Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any different ideas what to do with sweet potatoes?

Peel then cut into wedges, toss in oil salt pepper ... put onto preheated tray turn once during cooking 50+ mins at 190c yummy

Or simply mash with butter salt pepper

Saw it in a leaflet this morning. Usually only get the leaflets when the offers have started and have never got it this far ahead before (Snubble or Lindtee usually get there ahead of me :D)

No it's the current offer. Valid until Wednesday 17th, close of business

Cherries are great value for money, I bought a few packs last weekend :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

I've frozen the cherries whole. Anyone know if they'll thaw out ok ?? They were frozen individually and then bagged.

Never frozen cherries, but I pick and freeze blackberries. They last forever and go straight into the blender (frozen) for smoothies. I suppose that wouldn't be a good idea with cherries :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,195 ✭✭✭padyjoe

Nothing wrong with freezing cherries. When they thawed out not worse than any frozen fruit ie. strawberries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,172 ✭✭✭cosmic

Just heading out now to stock up on the current deals before the new ones come in tomorrow :D

Yes but strawberries will turn to mush on defrosting if they aren't frozen individually, was wondering if Cherries will be ok?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭deiseindublin

Do Aldi ever advertise the offers in advance? Can't decide to go shopping today or tomorrow.

As nice as the cherries are, I'm all cherried out!

I bought seven packs of cherries today!!! Little tip I picked up from superscrimpers, and it works. Wash the fruit when you get home in the carton. Then after a few seconds put a strip of kitchen roll over it to stop air getting in then put them in the fridge. They hold much much better

How does it stop air getting in there is airholes in the carton - top and bottom?

Well it stops most of the air getting to it compared to what usually would. It works, trust me :D

It's good to see Aldi are the leaders, the other, Irish-owned, supermarkets then follow, eventually.

Aldi Fonthill yesterday, no mushrooms and the celery were all in very poor quality (brown bits, broken stems). Maybe it's the weather, but it was a bit of a poor show from Aldi...

Yeah myself and my mum were in aldi last week and noticed that with the celery - very brown, did not look good at all so we passed on that!

Sometimes the veg can be a bit discolored at times but I find if your bold and go a few boxes down you generally find fresher stuff!

Anyone know what is on the super 6 this week? Their website is out of date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭Pang

They usually don't release the new super six until Wednesday night. I normally see it first on facebook.

Right now, it's still the celery, mushrooms etc... on.

I think it has a lot to do with current weather. Also none of their vegs are refrigerated, which affects shelf life. They need to use fridges for mushrooms, scallions etc, even if it only cost 29c I won't buy it unless it is good quality, and often it isn't.
