Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    The shelves have been dusted and damaged books repaired after some zombies chewed on them. So it's time to throw open the doors once again and see what you Nocts are pouring into your brains :)

    The previous thread can be found here for any of those that are interested :)

    I would imagine it's not altogether unlikely that some of you enjoy a good book/comic so let's see what reading material you're currently getting through.

    The latest book that I'm reading is Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow.
    When Trent McCauley's obsession for making movies by reassembling footage from popular films causes his home's internet to be cut off, it nearly destroys his family. A new bill threatens to criminalize even harmless internet creativity. But the powers-that-be haven't entirely reckoned with the power of a movie to change people's minds...

    I really enjoyed the last book of his that I read, For The Win, so I'm pretty sure that I'll enjoy this one too.

    So what are the rest of you currently reading?

    Been reading book 2 of the king killer chronicle The Wise Man's Fear,on and off since the end of may,really good series,I'm not sure what to read after I'm finished it though :eek:.

    Reading Hammer of the Emperor, which (if you're a 40k fan you'll know) follows the Imperial Guard. Three stories, with three different regiments. The Cadian Gunheads in the first, a tank regiment. The Valhallan Ice Warriors are in the second story, and they are something like 40k's version of the Soviet Red army, while the third story involves the Tallarn Desert Raiders, who hail from (obviously) a desert planet.

    I'm reading a million books at the minute. I think I'm going to get 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami finished though. I want to read plenty more of his books too.

    Have read all of the books in this series in about 2 weeks recently. Really enjoyed them :)

    Also, was reading L.J. Smiths 'Vampire Diaries' series, but not enjoying them as much.

    Another good series that I must re-read is the Morganville Vampire series, by Rachel Caine. I liked those too :)

    I am a fan of candyfloss for the brain type fantasy fiction books.... is pure escapism on my part :)

    You might like the Nocture City series by Caitlin Kittredge :)

    I wasn't too pushed getting the book as I'd seen the movie. Knowing the story of a book before reading it wouldn't make me too excited to read the book it was based on, regardless how I felt about the movie.

    Pygmy was painful, I didn't get far into it before giving up. It being so difficult to read made impossible to enjoy.

    I just finished the second book of 1Q84, I'm on the edge of my seat wanting to know how this will end but I won't be able to get the the third and final book until during the week so until then I'm reading Making Money by Terry Pratchett. :)

    Making Money is pretty good.

    Ordered the latest Neil Gaiman. Like a fool I saw him post on Facebook that the hardback was on special offer on Amazon, so I went for it thinking £9 was a bargain. Then the final price was €17. Ouch. Still probably good for a hardback. Probably. Can't wait to read it.

    Has anyone else read Catcher in the Rye? A few of my friends have brought it up recently, talking about how great it was, and I don't get it. I thought Holden was the second most annoying main character in a book I've ever read.

    I read it when in school, thought it was pretty bland back then.
    I think at the time, it was considered OMG! for being angsty and teen rebellion fueled. But by todays standards, it's now a classic cause it was so "out there" back then. :rolleyes:

    Finished Fight Club last week. So much better than the movie!!

    The OH bought me J.K Rowlings The Casual Vacancy today! I have heard a few people talking about it and it's meant to be very good! Hopefully it lives up to it's hype! :)

    Started Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, just cause the movie is coming out next week and I can see myself enjoying it more if I can nit pick and say "It was better in the book!"

    Finished reading Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow during the weekend. Very good read.

    The story is based around a teenager that gets his families internet blocked for a year because he downloaded so much movie footage from the web. As a result he runs away from home to live in a squat in London.

    The story is an examination of big business lobbying government to punish people that may be using copyrighted material for non-commerical creative endeavours.

    I'd recommend the book if the above looks like something you'd be interested in. :)
