Is Castle Kebabs under new management? The food had taken a nose dive it has been a fantastic kebab shop up to now to be fair to them.

Seems to be the same lads in there, haven't been in ages. I find that once a place like that starts getting quieter, standards go downhill very fast.

A friend who works in one of the Costa's in Galway was saying he thinks it will be September when they will be back open.

The Galway Roast, Cafe Nova and Mulroys Bar (advertised for lease) are gone as well.

    Cuppa Joes has reopened.

    Real shame about Nova.

The Galway Roast had moved up around the corner from the Connaught Telegraph offices.

Just been to cuppa Joe's. It was busy and we'll spaced out. Shame about Nova they seemed to be doing well up there. Mulroy's is surprising. Not great for the president of the chamber of commerce.
I'd say Costa are milking the Covid payments before they open.

The website has it down as closed with no opening hours .

The Sligo one is closed permanently and has the same layout on the website as the castlebar one.

Are both of them opening do you know?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,372 ✭✭✭Westernyelp

Not sure. The one at Harvey Normans is anyway. I'd say the one in Tesco will be hampered by the cap on numbers entering the store.

Have to laugh at people when they mention that it’s great that they are bringing jobs to the area.

There tends to be an overall job loss when a supermarket comes to a location, there’s also an increase in the amount of money that leaves the area.

It’s a pity Covid is upon us as it would be great to count the number of jobs in the retail sector in Belmullet now and check again 12mths later.

I’d like to look at the total hours worked as opposed to the physical number working as the supermarkets tend to prefer more workers working shorter shifts.

So a small shop might employ 3 staff working 120 hours a week and Aldi might employ 8 staff working 120hrs a week.

Stuck where they are with little option to move! Ladbrokes must be near a rent review if they were looking at moving. The landlord on Castle Street can almost increase what they want to the rent now.
