Joye at hand to make a direct comparison.
Good throat hit and vape production with a pretty reliable vape.
    7/10

    Turkish 11mg
This one is interesting, anyone who dislikes Turkish delight probably won't enjoy this, with that said it's an extremely mild hint and it's more like a cured tobacco with a tiny hint of Turkish delight, this one could be promising but it's early vaping days.
Mild throat hit and medium vape production
5/10...to be revisited, don't think it's an all day vape but nice to dip in to if its your thing. EDIT - Gets sickening quite quick, shame.

    Tobacco
Is more or less like the joyetech tobacco for me it tastes like a cross between a herbal cigarette and herbal tea, not my cup at all.
    4/10

Have a few more which I haven't gotten round to tasting yet.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

I got a small bottle of turkish from thebestshop a while back, it's got a .. distinctive taste. I liked it, in small doses.. but I would never vape it all day, and it sure as hell wouldn't go in a 5ml carto. I think what I liked about it was how pronounced the flavour was.. there's just no getting away from it :)

Standard menthol 18mg PG from TheBestShop

I like it. Fairly minty. Very refreshing, Good hit and good vapor.
Dont know if I will like it as a all day vape though

Try to mix it with anything you want, I like this flavour even with RY4 (60% RY4+40% of Dekang Menthol).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 91 ✭✭bridgemond

Premium RY4 18mg from Thebestshop.eu. I read alot of stuff saying people love RY4. It is nice but not as good as I expected. I dont know if the fact I used my atty with menthol flavor before filling a new cart with RY4 would have affected the taste?

It is nice though, With a good hit and vapor. Only a 6/10 for me though

This particular one I ordered from http://www.sklep.e-cigar.pl it's under the 3smoke range, I see the bestshop have a dekang Turkish tobacco, it might be very similar if not the exact same. It goes down very nice with a coffee but it's by no means an all day vape.

The joyetech Tobacco is different to the 3smoke tobacco and so forth, but both are made by Joyetech, probably just a case of different recipes made for different brands but all coming from the same few factories as you mentioned further up. The Turkish 3smoke probably differs slightly from the standard Dekang, but again I can't confirm this as I've not tried the standard Dekang Turkish.

I limit myself to a few vapes and then put it down, but then it's really nice to come back to each time.

well seams im more adventurs when it comes to juice :D

Been listening to the vaporcast guys and decided to show my support so asked jack about geting some juice sent over to me

    I ordered

    Less Pro Adams Apple
    Prothol
    Strwpeary Chill
when the package came [within a week ] i opened it up and jack had sent me some
Safe Sex on the Beach and Southern Freeze aswell :D

    a 10ml bottle is $6 [€4.50est] and 30ml is $15 [€11est]

1st off these blew me away like no other juice i have tryed and i will defo be ordering more in 30ml bottles, the menthol is more of a sweet cool methol rather then a mint menthol

    Less Pro Adams Apple
    From there store
Same great Adam's Apple Taste with reduced menthol. "Pro" is found within, vape responsibly.
its like vapeing crushed ice and mushed up apple

    Prothol
i just had to use another review here as i totaly agree with it
this isnt just a menthol. it is sweet. kinda like mint. the juice turns into a light clear pinkish color to it. i like it. not seen a color like that. enough with the color. this juice is AMAZING! i dont like pure menthol but this has so much going on yet nothing going on at all. hard to describe it other than pro. if i had to rate it between blu cigs and an ego. this would be a solid ego starter pro kit

    Strwpeary Chill
Strawberry with a hint of pear and a smooth menthol vape. Not over powering, the most REAL taseing strawberry iv had

    Safe Sex on the Beach
Orange, cranberry, and peach. this hit me with a citrusy flavor at first and then then BOOM like Luke in his xwing you get the cranberries all waraped up in a Plotonian methol chill

    Southern Freeze
simuler to the Strwpeary Chill but more of the pear taste and abit more cooling to it

between a cave man and a AC-130 Spectre gunship there all ninjas

Anyone around Dublin are welcome to some and i will offer up the last of the bottels when im near empty or if we get a meet up going ill order more and bring it along :D

Only used the ecto chill so far and like the VpC stuff the menthol is more cooling then minty

It tastes like a sweet or drink from when i was a kid but i cant remember what that was

Its almost like a dilutable Lime in ice water and i will order more of it.

    _____________________________________________________________

I'm vaping 24mg VG RY-4 right at the moment and it's great, you get a ton of vapour from it and it tastes awesome.

holy ****, i looked at the site and never noticed that
    \o/

shame i'm broke after all the damn stuff i've bought the last week or two :D

18 euro or so for 30ml.. ntb.. what was the shipping charge like?

