Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd say when the restrictions down here are reduced, there will be a lot of cars heading up from ROI especially as Christmas shopping will be starting and with a high EUR/GBP exchange rate.
Traffic would also depend on any restrictions in NI at that time.

The consumer exchange rate is €1.13/£1, absolutely no incentive to travel to save a few cent when there are so many deals locally

    89 cals 300ml bottle

That's good is that for bud or bud light

On the lookout for a couple of bottles of Absolut if any offers are about in the next week or so.

Bud Light. I haven't seen it on offer for a while though. If I see it anywhere I will post here.

O'Brien's are doing 5 bottles of Guinness Foreign Export for €10. Lovely stuff, a far bigger tastier drink than standard Guinness.

    1litre is 25e in Tesco.
70cl is 20e including flavoured types eg citron

Sainsburys offering 25% off wine if buying 6, bottle of Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 75cl is £6.75/€7.63, buy 6 or more and it's €5.72.
Tesco ROI have it for €10, reduced to €8.33 if buying 6 or more.
    So €5.92 against €8.33, nearly 50% dearer, that's a big difference.
There are many other differences toys, electrical, booze and others.
Some shops in Newry will also give you a much higher exchange rate and money will be tight for a lot of people this Christmas and every little bit will help.

I'm all for shopping locally but not if it's going to cost a fortune to do so.

With everyone switching to the smaller guinness multipacks, how long before supplies of the normal widget run out altogether?

Diageo Ireland is no longer the distributor for Bud here and stopped brewing it earlier in the year. It's now part of the C&C portfolio.

Im really liking the Murphys now, have had a few of them lately.
Got 4 Beamish at the weekend and its probably more "tastful" than the other two.

I find the beamish more bitter then the Guinness maybe it was just the can, haven't had a Murphy's in a can yet I know you can but a single can of kilkenny drought in supervalu cant see it anywhere else[/QUOTE]

Beamish is a bitter drink but has a taste unlike Guinness which I find terribly bland especially out of a can. Speaking of which are Beamish cans ever on offer? Always seems to be €2 per can

Beamish are 8 for €10 in Lidl from time to time, including right now as it happens, but I think that probably runs out this evening so you'll need to be quick!

Freedom of movement only applies to people not goods.
No, the EU Single Market consists of four fundamental freedoms; people, goods, capital and services. But there are exceptions like with excisable goods.

The question is what's gonna happen with regards bringing alcohol across the border come January 1st.

If you bring it over yourself it is OK up to quite a high amount. Send it by courier and it is subject to duty and VAT even if the UK are still in the UK which they are not. However, during the transition period that ends on Dec 31st, it is as if they were still in the EU.

I have news for you pal.
The UK will forever remain in the UK until such time as they may decide to disband the Kingdom.

Noticed a fair few unusual Gins in Musgraves today all marked down by 25%. Not a Gin drinker so couldn't tell you much more than they looked more craft type than the mass market stuff

still 10 as said but offies are closing earlier these days (i.e. non supermarket offies like o briens, this is their current hours
    Store Opening Hours

    Mon-Wed; 12-8pm

    Thur-Sat: 12-9pm

    Sunday: 12.30-7pm )

It starts selling at 10.30am in the morning, I had 10 in my head and had to wait around 5mins one morning until I could buy it, I was hitting the shop early to avoid queues in the first lockdown.

Lucky that brilliant law had me wait 5mins, otherwise I would have been swigging vodka by the neck and kicking off fights in the carpark outside at 10.25.

€20 for 1 litre spirits is always a good time!
Will stock up a bit & they should do me as mixers for a few months

Eurospar Barnhall (not sure about other branches) also had Jameson @ EUR20/70cl (yesterday evening anyway).

Is the deal on Roe and Co over?

Also- Dunnes had 1lt Absolut (several different ones) at 30 a bottle. Anyone know if this is still available?
