    That's not how rights work.
    I know.

Seems dubs are falling way behind now. While funimation advertise simuldubs, it fell behind, at least with My Hero Academia. First time it fell an episode behind was supposedly due to the first movie. Then the second movie caused another episode or 2 delay. Now the season is finished with 5 episodes undubbed, due to the virus.
Other shows affected by the virus as well

Watching Zero first is a bit like watching the Star Wars prequels first. I'd start with Unlimited Blade Works.

Damn that was good. Bit slow in places, but really good. I could see the ufotable talent at play, some scenes reminded me of Demon Slayer. Had I not watched the first few episodes of Zero, I would have been more lost for a while, and I might have ruined Saber and her background a bit. Endgame was awesome, and didn't cop the "big reveal" until shortly before it. I'm obviously not as sharp as Saber or Rin.

Had a google, and I think I'll finish Zero next, and then Stay/Night?

Stay/ Night is the Saber route covering the same overarching story as UBW, the third route Heavens Feel is being made as three movies with the last to still be released. Word of warning but Heavens Feel is a lot darker.

Now you know the archer class really is made up of archers but don't yet know that people die when they are killed.

I'd definitely finish Zero first but I might leave Stay/Night until after everything else because it's similar to UBW. I only got a few episodes into it when I last tried to watch it but I might pick it up again when I finish Babylonia.

I'd watch Apocrypha, Grand Order: First Order, Grand Order: Moonlight/Lost Room, and Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia. Babylonia is the most recent one and it just finished, unless like me you're watching it on CR and there's still a few episodes to go.

Cool. I'll do that so. Not exactly sure what ye mean Stay/Night is the Saber route, as she was quite predominant is UBW. But I'll leave it till last, finish Zero for now and then Heavenly suchnsuch. Then I'll hop off the Grand Order series. Cool little world they've built in fairness.

Fate Stay/Night is a visual novel split into 3 distinct versions of the same story that pair Shirou with a different heroine, Fate(Saber), Unlimited Blade Works(Rin) and Heavens Feel(Sakura). They are designed to be played in that order, but can be done so in any order.

The original anime adaptation from 2007 covers the Fate story.

I will never not find a billion dollar franchise starting out as a porn game hilarious.

    Don't forget Apocrypha.

Checked out some of the new anime spring has to offer

Gleipner - bizarre but has me interested

Shironeko - standard geberic magic good v evil anime but could be easy watching

Tower of god - another strange premise but first episode again has me curious to see how it develops

Only watched the first episodes of Bakarina, Bookworm S2 and Sakura Wars so far.

Bakarina is flowing better than the LN which loves repeating scenes from another point of view with very little to add.

Going to drop Sakura Wars for now as it is a sequel to the new game that isn't out here until the end of the month. The animation is full cg and a little wooden.

And Bookworm is more Bookworm, should be adapting Part 2 Volumes 1 & 2 which ends on the opening scene from the first episode of S1.

    I've watched:

Tower of God - interesting premise, could be good could be bad.

Bookworm - more Main being Main, can't complain

Sing Yesterday for Me - I like slice of life so I'll keep watching, mid 20s characters is a nice change of pace too.

    Tsugumomo - don't judge me

8th Son - pretty standard isekai so far

My Next Life as a Villainess - stuck in a real version(?) of game you have encyclopedic knowledge of, could be good

    And stuff from last season.

Fyi a bunch of the first volume of J Novels LNs are available to read for free atm on the J Novel and Bookwalker websites including Bookworm and My Next Life as a Villainess(aka Bakarina).

Have to say this season is extremely sparse. Most of the big series that were scheduled have understandably been delayed due to Covid-19 with SAO the latest to be delayed.

I might manage make a dent in my backlog then this season.

Finished Fate/Zero and also very good, if not a bit more crazy than UBW. Still feel like I'm missing something there, specifically to do with Kiritsugum so someone might be able to help me,
what's the craic with his wife and child, Iris and Ilya. I know they're homunculus, but I don't know if I just missed it or it hasn't been explained yet, but why are they homonculus, why are they the "family" of Kiritsugu, and why are they the cup?
Other than that, I'm loving it. True that UBW does ruin Zero somewhat, and I can see how watching Zero first would slightly ruin UBW. In that regard, ending for Zero and knowledge of UBW required, but
Kiriya giving the dagger as a present back to Rin, what a dick!

Anyway, as it's on Netflix, i'm gonna give Fate/Stay Night a go. I know it's not reviewing well, and it's considered the weakest of the 3(4), but I can't be bothered trying to find a legit copy of the Heavens Feel trilogy right now, as far as my Googling is telling me I won't be able to.

Part 3 hasn't been released yet and has been postponed indefinitely due to Covid 19. Part 1 has been released on dvd and bd by MVM with Part 2 scheduled within 2 months. Seeing as these are Aniplex movies don't expect them to be available on a legal stream.

Great, even when one wants to pay! But good you told me about the delay, I'll wait for all 3 and binge. Can immediately see the quality difference between Stay Night and UBW.

Stay Night is an early digi paint series, which haven't exactly stood the test of time quality wise. Doesn't help that it was also made by Studio Deen, who are notorious for poor animation quality as well.

Yeah, I haven't gone back to it since!