    --edit

hrm.. 27 dollars or 15 dollars for shipping 2 35ml bottles

so 70ml would come to either 48 euro, or 56 euro.. not.. *terrible* I guess. for some reason, I've got kind of a mental block that when a place has relatively high shipping.. I have to wait until I want to order a load of stuff from them, just so I don't waste money on shipping costs so.. maybe I'll wait until I can afford to get 3-4 juices from them.. but god damn I want that gummi bear flavour

That shipping is very off-putting - but I want some rum and butter. Maybe get together and share shipping costs?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

that'd be a great idea actually, but I won't be able to order until after the 20th :/

if you still want to place an order after that, I'll fire you a pm and see

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,255 ✭✭✭tommy2bad

I'l join in if it helps with the postage. After the 20th is good.
Is the postage fixed or will it get worse with a larger order.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

appears to be fixed, anything over 200 dollars gets the option of free shipping but sameprices for anything under

yup i can never understand why shipping is so high for juice from the US
i got 2 trays [48 cans] of root beer sent over for less then $15

id go in with you aswell maybe we could get it over 200 and get the free shiping :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 813 ✭✭✭mrplop

Don't think I'd deal with any company that so blatantly over charges for postage irrespective how good their product is. I know we're limited in our options but I tend to only deal with Irish companies which isn't a bad thing in the current climate.

i dont know that it's overcharging. They use dhl, probably to make things simpler for themselves and dhl probably have set pricing for overseas shipping.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,476 ✭✭✭Samba

Just be aware, if you all go in on a big order, you run the risk of being asked to pay vat on it when it lands on your door step, particularly with courier services from the US.

    www.inwera.com

Deluxe Tabacco (as it reads on the label) 6mg.

Bought a sample of this while picking up a base and I'm pretty impressed.

It's a clear liquid, no notable smell or taste but possibly one of the most realistic tobacco flavours I've tried yet

Medium throat hit and vape production, with a very subtle taste.

loses a point because the vape is a touch on the dry side.

    7/10

Maybe it's easier for them but I'd imagine it's lost them an awful lost of potential European customers.

Dammn the VAT man, how much could it be, anyone know?
I have relation in the US could we save by redirecting through them, they might break up the parcell as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭derra

Don't think it's worth the risk of extra charges with so many other European sources to buy juice.
Got hit before with a FedEx bill 3 months after i received an item, they get there items rushed through customs and pay your costs and then they hit you for it.

LOL using the quick VAT duty calc on the thread you linked Derra, e liquid dosn't even exist.
Might stick to EU supliers for group buys an just small orders from outside.
BTW anyone ever caught with stuff from China? anyone ever order from China?

    Jasus it's worse
However, it should be noted in particular that there is no relief (from Customs Duty, VAT or Excise duty) under this negligible value provision for importations of tobacco, tobacco products, alcohol products, perfumes or toilet waters irrespective of their value.
I'll bet they'l class ejuice as a tobbaco produce.

    OK I delved further
    200 US dollar value, free shipping, guesed the ins. at 5 bucks comes to;
    Total customs value: €153.82
    - Duty: €0.00
    - VAT: €32.30
Total import duty & taxes due: €32.30
    Total landed cost: €186.13
at USD/EUR exchange rate of 0.7504
We need 9 people to keep it under 20euros, less people, do your own maths. cos as you can see mine suck :p

are you using that with the vpg power smoke base? or did you get another base? think I read on here that there were different reccomended bases for tobacco and fruity/sugary flavours

I got the Dirty Neutral Base 6mg (eejits were meant to send 0mg), I didn't get any flavours with it as the plan was to use it to dilute and reduce nicotine intake, I tried diluting by 15% yesterday on a small sample but unfortunately it seriously reduced vape production, kind of disappointed tbh and I don't think I'll be going ahead as planned with the stuff. I'll try again with another juice and see if it's any better.

    www.thebestshop.eu - (all are 18mg Nic // 75% PG & 25% VG)

Pineapple: Not enough flavour in my opinion - constantly tastes like I need to put more juice in even though it's definitely full.

Blueberry: Really nice and refreshingly fruity. Nice big throat hit and lots of vapor.

RY4: It's decent, and what I expected to be smoking throughout the day - but have taken to the fruity juices so much more. Great throat hit and nice aftertaste though. Tobacco, Vanilla and Caramel - nice combination.

Red Kola: This is in my top 2 so far, excellent stuff - would love it just a little bit stronger but being a huge Red Kola fan growing up in Scotland, this stuff is really good.

    www.liberty-flights.co.uk - (all are 18mg Nic)

USA Mix(PG): Good big tobacco taste - this is supposed to mimic Marlboro and does so reasonably well, ton of vapor and really tough smoke hit - a little too strong for me(I smoked M - Lights)

Fruit Mix(PG): Tastes like Joly Ranchers a wee bit, but a good vape regardless. Doesn't overpower which unfortunately has that burning plasticy taste sooner than other liquids, good for something different though - I expect more frequent top ups though.

USA & Turk Blend(VG): Camel copy, I much prefered this to USA Mix strangely enough - I felt it wasn't as overpowering and definitely would consider this as my base for maybe mixing tobacco with something else in the future.

Grape(VG): This will be my all day vape - reeaally smooth but effective throat hit, plenty of vapor and a fabulous aftertaste. Definitely my favourite thus far.

Totally Wicked red label M/boro 24mg
No real inhale flavor, big throat hit, slightly sourish on the exhale, with a very pleasent warm peppery afterglow. I found this quiet satisfying as an all day vape, and a good alternative to smoking, though it can get a little harsh and maybe a little boring after sucking on it all day, actually a bit like real cigs when you think about it. I could imagine that I'm left with smokey breath after this stuff.

