Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Might as well say, there was snow in Navan Co. Meath today.

The lightest snow I had ever seen, but it still counts.

Might aswell throw it out there. Saw several reports on good ole' facebook of snow last night around 11, from outside Athy. Don't buy it as I'm not exactly a million miles away and seemed too warm outside.

Belmullet snow???? I can understand Knock having a dusting allright, but Belmullet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 902 ✭✭✭DoneDL

Hail showers up here in NW Donegal.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,150 ✭✭✭Deep Easterly

Dp of 2c at Belmullet so unless it was entirely intensity induced I'd take that report of snow with a pinch of sugar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

    Automatic reports?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,379 ✭✭✭snow ghost

Absolutely no snow here - so Belmullet seems unlikely tbh.

Sleet shower turned to more to rain here near Castlebar. Frequency of showers increased significantly. Top of Nephin has a dusting of something white, when you can see it!

Belmullet is a manned station. The synop will tell exactly what type of weather was reported, but the 10 am one won't be published until 6 pm!

The half-hourly metars from Knock don't mention any precipitation around that time, just a light rain shower at 11 am. Lowest temp/dewpoint were +3/+2. It is also a manned station, but again we'll have to wait until 6 pm to see what exactly they reported. I would expect snow at Knock though, as it's at 203 m,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭Su Campu

For the record, the 9 am synops for these two stations reported

Belmullet Temp 5.2, dewp 3.0, "rain shower within last hour".
Knock Temp 3.7, dewp 1.7, "state of sky unchanged".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭Su Campu

Knock reported light sleet shower at 1130, +3/+2.

Belfast Aldergrove (81 m) at 1120 reported light drizzle, with recent snow, +1/+1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 139 ✭✭faktisperminute

I live at about 76M asl and we had 2 recent sleet showers

Can't quite see Nephin yet, but all of the other mountains North of Clew Bay just came into view out of the clouds, not a bit of snow on any of them, even got the binoculars out but nothing I'm afraid.

Just had a brief flurry of snow (didn't stick) outside Omagh! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭Su Campu

The 12Z synops are out, and Belmullet reports hail shower in the past hour, with current nearby precipitation, and "showers" (the type is not reported for past weather) during the 3-hour period to midday. Temp 5.6, Dewp 1.6.

Knock is reporting snow shower in the past hour, and similarly "showers" in the 3 hours to midday. Temp 2.8, Dewp 2.0.

Heard there was a snow shower in Glencolmcille Co.Donegal.
Lasted a short while, proper flakes. Didn't lie or anything.
Snowing in the sperrin mountains also.

    Moderate sleet here.

Should pass soon. Temp has dropped from 7c to 4.5c since 11am.

FAO Mod: Can you change thread title to 'snow reports december 4-6' just to prevent another thread opening at one minute past midnight. Thanks

I'm not happy to report rain in Waterford :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,150 ✭✭✭Deep Easterly

Weak trough is clearing here in Galway with sun coming out so relatively drier air is pushing in. Can see some dark shower clouds up over Mayo though tops don't appear all that high.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭Su Campu

Light sleet shower at Knock at 1300. Temp/Dewp +3/+3.

    Recent rain at Belmullet, +7/+2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 172 ✭✭shootie

Heavy rain in North Wexford. Getting colder though, wouldn't be surprised to see sleet soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭Pangea

Heavy shower just at the moment, few flakes of snow :)
Turned to sleet and hail now though, place is white with hail now. -Donegal
