    Rumour mill in full swing...

KTM say no place for Dovi which I think only leaves Aprilia? Although, Rossi deal still not done with SRT and looking less likely the longer it goes unsigned, there's talk they've spoken with Dovi.

Quite possible Rossi and Dovi will be racing on four wheels this time next year.

Also rumours of Rossi racing VR|46 in premier class next year.

VR46 will eventually move up to Moto GP but unless they are going to take over another team there are no bikes available unless Aprilla decide to run 4 bikes.

The Dovi / KTM story appears to have come undone over money in July - if I was Iker I would still be worried about losing his ride to Dovi.

Ducati announcement imminent and where Bagnia , Zarco and Martin will be placed next year - factory /Avintia / Pramac respectively is the current issue

Jorge Martin to miss Misano due to positive Covid test.

Ducati have also unofficially delayed the announcement of their 2021 line up with Martin due to be announced as a Pramac rider.

A Moto 3 rider - championship contender reportedly - has also had a positive test , however a second test has come back negative. Results of a 3rd test are due.

Hopefully no championship is decided by a riders in eligibility due to a positive Covid test.

On a brighter note Bagnia and Cal ( arm pump op) have been passed fit for Misano.

Cal said earlier today that he'll decide after FP1 if he'll race. Recovery has not gone well with fluid build up opening the stitches twice.

Presuming Dovi is gone and Iannone's ban will stand... who's favourite for the spare Aprilia bike anyone know? Is it Cal?

Cal - Dovi too expensive, Dorna would like Cal to be in Moto GP.
Dovi appears to have no where to go.

Rossi hopes to announce his SRT at Barcelona

This is where I have a problem with a field based on passports.
Cal is a good rider no doubt, not helped by the RCV and the way it has been developed for one and only one rider.
Is Cal better than Dovi? results would suggest not.
But this is a fickle sport.
The top level rider market is not huge, and circumstances change so a class rider like Dovi may not have a ride immediately but as we have seen this year nothing is writ in stone.

Are ye suggesting Cal is being kept on because he's British? Poor form if that's the case. Next there'll be gender quotas

I'll be sorry to see Dovi go. He's one of very few that can put it up to Marc when conditions are right.

Confirmed that Zarco is leaving Avintia at the end of the season with very strong rumours that BastianinI is going to Avintia.

Ducati had previously confirmed that Zarco will be riding a Ducati next season meaning that it's a straight fight between him.and Bagnia for the factory ride

What's now in doubt is Jorge Martin who was supposed to have signed with Ducati - unless he replaces Rabat at Avintia.

Luca MarinI is believed to have turned down the Avintia ride.

    t.

It's always been this way - in fairness to Dorna they are doing a very good job.

Dovi and Aprilla would be very unlikely to happen - a Tech 3 ride is far more likely

Confirmed now that BastianinI has signed for Ducati - almost certainly to be placed at Avintia with Zarco moving upwards with Pramac or the Factory team with a current bike .

Rabat brings a lot of sponsorship to Avintia and has a contract .Avintia will continue to have Ducati support.

Miller is already confirmed in the factory bike with Martin is still to be confirmed at Pramac.

With Avintia ties to Ducati strengthening where now for a Suzuki satellite team?

Cal ruled out for the rest of the weekend and will also miss next week's race.

Iker showing a lot of pace - Dovi to replace him is still possible.

Vinales is using the newer Brembos this weekend and on the face of it this will be a Jerez repeat - Fabio Vs Maverick with Vale and Frankie threatening to spoil the party.

That Yamaha has the top speed of a Massey Ferguson. Ridiculous the way they have let this fester on for years now.

Yamaha have had to cut the revs and top end due to engine issues.

Yamaha locking out the front of the grid would indicate that they are doing ok !

Natural progression with Petronas to Moto 2

Sam Lowes had a good day as well.

Pit lane starts really do penalise ,same with Zarco a few weeks ago.
Relevance - Yamaha may exceed their engine allocation - in particular Vinales - penalty is a pit lane start....

Morbidelli actually had the slowest top speed of all in the race, 286kph. Bagnaia had the fastest at 301kph. Quite a difference but the cornering speed of the Yamaha makes up for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,773 ✭✭✭Scotty #

Can't see anyone but Bagnaia getting that factory seat now. Outstanding performance considering the condition he's in at the moment.

