Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My friend in London has informed me its snowing there. If the snow is that far south surely there is some hope for Southern Ireland folks like me?

Made a big sloppy sleet shower here earlier. I'd say snow/rain ratio was roughly 2/8 at best.

Still not a flake of the stuff here but it's snowing in surrounding areas. Sad face :(

Snowing in Manchester. Have a dusting on the car & now there's some light-moderate graupel.

Just off topic a little, does anyone know the website where you get a map of Ireland & UK and it has live temperatures and dew points? I used it the last 2 winters and have lost the link! Thanks :)

    Before anyone asks:
Graupel (also called soft hail or snow pellets; METAR code: GS)[1] refers to precipitation that forms when supercooled droplets of water are collected and freeze on a falling snowflake, forming a 2–5 mm ball of rime. The term graupel is the German word for this meteorological phenomenon.[2] Graupel is sometimes referred to as small hail, although the World Meteorological Organization defines small hail as snow pellets encapsulated by ice, a precipitation halfway between graupel and hail.[3]

Had one real heavy shower of hailstones an hour ago, place is all white with it and its not melting, cars are crawling on the roads as it is difficult to drive in and very slippy.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 8,632 ✭✭✭darkman2

North County Dublin may see some sleet or snow in the next hour from a couple of showers passing through Meath atm.

Any precipitation will fizzle out before it reaches the Dublin border. The big blue blob over Meath just disappeared :( Ah well, hopefully some tomorrow

The user has been warned. Pictures are a great bonus but this is a REPORTS thread so they are definitely not essential.

YEAH I got an infraction for asking a civil question
and as i pointed out the the mod the camera does not lie whereas some people do here.

and i have suggested photos twice already no offence btw.

So would a pic not be a better verification and add that much more to the thread as some have already?

As i've said to you already, not everyone has a camera to hand and even if they do they may not feel like going to the effort of taking pictures and uploading them here. The reports which are posted here are very valuable in marginal situations like these to see what type of precipitation is falling and where it's falling. Users are not required to provide photographic evidence to back up their reports. If people feel like wasting their time making up false reports they are usually very easily identified.

I was just wondering if posters with reports could say where they???? Thanks it would be a great help for people only logging on

No snow here... but very windy, some very strong squalls, if it does snow there could be mini blizzards.

    Surely everyone has a phone?

Not all phones have cameras. Mine dosent.:D

I'd say most people do, but that's not very relevant. They may not feel like taking and uploading pictures and are certainly not required to do so. Most pictures taken at the moment especially in places where it's snowing and not sticking would only yield blackness and no sign of anything anyway.

Back on topic now please as this thread is for reports and not discussion.

Snowing and sticking a few metres above sea level on the Donegal coast :)
