Would buy an apartment in town. Two bed and a home office. Big outside terrace and nice views a must. Nothing too big or grand. Don't need every Tom Dick and Harry asking to stay there after a night out, because they know I have a place in town.

Would buy a cottage in Wicklow, near Enniskerry/Sugarloaf to live in during the nice summer months. Good size garden a must. View of Sugarloaf a must. House needs to have a bit of character, but doesn't need to be massive.

Would buy holiday homes in Wexford and Kerry for me and the extended family to vay-cay in. May rent them out as holiday rentals, to earn a few bob on the side. Just because I'm loaded, doesn't mean I won't make my money work to make more money.

Would buy something in the Canaries for the fam to get away to in the winter. A big private pool is a must, as well as proximity to a village or town so driving isn't a must. May be rented out when not in use, as above.

Am also a US citizen and would buy properties in Seattle and Florida to live in when visiting family over there. Again, both may be rented out when not in use.

Would probably hire a property manager to keep track of all of this. Not family. Always dangerous to mix family and business.

Woud get a decent, sturdy car for Wicklow in the winter (a Ranger Rover perhaps) and something zippy for town driving. Would not get anything flashy like a Merc or a BMW, it just makes you a target for thieves. Wouldn't invest in any fancy art work, paintings, racehorses etc etc, No interest. However, I have always loved old antique jewelry so would probably invest in a few really good, really old Cartier pieces. It would be an investment too, as they keep their value over time.

Would not collect my winnings in person. Would send in a solicitor and keep it hush hush. Would tell my immediate family that I won 10 million or so, hence my new found propery portfolio. Would keep the exact number of millions to myself. That is too big a sum not to create conflict and divisions, but 10 mill is a good handy number to do good with, have a great lifestyle but not go nuts on. I'd pay off a few mortgages for family members. Buy every one a new car. Maybe lodge a hundred grand into a family holiday slush fund every year, so that everyone can get a hollier or two out of it all.

Would do my research on setting up trust funds for certain younger family members to receive income in the future to pay for college, a house etc etc, to ease the financial pressure of all that, long after I am gone. It would be managed by trustees (I hear that's how the Rockerfellers do it ) so the money would be spent wisely. No coke addled, spoilt brats will be falling out of night clubs on my money. Very large amount would be given to well run charitys. Would do my research there too. Fr Peter McVerry Trust maybe. Certainly none of these organizations where the fat cat CEO earns more than the Taoiseach.

Would like to build an apartment complex near all of the childrens hospitals, so that parents would have somewhere to stay when their kids are in hospital on a long term basis. I'd rent one half out to regular renters and the rental income from that, goes to subsidize the free rent for the parents of the sick kids.

That's about it for now...I'm very bored at work, so I'm sure I'll come up with more later....

It's not if said person has half their family here and half their family in the US. And I said the Kerry, Wexford and Canaries houses are holiday houses for the entire extended family to use. I'm generous like that.
