Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So any x-music representatives from the hi-tech section around here?

I asked on the day of opening about the v-machines and if you were getting any in. I was told I'd be emailed about it over that weekend.

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/sm_pro_audio_v_box.htm

are you getting them in? How much are they gonna be if so?

I spoke to Nigel, who owns it, a couple of weeks ago. He said that 'Musician' will be rebranded as an X-Music shop.

I'm sure their still up to their gills out there, so in the fullness of time ....

I love Nigel :) Don't know why, lovely bloke. I suppose they have to seperate numbers 26&27 first ? Surely he'll want it open pretty soon though for the Xmas crowd ?

iwas in this place yesterday - and have to say about fcuking time, they have a great range of synths roland korg access, akai samplers, Dave smith synths too!!! etc etc, very helpful staff who offered to hook up anything i was interested in even if i wasnt buying it - i know music maker are helpful too but the range of stuff her blew me away, i wanted to stay all day. I can now go in here and try out stuff without having to search the internet and youtube for dems/info etc. Long may they last, bit of a ****ty location though! Prices are reasonable too - seem to be about €40 more expensive than thomann but they said they would haggle - what a joy its going to be to actually walk out with a bit of kit the same day without having to wait a week or two for delivery

Paid a visit to X Music today, was pleasantly surprised I have to say. Floorspace a plenty and they seem to be at least trying to be competitive with their pricing. Staff fairly on the ball without being pushy, and all round a fairly decent experience.

Not sure how much I'll use it personally, but hope the store is a success because this island has been crying out for something on this scale. A much needed shot in the arm to local suppliers and some good healthy competition to the foreign online retailers who can get lazy and arrogant.

End result is better for the consumer.

Was there myself recently and have to say I was very impressed by the whole experience.

Hope they make a success of it.

yeah its the usual ""use em or lose em""

I also have noticed a vast improvemnet in service at the usual suspect stores in CC.

competition is good for us customers

Well considering that the big two shops in town were raping us for quality and prices for years , yeah it's good . I've still not been out to the shop though, I'm not in the market for anything (except maybe a job  ) but the anticipation is brewing.

Well, I went in there yesterday. Have to say I was impressed. Very large building and the staff where....... Friendly.....very strange for a Irish shop :D

    Hope it does well.

Seem to have issues with suppliers and getting stuff like Fenders and I was also told there not allowed to sell Digidesign TDM stuff. Was also wierd to have a shop mention Thomann so much!!

They should give us Boardies a discount for the amount of free advertising they are getting on this thread alone.

Oh ****.. I'm cutting up my cards.. just noticed this thread.. I work in Ballymount Estate.. this is ****ing dangerous for me having something like this close.. especially after the **** I've had to deal with thomann over the last week, not putting "Ireland" on their shipping labels and things going amiss!

Don't think that's a fair comment. There's nothing stopping any of the many other retailers (irish or otherwise) coming on and listening to their core demographic.

We all know if Music Maker had their own thread on this board it would probably be a fairly heated debate and end up getting locked, judging by their own track record. Likewise with Thomann. Some people don't take criticism well and I'm sure the time will come when someone from X Music will have to face the wrath of some web warriors.

    I'm all for it tbh.

well since X music opened up i had cause to get a microphone repair ( i had purchased at music maker ) over a year old

Music maker went out of their way to do get the item FREE OF CHARGE

Now that has shown me how the market is changing due to competition fairplay to MM

eh probably a totally inapporopriate use of this thread but...

do y'all have midi leads out there in x-music? i'd ring them but it's late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,816 ✭✭✭unclebill98

Well...... that did not take long.

Waiting 2 weeks for a response back about a product they sell. Was promised a email and nothing.... Had a great chat with the sales rep and he seem like he knew his stuff. Sat talking for over 30 mins about what I needed, gave him all the info he wanted and nothing.

Ah well, guess there all the same, except for a certain Over Lord of this Forum...