Totally Wicked red label Tobacco 18mg
SMOOTH dark tobacco tobacco flavors going on here on both the inhale and exhale, very like a good quality dark hand rolling tobacco, leaves a nice aftertaste as well, ever so slightly bitter. Not a big hit on the throat, but this is more about smoothness. I vape this cigar style occasionally inhaling through the nose for maximum effect. Out of everything I tried so far, this one would be the one I'd be least surprised to learn actually had tobacco in it!

I started mixing those two 50/50, filling a LR DCC and bingo found my sweet spot, more than happy to blast away on this stuff all day, though may consider dropping the nicotine a bit.

    Totally Wicked DV Menthol, 36MG
Not to be vaped on its own! This is a mixer, and is very potent so only to be used sparingly, TW say that this is the highest concentration of menthol on the market and I have no reason to doubt them. Love it, the Kelvin scale cannot measure its coolness! I'd imagine this would make vaping my own shoe a pleasent experience!!

I have a few more to try and will post up my opinions here when I get around to it... Particularly looking forward to the Absinthe.

    Totally Wicked DV Tequila 18mg.
No taste at all, vapor but I honestly can't get any taste or real throat hit. I know tequila is pretty much tasteless but I was expecting wow! this is alcohol! a hit of some kind, got nothing.

Totally Wicked DV Habana Reserve, 18MG.
Disgusting, to me it tastes like something that you'd scrape of the bottom of a decorative rock in a fish tank. Having said that, and doing a lot of wondering as to what they were aiming for, I think this is supposed to mimic the nose of an unlit Havana straight out of the case, kind of sour and a little damp. It's in the bin now, along with the atty, enough said.

Pineapple: Not enough flavour in my opinion - constantly tastes like I need to put more juice in even though it's definitely full.

Blueberry: Really nice and refreshingly fruity. Nice big throat hit and lots of vapor.

Red Kola: This is in my top 2 so far, excellent stuff - would love it just a little bit stronger but being a huge Red Kola fan growing up in Scotland, this stuff is really good.

I ended up buying these from DA365, and agree with the comments. The only thing is that I find the flavour could be a bit stronger. The blackberry smells so tasty in the bottle, but you just don't get the full effect when it's vaped. Same goes for the pineapple.

Though I've gotten quite used to the tobacco mint, so perhaps mint tends to have a stronger taste.

Red Kola is great - just like cola cube sweets.

    Dekang - Gold and Silver 18mg VG from the Bestshop - this would be a good one for anyone trying to quit analogues;

Smells like Worcester sauce past it's sell by date in the bottle but tastes very nice when vaped, not too dissimilar from analogues at all. The pure VG liquid doesn't have a trace of sweetness and gives you HUGE amounts of vapour. 8/10

Totally Wickeds-Decadent Vapour Premier Range: Absinthe, 18MG [10/10]
Good vapor production, wonderful anise flavor on the inhale and exhale, leaves a beautiful warm lingering spicy aniseed/peppermint taste in the middle of your tongue.
I'm a fan of good Absinthe, particularly Mari Mayans from Spain which is now unobtainable at a reasonable price since they stopped selling direct. In the bottle this juice smells exactly the same as the real stuff, and the vaping experience is, in my opinion, as close as your going to get to actually drinking a correctly mixed Absinthe. A word of warning though, TW don't actually say if this contains wormwood or not, a source of the toxin Thujone, and the stuff that makes absinthe delicious :)

Totally Wickeds-Decadent Vapour Premier Range: Doppio Espresso, 18MG [?*%/10]
Bonkers stuff here, big coffee taste that lingers in the mouth, kinda sweet which disappointed me a little, but not overly so. It reminds me a lot of the 'coffee slice' style cake. The juice is really thick so you have to warm it in a glass of hot water before it will drip into your atty, and I'd advise using a disposable one as your not going to be able to use anything else in there after this. The flavor is very good, but what sets this apart from some of the other coffee flavors I've had; is that this actually contains caffeine! I was curious when ordering this if the caffeine content was just a gimick or not, and I can attest that it is not, this gives a real bang, and the eye opener effect is VERY noticeable.

Self regulation is the best type of regulation, you don't like it, don't try it. It never ceases to amaze me how quick people are to jump in and tell others what they can and can't do.

Nicotine and caffeine fueled many philosophical debates; and mixing the two in a single delivery system like this may unfortunately spark one. I'm not endorsing it by any means, but it's done, I've tried it, and I lived to tell the tale:D

    Cigarettes contain these chemicals amongst many others;

    Ammonia: Household cleaner
Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals
    Arsenic: Used in rat poisons
Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber
Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid
    Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas
    Cadmium: Used in batteries
    Cyanide: Deadly poison
    DDT: A banned insecticide
Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals
    Lead: Poisonous in high doses
Formaldehiyde: Used to preserve dead specimens
    Methoprene: Insecticide
Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984
    Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element

Suggesting regulation over the use of caffeine in efluid is completely over the top.