Vinales, yet another disappointing Sunday performance. Yamaha have to be having doubts.

I propose we suspend MM from the first 5 rounds every year.

BT boys have Bagnia and Factory team as a done deal.

Huewen and Hodgie have been brilliant this year - their comment re Vinales - 'if you have a different tyre choice to everyone else on the grid then you have made the wrong choice' .summed up the Vinales situation perfectly.

Vinales making a different choice - tyres ,brakes ! - to his team mates and/or other riders has not really worked for him.

Absolutely! And Michael Laverty is worth 10 Colin Edwards IMO. His explanations on some of the more technical stuff is really interesting and easy to understand.

You are probably aware of it already but Hodgy and Emmet do quite a good weekly podcast...

A story briefly appeared on the moto gp app that Luca MarinI had signed for Avintia (replacing Tito).

The story is now gone - others are now carrying a story that Rossi offered MarinI to Avintia for 2021 but Avintia through Rueben Xaus are saying that Tito has a contract and is staying for 2021.

Strange days - Tito brings Avintias main sponsorship.

Separately a rumour doing the rounds is that Avintia are to pull out of moto gp with Leopold taking over the slots....

Anytakers on the podium this weekend ??

Very good call on Mir - Suzuki strong in testing and Mir is starting to get the upper hand.

12 riders on the podium so far !
    1. Mir
    2. Fabio
    3. Frankie

Lotto numbers easier to guess !

Any thoughts in Dovi's chances for win/championship? Now that he's leading he [should] be highly motivated? Or is it a case the bike is just not good enough?

Great chance. The winner this season probably won't need to win a lot of races. Dovi has only won 1 race. Just a bit of consistency. Rossi actually has a decent chance if he can sneak onto a few podiums and Dovi, Fabio et al have a few DNFs.

    Hmmm... or perhaps VR|46 ??

I don't buy the spin from Rossi and SRT. There's either a serious stalemate over something OR, Rossi is holding off to see how something else pans out.

    1. Quartararo
    2. Morbidelli
    3. Rossi

Yamaha, and in particular Quartararo, have all their engines back. I'd expect the revs to be delimited somewhat.

Who from Rossi's crew will transfer to SRT and who will pay for them.

Well, I thought Yamaha were paying for them? "full factory support, inc engineers" that's what they said wasn't it?

We'll know next week I suppose.

Yamaha don't want all the top guys leaving to SRT.

Crazy FP2 - KTMS have found a lot of speed and Naka is right up there as well but most impressive was Fabio who was doing a race distance run - those lap times on Sunday would give him an easy victory.

Just to note Stefan Bradl is out injured for the rest of the weekend - down to 2 Hondas - strange days

Dovi can't get the rear tyre to work - he says he found something in testing - we will see on Sunday.

Any other year and Dovi would be favourite for the championship but unless he can get the Ducati working for him very soon Fabio/ Mir even Miller may start to put their stamp on this crazy championship

There all having bother with the rear tyre, too much grip until well into the race, lads can't throw the bikes around early on in the race

Confirmed VR46 will not be in Moto GP in 2021 , 2022 possible,as the Suzuki satellite team probably.

Dorna wants 6 manufacturers 4 bikes each .

Qualifying was crazy this afternoon - Mir has probably blown his chance to win with a poor qualifying, Bagnia has great race pace.

Nice to see Alex Marquez finally show some potential.

Great race from Vinales but begs the question... why not that aggressive every race??

I was expecting more from Quartararo. . He's the only Yamaha that sill has 5 engines. With a max of 7 races left I thought they would have cranked him up a bit but looking at the max speeds, it doesn't look like they have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 702 ✭✭✭Magown3

    Unreal championship this year!

At this point, if anyone in the top 10 can put 3 good podiums in a row they'll almost have one hand on the trophy!

Quatararo won the first 2 and has almost done nothing since, but still is 1 point off the top. Mir seems to have some momentum. Wonder what odds you'd get on him?

Could 2020 be one of those strange years where the rider who wins the championship doesn't actually win a race!
