Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Checking in here to see how everyone is doing, I've been giving social media a miss this past while, just got feed up with all the conspiracy merchants and the doom and gloom in general, so no twitter or boards this past few weeks (was never on facebook anyway so that didn't apply), all is well in this household, both still working from home including the OH who had a few weeks of no work but back at it again. We got an invite from extended family during the week to join them on a staycation in Donegal in August, there would be 19 of us in total but having considered it we declined the invite, August just seems too soon with the whole pandemic, we've been so careful for the past year we're not going to put it in flux now for the sake of a holiday in August.

This might be very bad news to Poly.

Do you think she knows yet ?

My ears have been burning :p

I do indeed like marzipan but I'm in the minority so it won't be happening.

It's all a pile of wànk. We've a good mind to buy 3 regular cakes in Supervalue and let that be that.

Unless a very "gifted" chef extraordinaire comes good

Very few people bother to eat the cake, it's one area to cut cost without being the talk of the town.

I wouldn't sweat it Perse, sure I could even rustle up some cup cakes for you. The icing might be a bit "rustic" though. I'm gate crashing your wedding anyway, so delivery is at least guaranteed. :D

On Google maps looking at the border

It's crazy that on small country roads your a few yards from a different country

Didn't people keep a slice of their wedding.cake as a momento?

Actually it's not really crazy. Thankfully I didn't have to look at Google maps to reach that conclusion. I don't think your lifting of covid restrictions opinion belongs here, but that's for others to decide.

Grannies maybe. The couple used to keep a tier of a traditional fruit cake when contraception wasn't used.

Younger people are generally too busy drinking by the time the cake is cut. A few sambos and cocktail sausages does the job.

Wedding cakes have tiers, the top tier was traditionally reserved by the hotel and the couple kept it for the christening of their first child. Nowadays the first child generally doesn't arrive within 40 weeks (or suspiciously less than 40) of the wedding, so the top tier has less significance.

There might be a regional difference here though!

Yes that's right. Tiers held up on little sticks and the top one for the Christening. They were always fruit cake as well. Basically a Christmas cake. Back when I was a child and mam and dad would be going to weddings they would bring home a slice and they were always wrapped in thick linen napkins.

I'll be happy with your cupcakes Leg :p

Just dragging my arse outta bed, pretty much stayed there for the previous 24 hours. Guess my body was telling me something.

Not sure if it was a dream or a real phone call, but I have recollections of the missus telling me that she broke the door handle off our truck. Have to wait until she wakes up to see if this is real :)

    Deskside at work...

Ah, the "joys" of coming back to work and finding over 200 new emails in your inbox. I was only gone a single day, for crying out loud!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Wasn’t a dream, she did pull the door handle off our truck :):)

Just spent the last 3 hours attending an online training course, it was identical to last year, same slides same blurb. Total waste of time :(

That truck is causing you some grief. I would plead a faulty handle. Can't image how it would come off otherwise.

I could do with a different type of shot mind you, but I'll take what I can get :D
