Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking to get 2x king size pocket sprung mattresses for a new home. Priorities: non-sagging, healthy, value. Budget; mid-range (600 to 1,000 max for master bedroom, ~500 to 800 max for spare bedroom). Been looking at Respas (KingKoil too expensive for what they are).

    Trying to decide whether to go with one with either;
    A. A box-topper.
Pros: removable, rotatable, flippable. Comfort (from topper) & support (from mattress underneath).
Cons: Been told they'd sag sooner than a non-box-topper mattress (true?). Expensive to replace (~€400?)
    E.g. Respa Sublime Support 2000 morgandoyles.com/product/respa-5-sublime-support-2000-pocket-mattress/

    B. Non box-topper
Cons: sag sooner than one with a box-topper? Family member (light weight, in 70s) has 2 mattresses (KingKoil & Respa) which both sagged within 2 to 3 months.
Difficult to find a comparison (pros & cons) between common mattress ma

    C. ThermaCool & SleepFresh technology
Pros: keeps body cooler (better for sleep) & is healthier (if marketing info is to be believed)
Cons: can only rotate. Not many of these on the market it seems.
Been advised by one seller that this is the way to go.
E.g. Respa Wellness Collection Delight 2000 respabeds.ie/mattress-collections/wellness-collection (can't find it on that website)

    D. Open cell foam
Pros: supposedly cooler (unlike closed cell foam) & healthier
Cons: need to ensure it's dense enough
    E.g. respabeds.ie/mattress-collections/platinum-pillow-top-collection

Impossible to compare like for like on the market (deliberately done??) as each merchant has different make, model, product code, spec naming conventions etc & pushes different materials as being the bees knees.

Any advice re materials, products or stores to go for welcome.
@BigMickey; i'm rarely in your direction but interested in your view re the above & what you offer.

Looks like you have it all covered there yourself. Try before you buy is the best advice I can give you.

Thanks but I don't have it covered at all, hence the request for advice. Again, do you have any view on what material type to go for given the criteria at the top of the post, your experience & do you sell anything specific that compares with any of the exampled mattresses? Any help appreciated.

Is it just a 3ft X 6ft 6inch mattress that you need ? You have the bed already ?

We generally sell a full natural latex mattress for adjustable beds as they need to be very flexible and natural latex is just that.

    Thanks

    Hi again

You are totally correct in what you say. The bed business is a mine field.

Have you actually gone in to different stores and tried these models out or just researched on line ? I will tell you why I ask when you answer .

I bought a couple of beds just before Christmas as I was moving into a new home.

Having given it a few weeks, I have to say the beds are excellent. They are great quality and the sheer choice of colours, headboards, bed types, drawers etc was brilliant.

The other great thing that you will get with these guys is fantastic customer service. Fiona is brilliant at what she does and really easy to deal with.

Anyone thinking of going with them, you don't need to think twice.

    Hi Paremon,

Buying a mattress is actually a really personal thing. Our main advice is to try before you buy. We have people who read up about mattresses on line and are set on a particular mattress, then when they come to our shop they can end up going for something completly different.

It is better to go for a double sided (turnable) mattress because you will get a longer life span out of it. Everytime you flip it, it is like getting a brand new mattress. When you flip it, all the fillings spread out and it gives it a new lease of life. THe mattresses can be very heavy and sometimes people don't flip them but it is always good to have the option!

If you are concerned about over heating or getting too warm, I would avoid memory foam as some people can react with the memory foam and get very warm. Again, this does not apply to everyone and is a personal thing.

We sell a lot of natural filled mattresses for this reason. Natural filled mattresses (wool etc), don't get too warm. Another option is a gel or latex mattress which also keeps you cool.

    Hi bungaro79,

Unfortunately we are all sold out of the Signature Sleep mattresses as we just got a job lot of them. What size do you require? We got a job lot of Dormeo mattresses which would be similar to the Signature Sleep foam mattresses (not sure which one you got) but only have them in double size at the minute. We are also due in a range of Breasley pocket and foam mattresses in the next week or so which will be available in all sizes.

    Hi Big Mickey,

I'm looking to price the following to furnish an apartment:

    1. - 1 Single Mattress 78" x 42"
    2. - 1 King Mattress 78" x 72"
No preference for memory or spring/coil or vaccum packed or not, etc.
Just need a well priced, lasting, medium feel.

Could you also provide prices for the whole set, headboard etc. Just in case I decide to go for a whole set instead of using the current beds.

    3. - Corner Sofa/3 Seater Sofa
Looking for rustic colours - black, brown, maroon, etc, as the apartment has glossy dark brown floors and glossy black wardrobes, etc.

    4. - 6 Seater Dining Set
Similar to above coloring scheme or glass/frosted or marble/granite look top?

Costs play a big role but also looking for lasting quality. Not uncomfortable, 1 year use stuff.

Could have called you but I have no idea what's available and would prefer getting some links to the products.

    Thanks.

    Hi circlek,

Thank you for messaging us. Regarding the bed sizes, the first size seems to be a large single but not quite a small double either, we can get this size made for you but just highlighting this with you that it is an odd size.

The king mattress you relate to is actually super king dimensions. Is this the size that you are looking for? King would be 60" X 78".

Our biggest selling quality value for money bed is our Vogue bed; https://bigmickey.ie/product/irish-beds-vogue-bed-set/
You can add headboard in smaller sizes for €50 or super king size from €80.

We have quality brown leather 3 seater sofas from €499. Something like this but just the sofa on its own; https://bigmickey.ie/product/naples-3s-1r-1r-sofa-set/

We will also have quality dining sets starting from €499.

If you want more detailed images you can email us info@bigmickey.ie and we can send you images of items we have offers on.

I'm aware that the sizes are odd. We imported the hardwood furniture a few years ago.

I think the smaller one was called a queen size bed and the larger a king (super kind here).

What options will you have for the queen(?) size? and how much will it cost?

The superking mattresses seem on the expensive side. Do you have anything cheaper? If you can give me options such as cheapest, average, best value. I'd like to see the difference.

Any fabric corner sofas? Not a fan of leather. Is that what most people would go for? I find fabric a lot more comfortable.

The bed is great, feels very solid - have had a couple of nights sleep on it now and i'm very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend bigmickey.ie - good quality beds, good prices and great people.

    Hi circlek,

That's no problem at all. We can get a range of mattresses made in the special single size from €99. Something that would be like super budget quality would cost you €199 or mid quality would be around €299.

Regarding the super king mattress, we have 100's of mattresses in stock and budget super kings start from €199. We get random stock from time to time which would be Silent Night, Rest assured etc that we can do really good deals on. Mid quality ones in that range would be €399 and then higher quality ones from €499 upwards and we have all in between.

Yes we have fabric corner sofas from €599.

If you have a budget per item, we should have something to suit it.
