    Folks,

I believe I have completed the set up and in the file attached you will see the results of the first six rounds of the draft. Any blanks are where less than six keepers were kept.

You can actually see all the keepers here. The site seems to have made this available this year - or maybe I've finally worked out how to work it....

Can someone tell me if they can access the file? It's a PNG that I've snipped off the site.

Yep works fine, nice work cheers!

One more NA Keeper that was missed.

Eastside Fireballers will be keeping Gleyber Torres but I haven't included that as the last of his picks. Please leave Torres and Coeus will take him in his last pick. Cheers!

    Well done to Artful Dodgers.

After being runner up last year, pushed forward to win it all. Well done. :D

I second that.  I was pleased and somewhat surprised to make it through to the final this year, but I never got a look in this week.  6-4 makes it look close but, to use a football analogy in a baseball forum, I was 4-0 down going into injury time and scored a couple of very late consolation goals.  Well played Dodgers.
Must admit I keep forgetting how hard it is to navigate the final week of the season with rotations being reset for the play-offs, pitchers being shut down and hitters being rested.  And the season finished dismally for my own SF Giants with a 15-0 walloping by LA.
    See you all next year.

Yeah it's a real shame. Makes it that bit more random. But no complaints I was terrible in the playoffs this year and deserved my 2 defeats!

    Congrats to the winner

    Congrats on taking it down!

Beat me easy enough in the semi with some excellent starting pitching locking down most of the pitching cats. Might have been a bit closer had my bats not gone quite that week but that is head-to-head for you.

    Until next season :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Thanks for the congrats, folks. It's been 7 years in the making!

My starting pitching really delivered in the playoffs which made all the difference. Blake Snell was a seriously lucky/good pick and he really came through in the final fantasy weeks.

I still feel there's something wrong when the Fireballers come in nearly 20 games ahead, have one bad week and that's them out of contention.

An enjoyable season and the league was really active so every week was competitive - which was great.

    Hi folks,

Believe it or not - It's baseball season again!! I've renewed the league. Can you let me know who's back in for this year?

    Fireballers in aswell.

Early start this season with those games in Japan if they count...

I assume we can keep the two minor league players as well.

    Count me in, Tolka Drakes

    Yeah sure, Judean Peoples Front.

Might be time for a name change actually

I'm happy to keep the keepers, rosters and minor league players as they are unless anyone wants to propose something.

Let me know what ye think.

I'm ok with it as it stands. I suppose with Joey Votto, I would be happy to go with OBP but average is fine.

There has been a lot of talk recently about points leagues and while we couldn't do that as it stands, I would be interested in discussing this format in the future.

We have active players but we all know each other too well and I felt last year, this was seen with very few trades.

    https://doodle.com/poll/qdc27zzg275z9m5t

Everyone seems to be back in. The poll link is up there again for this year. Earlier start due to the Japan games so the options end on the 19th. I've also skipped around Paddy's day for obvious reasons. I've leave it up until next Sunday and then set the keeper dates for a couple of days.

Is everyone happy with the number of keepers at 6 or should we drop to 4 for this year? Just to release a few more players into the draft pool if ye're interested. I'll leave it at 6 unless a few would like to change it.

I’ve always been a fan in recent years of dropping it back to 4, as it opens up the draft more as well (the best part).
But I think people have preferred 6.
But as you’ve asked, my preference is 4.
I’m happy with all the other rules tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Yeah I'd be happy to keep it at 6.

This is the 9th year of the league though so I'd be happy if we want to say 6 this season, 4 next season and then do a full reset? Maybe even move to a dynasty or something?

Don't want to become something that would mean people stop playing because it's an enjoyable and competitive league but might be good if we stop and take stock after a decade of playing

I like the idea of a complete reset at some stage. Maybe we could also vote on whether a Points league as opposed to the standard 5 x 5 roto catagories would be an option.

I can see why I finished 6th when 4 out ESPNs top bounce back players are on my team!

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Looks like it'll be Monday 11th and we won't be able to get everyone on the draft.

I also like the idea of a full reset next year if we're all up for it.

I am examining my keepers today and will submit later if thats ok?

