Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Light Snowfall possible for east

Thought i would throw up a new thread, as some snow might hit the east coast soon and this place might light up!

Currently a few flakes in the wind here.

Some sub -8c 850hPa temps over the Irish sea for the next 24 hours in a very light east/northeast flow should allow some light showers to form and perhaps giving 1-3cm in lucky spots.

    Let the radar watch begin.

M2 Buoy Dewpoint at -4c so we shouldn't have to worry about sleet, for the time being anyway.

I cant believe this! I'm just up and decided to have a look at the radar not expecting to see much and this is what I see :)
I don't think its time to get the snow shovel out of the shed but a nice surprise with pressure quite high and still building. Even an unexpected dusting is more than welcome.
edit. that ppn is making it all the way from NE England to NW England, worth watching to see what happens when it moves into the Irish Sea?

Light snow here for the last 10 minutes. :)

    1.7c DP -1.5c.

Wind has gone NW, best set up for those showers if/when they come ashore.

    snow watching is just great!

If you run the radar loop, they are moving alright.

    None here all morning

Looks like Dublin has the snow shield up. But I dont think there has been anything to get excited about anywhere yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,184 ✭✭✭Elmer Blooker

that stuff is clearing from NW England into the Irish Sea, it can either intensify over the sea or die out, let's wait and see?
One way or another I won't be disappointed, I wasn't expecting anything with pressure high and still rising.

Light snow grains here, heavier than a flurry but not quite moderate and not heavy enough to stick either :(

there seems to be a streamer of sorts developing and heading towards the Louth, North Co Dublin area.
Lets forget about the Dec 2010 streamers for now as this will be a let down if we start making comparisons, I'll be happy with a centimeter! :)

interesting to see what happens, dont think it will lead to too much but seeing as we were expecting nothing anything that falls is a bonus. Watching a big blob of snow over Cumbria to Blackpool, that should make it's way to Meath and Dublin if it does not break up.