I usually watch a few shows weekly with some of the lads, but due to this i've recently ploughed on myself, so finally got around to watching the finale of My Hero. Holy moly! And even One Piece is getting good again, with the current story quite interesting (only since the most recent episode though)!

    Yeah my hero finished solidly!

I've always wanted to take a look at one piece but almost 900 odd episodes leaves me thinking it's pointless 😂

Tower of god has been pretty good so far.. Still perplexed that one of the main characters may be named after a man City striker 😂

It does seem daunting. It did to me when I started and it was on 720ish. But, get a guide to skip the filler episodes. There's about 100 or more at least, and honestly, once the arc kicks into full gear (usually half way through), you won't be able to stop watching until it's over. Took me a solid 3 months of nothing but anime with the odd few hours of gaming inbetween, but it even stopped me gaming, which is a first.

Granted, after watching Demon Slayer, OP doesn't hold up as well, but when OP shines, it shines! Long time investment, but well worth it!

Buddy of mine told me about bleach kai (bleach being another show I need to watch) whereby they've cut out filler stuff and Condensed it into 28 episodes. Anything similar around for One Piece

One of the fillers arcs was good, unlike most of them for most shows it was actually written but the author. Zanpakutō Rebellion add that if it's not already on it.

While there are non manga filler in One Piece they're usually 2/3 episodes and most are in keeping with the show and start at appropriate points. The only ones that come out of left field are usually movie tie ins.

Main problem with OP is that stuff is that like the manga a fight could be 5 episodes/chapters. You can't cut it out really.

I haven't watched any of the Dragon Ball anime, well, because I can't start main character squeaky voices. But a mate who has seen them says even OP doesn't hold up to the length of battles in DB. After Luffy fought
    Doflamingo
I said DB will definitely not be for me. That was the only one that felt really long to me, others were long but didn't feel so. But even that fight was epic enough to keep me interested! I just love how Luffy powers up. Really well done.

Just finished rewatching Shield Hero again. It really is fantastic, and with Crunchyroll confirming seasons 2 and 3 are happening there not too long ago, I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Definitely turning into a season to clear your backlog.

Edit: Won't embed due to Boards stupid profanity filter as s**t appears in an inprofane context in the embeddable url.

States all series except Bookworm S2 and My Life as a Villainess will not run to completion this season.

Summer will probably be light too unless there's some serious crunch once everything starts back up.

If anyone wants to watch Rebuild of Eva on hard mode they've been legally uploaded to Youtube.

It looks like some Japanese TV stations will be showing reruns next season since there won't be much new anime. Fingers crossed it could drum up interest for new seasons of whatever is being shown.

I usually keep an eye on what's coming on netflix and set reminders but phone just beeped telling I might be interested in something as netflix is know to do (usually it happens a few days after I've already bindged what it was.)

A new Ghost in the shell, SAC 2045. not heard anything about this.

I'd love some more Yuru Yuri, Asobi Asobase, Wotakoi, Non Non Byori, New Game, or Servant x Service.

I guess I really like slice of life.

Its CGI, Netflix is known for doing half decent CGI but getting Berserk 2016 vibes from this, looks like a Dragon Quest trailer, very cartoony looking, haven't watched yet but just seen the trailer.

It's a continuation of Stand Alone Complex, the same English cast too though the dub isn't up yet as it is incomplete. Already renewed for season 2.

If you haven't watched the original series it is available on Funimation Now. The bd set of both seasons is really cheap too, about €40 for 52 episodes.

You can blame Toei Europe for that. Most Toei shows were left languishing without legal means of viewing outside of importation due to their insistence that their shows must be broadcast on tv. We finally got a legal stream of One Piece a decade after the US.

Don't forget that crazy time Toei sold the UK rights for Dragon Ball to a French company that had no intention of releasing it. Said French company then tried to sell the rights to Manga for double the amount they paid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,805 ✭✭✭Evade

After the first four episodes of GITS SAC 2045 it's OK. The CGI takes some getting used to, it reminds me of one of the Appleseed movies, and it could use more shading.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,552 ✭✭✭✭Varik

I guess that animation must be cheap but ye it looks weird.

If they cel shaded it then it might look better.

I've heard great things about Psycho Pass. I haven't seen any Ghost In The Shell other than the original and Innocence (which I own both on Blu-Ray). I was thinking of picking up Stand Alone Complex, but I may see Psycho Pass first and check it out later.

AB Groupe did release DBZ movies 2-4 on VHS and DVD back in the day, but they were the Big Green dub so unless your a collector those releases weren't really worth it. My biggest issue with AB is the fact they never released the later Ocean and Blue Water dubs. Granted Manga UK have refused to release them too, but as they have established themselves as an import company it would have been much easier if there was an existing box set for them to repackage.

There is no home video version of the Ocean or Blue Water dubs, which were only broadcast in the UK and Canada, there is also no uncut version available unlike the Funimation version. This would make it a hell of a lot more expensive to produce.

Also don't forget that as of last summer Manga Entertainment is a subsidiary of Funimation.

As for them being an import company the only dubs that Manga UK have created since the 90s are GitS: Innocence and Millennium Actress. Anime Limited have regularly commissioned dubs for movies they have the rights to through Bang Zoom and NYAV such as for Mai Mai Miracle and A Silent Voice. There's no profit in dubbing anymore either as the dub becomes the property of the production committee upon the costs being recouped.