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

No bother. Keeper settings are now done so you can choose them automatically

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

    Folks,

Draft now set for next Monday at 9. It's earlier than I thought it would be but it was the only time with a reasonable number of players

Keeper settings are lined up. Any keepers are to be set by midnight on Saturday night.

    Let the research begin!

I'm happy to keep at 6, it makes the draft easier as we don't have to make the hard decisions on the first few rounds :)

However if the consensus is to make changes like less keepers or a complete reset then I think that decision needs to be made before this season starts as knowing the rules are changing will impact decisions that need to be made this season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

That's reasonable. I've setup two polls with 6/4/2/0 keepers for next year and a keepers year 2 also with 6/4/2/0. Hopefully that isn't too many options!

Apparently he has over 250lbs of it! Needs a bit of extra leg space. :D

I see it as extra incentive to hit HR's instead of doubles so he won't have to hustle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

    Folks,

Given the results we'll stick with the 6 keepers for this year. The numbers for next year look like a reset is more likely than not. There hasn't been much time to vote and I think we'd need more votes to change anything.

Reminder that the deadline for keepers is midnight tomorrow night!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

I'm going to keep Nick Senzel as a NA keeper.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

This feels WAY WAY too early but all is (hopefully) set for tomorrow's draft. I'm always terrified it'll go pear shaped!

    The draft order is

    1. RebelSox
    2. Tolka Drakes
    3. Springfield Zephyrs
    4. Beechwood Badgers
    5. K Kings
    6. El Capitan
    7. Judean Peoples Front
    8. Eastside Fireballers
    9. Giant Squirrels
    10. Artful Dodgers

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭bit of red72

Everyone has taken six keepers other than the Badgers (0) and Rebel Sox (4). They will have the first eight picks in the draft before the rest join in.

There have been just four NA kept Bo Bichette, Tatis Jr. Big Vlad Jr and Nick Senzel. They've been allocated to the last round or two for those teams.

Don't think there was a single one last year

Might be a better deal in the long run for Smack. But I like the idea of tinkering via trade more this year. Hopefully the league can get more active this way.

Did we agree the number of keepers for the 2020 season? It will have an effect on decisions for this 2019 season.

Yep very true, did we get everybody voting in the poll?

Players I have available for trade (already had rejected offers for both). I like both players but have had both since their MLB debut and want to freshen up my team a bit:

    Bryce Harper
    Carlos Correa

I think when the teams actually make the roster moves. Yahoo are normally pretty quick to update once the teams announce the moves. They should be announced here throughout the day

I don't think this is the first time this has happened but I accidentally accepted a trade on mobile when I meant to reject. I even wrote a message why I wasn't interested and said I'd look to make a counter offer.

Mea culpa, but if you could find it in your heart to vote against the trade I would greatly appreciate it.

I really wish there was a grace period of a few mins to cancel it! Or at least a pop up "are you sure you want to accept" secondary question

Trade was my Harper and Quintana for his Puig and someone else.

I have zero desire to own Puig again, I don't rate him at all and said as much in my message back. Still open to trading Harper but this trade isn't close to being worth it for me, I just had a slip of the finger when doing it - I think I'm programmed to hitting 'confirm' when I type in any comment box whereas this wasn't to confirm sending the message it was confirming the trade!

No hassle at all, I voted against it and it must have reached the limit because I can see a mail saying its vetoed..

Talk about a heartbreaker, having to vote against a trade that will net you Bryce.

All good. Glad it got sorted quick.

    Season has started so well.

Aaron Hicks not making it back in time for opening day.
    Scooter Gennett pulling his groin.
Daniel Murphy with a broken finger.

And now Trea Turner goes and breaks his finger on a bunt.

It's been a hard slog so far for the Dodgers this year. The burden of defending the title seems beyond the current roster !;);)

My pitching is in urgent need of some support. Keuchel and Kimbrel remain unsigned, Kluber is about to go the IL and Blake Snell has returned to pre-2018 Blake Snell performance.

I've put a few infielders and Nick Senzel up on the trading block if anyone wants to take a look. At this point everyone is up for discussion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,050 ✭✭✭boccy23

    Congrats to El Captain.

Came down to the very last day and a few better pitching performances that won it for you.

Enjoyed the season again and have a younger team for next year which should help (if they can stay healthy!).
